Hi I'm Liz. I'm a Ministry Leader, Wife, Homeschool Mama, Author, Speaker, and Homesteader.
I hope to help bridge the gap in our modern culture between faith in God and actively living a healthy lifestyle.
For years, I struggled through traumatic brain injury and chronic illness, but I have been healed by the Lord both naturally and supernaturally, but I've been able to shatter every prognosis, amaze my doctors, and gain my life back for the glory of God.
Through adversity, I've been given the blessing of gaining wisdom and insight about spiritual and physical wellness that I now pass along to others in any way I can.
Some topics I'm passionate about include:
Wellness lifestyle from a Biblical Christian perspective
Faith and physical healing
Inner healing and deliverance
Natural wellbeing without compromising spiritually
Health and nutrition
Homesteading and growing your own food
Natural pregnancy and childbirth
Foraging and herbal knowledge

Hebraic-Christian Homeschooling - What it is and how we chose this style for our homeschool family

One of the things Christian parents are faced with today is choosing the style of education we want to provide for our children. There's Classical Christian, Montessori, Charlotte Mason, Unschooling, Waldorf Education, as well as others. I read many books and watched so many videos about the popular styles, but none of them sat perfectly with me until we found this one. Hi, I'm Liz I'm a Wife, ...

Have you tried ABEKA Curriculum? This one has your kiddos reading by 4. Letter identification at 2. They have nursery Curriculum as well.
Thanks so much for the suggestion. I've looked at Abeka and it doesn't really fit our personal style of homeschooling but it might fit yours and that's okay. After doing some research I've come to realize that earlier is not always better. I have a bit of a background in brain science and neuroplasticity, and many neuroscientists that I learn from highly recommend against reading so early. In fact my neuro-optometrist says one reason so many kids have to come to him for vision therapy is because he has to undo the damage that reading too early in today's school system has done to their brains.
Did you look into the Robinson Curriculum? It’s mostly a self led curriculum…
I haven't yet. I'll have to check it out!
I started our homeschooling with using Charlotte mason and we started the books and instantly felt it was a big no. I’ve looked into a lot of other things since and I’m glad you made this video. Now I don’t feel crazy.

I would consider my family Hebrew based as well. Thank you for saving us from wasting money on this company. If you are looking for a study on the constellations without the warped mythology, I suggest looking into the original story of the Mazzaroth, where the story of Redemption has been placed in the stars since the very beginning. The names and story of the constellations were changed from their original to hide the story our Creator put there for us. For example, Scorpio was originally Aqrab meaning "conflict/war", and represents Eternal Death, the consequence for sin (1Corinthians 15:55-57). Through our Messiah, death has no sting and in Him we are victorious. You have to be very careful to research the astronomy of rhe stars, but NOT the astrology. I have found Shauna Manfredine's study from Lighted Way Ministries on the topic to be very well done and will put a link to her blog post if anyone is interested. She is constantly kicked off platforms like this for censorship, so she can be a little difficult to find if you don't know where to look. She also has a book called "God's Amazing Star Secret : The Heavens Tell the Glory (and Story) of God. godsamazingstarsecret.blogspot.com/2019/01/is-mazzaroth-astrology.html?spref=fb&fbclid=IwY2xjawHCjxZleHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHRu1W0YAbLov_wscGck6G5s2t0Ay-v6d5e9p8JiQAl_B8KpG7UclN8hTpg_aem_ecILz_qM_LaGPeL2ZDy8YQ&m=1
I watched you other video on this subject yesterday, came here to watch this one, and just want to say that these are again the exact issues i am seeing. And i say this as someone who really enjoyed greek mythology as a kid. It just makes no sense to me to teach it as though it’s a fairytale. In fact, i was deeply fascinated by all of that sort of thing, greek, norse, fairies, arthurian legends, etc. i devoured books on those subjects. It was all i wanted to read. I thought it was intellectual and creative and special. And I was routinely disappointed. Because i was introduced to them as the fantastic fairytales, and i wanted to keep them in that box, but the more i read, the more I realized how sinister they actually are. They are pagan to the core. They are not innocent, and this repackaged version that we have allowed our minds to be fed is harmful. I would include so many of the “great” authors on that list as well. Shakespeare, Balzac, and so on. In college I even heard professors gloating over how “earthy” and “real” they are, and how funny it is that all the “proper” people will read those but won’t read modern romance novels when they are basically the same thing. And they are absolutely correct! One professor went so far as to make me and one other (male) classmate whom she knew to be Christian as well read a highly inappropriate section of the Canterbury tales aloud in class together purely because she was trying to make us feel uncomfortable. She succeeded, but not in the way she intended. These are essentially well-written trash! They are full of crude worldly material and the pagans and wiccans of the world absolutely love that Christians allow it willingly into their homes. How do I know? Because I used to work as a set builder at the theater of that same college and heard the practicing pagans who also worked there talking about it. They revel in it. And every time i have spoken out about this to other believers I have been lambasted. It’s incredible.
Thank you for sharing that, we believe you!
Thank you for this video. I look forward to hearing more about hebraic Christian homeschooling, i homeschool our three children and i am very interested
@@sammim4213 You are very welcome. So great to connect with you!
I am only a couple minutes in but i already see my own thought processes reflected SO much in yours. I resonate most with the Charlotte mason style, but i cannot commit to any charlotte mason curriculum because to is just so much based on this idealization of Britain. And the other one was CC, but I myself have ADHD and I could NEVER learn in that environment. And like you said, the founders were communistic and pagan!! I just happen to disagree that it is necessary to model our education after these thinkers. If we want to get to the root of our culture in America and what would heal it and our Christian faith I really believe it is hebraic culture and history that will get us there. I have been thinking this for some time and my family has been learning Hebrew all together to help us get started, but I just stumbled across your video today and it is so encouraging and refreshing to hear someone with a similar perspective finally.

I find this new wave of interest in Hebrew culture interesting. We’re not Hebrew though, we’re gentiles. Why don’t we teach our children about the best knowledge our culture (Greeks and Romans) had to offer despite their imperfections? As well as the best from other cultures and civilizations. The “Classical” education style that is popular today should be renamed “Neo-Classical”. It is not the classical education of the past. So that argument doesn’t stand. A more clear definition of Hebraic Christian education would be interesting to hear.
@@meganhimiller scripture says if we are followers of Jesus (Yeshua), we are no longer gentiles, but sons and daughters of Abraham. We were the wild shoots that are now grafted into the olive tree. Jesus was Hebrew, our Holy scriptures were written in Hebrew. Hebrew is the Lord's language. It is full of so much deeper meaning that we lose in other languages. The Biblical Feasts are Hebrew. It was the Greeks and Assyrians that desecrated the Lord's temple and made it a temple to Zeus and forced the Hebrew people (Children of Abraham) to either stop following Adonai and worship the Greek gods or be tortured. Gentile means pagan, I am so thankful that because of Jesus Christ I am no longer pagan, but a daughter of Abraham. ♥️
Amen to all that, Liv! We may have come from a pagan culture but now that we have been blessed with the Spirit and a Saving knowledge of Christ, we should wholesale abandon those pagan cultures! I think it is natural teach ABOUT them, so that we understand the state of our world now, but by no means should we teach THROUGH them. We do not need the Greek philosophers to understand why life is the way it is when we have the creator of the world speaking directly to us through is word. Does that mean we can’t use math or logic? Of course not. But we have to understand that God built the framework upon which all of those things hang, and the philosophers who developed the system are not the be all end all to understanding them, if at all because they were not inspired by the creator himself. If I have to pick between my child be a math whiz or having an unshakable relationship with Christ and her creator, I will pick her dependence on Christ every time. That doesn’t mean I won’t teach her math, it just means I’ll be doing so with a heavy emphasis on the God who made a world where math is at all relevant.
Can you add some resources to get us started with Herbraic Christian homeschooling? Thanks!

Thank you so much for your thorough time in looking through your curriculum choices for your children. I have felt the same way looking through multiple “Christian resources” including this one, and have had to put together my own selection of various choices that reflect as much as I can get of a Biblical way of teaching truth and avoiding persistent pagan teachings, that the world holds as valuable. We have to be discerning of the resources we use and not just trust a particular source. I have also had to throw away resources as well because I did not want them in my home, and did not want to give them to others either. Thank you again. Many blessings to you!

Wow! You are exactly right, I never knew what to call what I was looking for, but I loved this and that about other styles and never the whole thing. Can't wait to to learn more! Do you have a directory for Hebraic Christian co-ops? Maybe I missed it in the video, but do you attend a Messianic or Hebraic Church? We are currently well established in our church but there is a Messianic community in our area we have considered trying.
@@CarrieMartin-zi8qd so glad to connect with you! Honestly we don't know any co-ops like ours yet but the great news is we are looking to try to make ours available online soon! We don't attend a particularly Messianic church but our church incorporates a lot of the Biblical Moedim and such. We also lead a ministry that is more Hebraic. We love many Messianic resources but we try to make sure whatever we are doing is something we pick up because it's biblical and not just a Jewish tradition. As we've explored this over the years we've adjusted how we observe things. I talk about this a bit in my recent Chanukah video. I'll probably do a longer more informative video soon about that too. I'm just so excited to see such a great response online about this style of education.

My experience: Everytime I have been approached by someone heavily involved in the classical education movement (mainly a certain one), they have either been very condescending or cult-like in their conversations.
I have not heard about this style of homeschool but I am interested in learning more. We tried the classical approach in a co op but homeschooled differently at home. It did not sit well with me either. I tend to take a more research based approach. I find research is always proving God right. I never understand why learning Latin was a big thing in the classical mindset. Then, I learned it was so one could read the Bible in Latin. The original Bible is not written in Latin though. That was a big red flag for me. Where do I find more information about this style?
Thank you so much for this information. I am highly interested in Hebraic education as well. We are relaxed Hebraic learners😊I am a new subscriber! Glad this showed up in my feed. A lot of manmade systems are set on Roman and Greek philosophy. It is hierarchy which is the opposite of The Most High Kingdom!😊 I do like Charlotte Mason, we tend to learn from all of types of styles 😊 I have ADHD and Autistic traits so classical was never an option for us it is way too stiff and proper and as you said pagan and doesn't seem to leave any room for the Ruah Kodesh Shalom in him ❤ We absolutely need to think more like a Hebrew 😊❤🎉
Modern US education is the Dewey system… Not classical by any means.
@@skywisherr compared to Hebraic education, it is definitely more influenced by the Greeks.
@ You created your own category irresponsibly and it’s no different than leftists thinking they know better. And that 2+ 2 no longer equals 4 based on who originally said it equals 4. You’re closer to eastern occidental thinking in your idea of Hebraic education. But eastern leaves out the desperate God blessed need for logic and reason. Logic and reason come from God. Patterns, predictability, all of this is grace from our Savior pointing directly to Him. It’s imprinted in our world’s lifeblood and it’s why every thinker will experience the same things. It is reality. I love your heart for God and your family, but I sincerely urge you to not influence people when you do not understand these concepts yourself. Guilt by association - look it up. It’s your argument and it’s a logical fallacy.
Aristotle is only a “forefather” because he’s the father of logic. Which as we all know is in short supply today. The second quote you mentioned was the literal start of philosophy. 😅 Have you ever studied these people? Or why they’re important? Your definition and description of classical education is wrong. Look up the essay by Dorothy L. Sayers. It’s called the Lost Tools of Learning. I say this because you will find the theory of classical education you’re greatly misrepresenting here. I would also realize that these different types of educating are not just landed on as styles. They are philosophies. Pedagogical frameworks. Has nothing to do with learning or classrooms. Do we discredit Einstein’s work based of his belief or disbelief in God? Charlotte Mason said homeschooling sucks. Does that mean we discredit her? “Why are you shaping their mind a certain way?” We all shape our children’s minds! There is no such thing unbiased teaching. And that is a fact true from birth. That’s why home education is so important. So that we can point the way to the Lord.
I diddo what @skywisherr is saying about shaping your kids mind. Kid’s minds are being shaped regardless. The neo-classical education styles (Christian or Secular versions) are intending to give the child the skill of “Rhetoric”, basically critical thinking. Being surrounded by many different, challenging beliefs as an adult, having a child exposed to other ways of thinking in an age-appropriate way is key. We don’t live in a sheltered ancient Hebrew village in the Middle East. (But I wonder if that’s the goal of Hebraic Christianity?) I don’t mean to sound mean, I appreciate your perspective and your video as I research homeschool styles!
I am so glad your video showed up in my TH-cam! I will be watching for more about homeschooling from a Hebraic Perspective!

Thank you for pointing this out. My daughter is 3 years old so we’re still doing play based learning, this is good to know for when she’s older. I had heard a lot of positive things and also some mixed reviews about classical learning from those around us and so this is definitely opening my eyes. Regarding the second book you mentioned that’s definitely more astrology, which is very very different from astronomy. As Christians, We should be studying astronomy with a biblical perspective and that’s a bummer that that book was so much about the gods because when you take a proper astronomy class, it’s like not even about that at all. Thank you for this insight - God bless you and your family. Subscribing now!

@LizLivesWell the Feast Days are taught in Language Lessons for a Living Education...now I will say there is typically 1or 2 pages with a Christmas tree activity ( I tear those out...and occasionally they have a reading pg with a "Christmas play" again I tear that out or we don't use it. But the Feast Day explanations are at the right time of yr & much more focus is put on those in accordance with the Holy Days and we have really enjoyed it. They are a "non denominational" curriculum by explanation. But the Feast Days are straight Bible so ..they are explained nicely
@CH-gn7rf that's cool to know thanks!

There are also books about the gospel in the stars instead of Greek/Roman gods. I believe Answers in Genesis sells it.
That is a Catholic curriculum. You are absolutely right! I came from a Catholic upbringing, so I recognize that right away to stay away from. I always felt weird teaching the Greek and Roman gods to my kids. We just focused on comparing them and that they are pagan gods. Isn’t it interesting how our culture has had a fascination with these things in the last 10-15 yrs through the movies.
Love this! I would enjoy seeing what curriculum you use. ❤
@@countrywisheshomeschool we are still pretty new to homeschool in the past few years and figuring it out as we go. I piece together a lot of curriculum and will definitely do some videos about that. We currently use Generations as a base to work from, but I am only familiar with the first couple years of it right now, so I can't speak for the upper grades.
@LizLivesWell Ok, awesome! We love Generations curriculum! I have some videos about what we have used if you are interested.
That curriculum sounds more like catholic thank Christian
