Big thumbs up. Great insights from Jason.
Agreed !
What a great interview ❤
Thank you! Have you ever been to Sundance?
Very inspiring! I’m in the process of taking the next step in my journey, making my first feature film, and distributing through FilmHub.
34:34 Teen comedies for $5,000? I'll believe that when I see it.... titles please. (looking to hire someone so get your friend a job here 😉 )
He missed a huge opportunity to ask you about marketing.
Will get Jason back on! There's a good chat I had with Rosa specifically about marketing features th-cam.com/video/NTL3mdtEBpY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=lqe38-fxHUCER0cQ
Thanks for the interview! Ironically I discovered Life of Mars by first watching the Russian remake (Dark Side of the Moon). Very cool concept and tugs on the nostalgia strings of those generations
Yes great show - and well directed!
Make shorts of your podcast and link them to the full videos. You should have more subs by now. Something is wrong. Get vidiq and check your keywording also.
I started out watching TH-cam videos to learn, and Jasons were on the list. Went right back to the start with them. Pretty solid info from a legit guy.
amen to that!
Does anyone know the names of the "beach movie comedies" he mentioned? (Asking for a friend).
The moment a filmmaker stops giving people what they already need and starts creating something people never knew they needed he or she will be a billionaire.
Jason has such rare helpful insights.
Amen!
I need to speak to Jason! I'm a documentary/unscripted creator.
He's very active on Facebook - if you are not on it already - this is a great place to pose questions facebook.com/groups/thejhorton
We are using the Volume to film micro budget films. It has been a complete game changer.
Amazing! Any vids you can share?
@@thehonestfilmmaker Last year we made 4 films that are currently on Tubi. The process I have used is instead of LED screens I used video projectors. Linked two together. I had a special screen made for me that bounces more light from the screen. Its a cheaper version but a game changer. I used this as a mobile version but in the future we are opening a small studio in Bulgaria so we don't have to keep moving it. Keep the good work up.
@@dragonflixchannel Thats amazing! Unfortunately we don't get TUBI in the UK - is there a trailer?
@@thehonestfilmmaker There are plenty on my TH-cam channel. I also made a full feature animation film called Adventures of Mickey Sherlock Mouse & Winnie the Pooh. Please check them out.
Party list just gone up chicriviera.com/en/2024/04/05/cannes-film-festival-2024-the-calendar-of-evenings/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR1SC6c8ZTM1Tb-DaOtb-yTBgforaiYnXvx7wYAr0uAB-4xp7oMtzLBe7yM_aem_AZ6P3CjxDEge5eI0EwurO_aDxxyahiLddmySDj-ayzN29C1BzyPypFcHYXWs7S1MwVnjwwKuHD_7fEbW3QVwB_IR
Really interesting advice, thank you! see you there next week? ;)
Glad it was useful - unfortunately I won't be there this year - although I do know a lot of people that will!
Great interview, Question Does this information applies to shows as well?
Yes - shows are a great way to make ££ on Film Hub and I have heard people say the platform is leaning toward them - one reason might be that they have the potential for longer viewer retention - since you want to watch the next episode - which then leads to better Ad viewing figures.
Film hub will take anything under the sun..now lets break this down..the film has to be technically savy, but almost all films, including mine, are not worth a huge return, they are about as good as baseball card trading value..that said, some movies are those golden cards that will make money, but most all will not..film hub will ingest your film and you fall into a web that is similar to day trading without knowledge..distribution agrigation sales rep have all been blured into the biggest scam operation..young ceos spend more time figuring creative accounting and company managment..the films are the blind asset that is equal to manopoly money only valued for the creators of the game...as long as filmakers either prented to be producers or have the mentaluty of hope..we are not part of the true film business..it is a sharade for the agrigates, their influencers that sell their ideas..lots of video noise out there is gifting cash opportunities to business suits to live lavishly on the hope of idiots with cameras.
“Get them to ask questions” Great info! Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Great videos/podcast Jim, as someone who's completed their first feature, and is heading from festival run into distribution, this kind of straight advice is invaluable. Thank you! Hope the channel grows and grows.
Hi - thank you for your kind words - really pleased it's helping + just watched the trailer it it looks FAB - the Ghostwatch vibes are giving my PTSD from childhood!! Great work - keep us posted on the film!
Will filmhub reject a film that has bloopers after the end credits?
Good question - leave it with me
They won’t reject, but their QC team might delete the bloopers without asking you. We’ve had a few scenes (especially mid or post credit scenes) cut by their QC teams.
@@ropertv Thanks. I decided to just run the credits over the bloopers, and just squash the issue :) LoL. It passed their QC!
@@lookalike6270 Great! What’s the name of the show? I’ll give it a watch
@@ropertv thanks for the insight 👍
Hello again! Great video yet again. I'd love to see a video about four-walling indie films. Keep up the festival and business side of filmmaking plz. Not a lot of people know the business side of the craft, which is why these types of videos are especially helpful. Thank you!
You're welcome! Will look into it - any alternative methods of distribution are always of interest to me so will definitely explore! Keep the suggestions coming! Jim
I just want to say thank you and I appreciate you for putting up these interviews that give insight to all aspects of the film business. Would love some more festival insight interviews
Thank you for saying that - appreciate it! Will definitely be putting up more festival content! Have you ever been to Fright Fest?
@@thehonestfilmmaker I. WISH. Currently making my first feature length. It should be done by February, so I can make the early bird submission for Fright Fest amongst other amazing Horror festivals. You and Film Courage are my main insights to the business side of Filmmaking, so keep that up if possible. Looking forward to the new video in a couple days! Thanks again!
@@Editor_N_Chief awesome! Keep me posted! Best of luck with the feature - exciting times!! 🎬
the money on filmhub has gone down drastically, a lot of platforms that handle movies have also shut down
You, good sir, just got yourself a subscriber from someone who doesn't social media often or well. Really good stuff. The way things continue to shift in the industry has been fascinating. Appreciate Jason's insight into his process and methods.
Thank you and welcome!

Wow, what a great channel. This is fantastic. Thank you so much for starting this.

Hi, dear, I hope you are well. I saw that your TH-cam videos are adorable and very helpful. People are very fond of it. You have enough of the videos but your video is not getting views because there is some problem with your videos. Your SEO score is very poor (25% out of 100). SEO is the most important of any TH-cam Channel. You need to optimize your channel for better results. I can say As a TH-cam expert If your channel can choose the right keywords you can make your video reach the targeted audience. If the videos are full of SEO and update the videos then the views of the video and the channel subscribers will increase And monetization of your channel will be on too fast. If you want I can do it. you can discuss with me. I Can Guarantee to improve Subscriber and video views on any TH-cam channel with my experience. I’m waiting for your response. Thanks
Hard Boiled. This man knows his stuff.
