The Gaming Monster You Shouldn't Buy In 2023
I literally just bought one(Gold Edition) with a 2 tb sata SSD with 60 cd games for $400
Best upgrade to do for a one x with the sata 3 interface older Xbox one have a sata 2 connection. I sold my og Xbox one for almost the price of the one x best 40euro in my life 🎉 and a ssd for 40euro was 80euro in total for a great halo infinite 60fps experience with the og Xbox one. I couldn't stand the 30fps with stuttering all over. And a series s doesn't have a disk drive was a no go for me! Plus the xsx and s the ssd cards are wtf expensive Microsoft do something about it
Hey there. When will a new video come out? And how are you in general?
The ONEX is a Beast the only problem MS abandonin it you cant eve not play Starfield such a joke and the XBOX one X has so much power it will handle Starfiled like Nuts and with the SSD even MORE!
The issue the One X has isn't graphical power, but CPU. The lackluster AMD Jaguar CPU wouldn't provide enough juice to get 30FPS on Starfield, nor does it provide a high enough throughput for the SSD. So in the end, it would look fine but run at 10FPS or less.
@@JosMyOpinion No way Belive me even Cyberpunk 2077 runs on a older Xbox One with Hdd , if they Optimized Starfield for the ONE X belive it will run amazing even if 1080 P , iz a Shame from MS when the one X came out at the launch Spencer lyed about No one will left behind but Xbox ONE X users are left behid.
Warzone is killing my 2070 now too. It keeps crashing and the vram is giving out 😢 time to save up for a 7900XTX
That sucks! Hopefully it can hold on until you are able to replace it. I ordered a 5700 XT for $130 to replace mine since for the price it's the best performance I could get.
🍀 Promo`SM
Pretty sure it can do 60 with fsr2.1 tho 6:04
Correct! I just sold that PC 2 days ago, and before I did I replaced the thermal paste and benched Warzone again with the competitive settings and FSR on and it did 68 on average in Al Mazrah.
@@JosMyOpinion damnnnn good ✌️
bruh a 2600x in warzone 2.0.... you are brave lol. this game manages to get bottlenecked by my 10900k. anything over 140fps is unatainable for me
It definitely taps out somewhere around 70-75 FPS at 1080p. That's the benefit of the AM4 platform though, sell the 2600X and throw in a 5600, that issue goes away.
my side pc has a 1050 ti and it runs a lot of games better than you are giving it credit for , i can play fallout 4 at 60fps with no issues plus many other games
Fallout 4 released in 2015, a year before the 1050 Ti. If those are the games you're playing, and you already have one of these, or find one super cheap, then it makes total sense to use it for that. If you need a new budget GPU, it's best to look elsewhere to get more for your money. A $75 8GB RX580 is a much better buy.
@@JosMyOpinion I have a 1660 ti in my main pc. I am waiting for the prices to go down a bit more before i upgrade. As far as the 1050 ti , i'm not looking to upgrade that system, i don't use it for any heavy gaming , it is where i keep my games like fallout 4 and on my main games that are a little more demanding like Cyberpunk , Halo Infinite , Black Desert , etc etc
@@JosMyOpinion I dont know where you got that price but a new one right now is between 140 and 190
Definitely a good idea to wait for prices to come down a little more before deciding what to upgrade to. You can find used 8GB RX580's for $75, sometimes less, and new ones for $90 on eBay, Amazon, Newegg and AliExpress.
@@JosMyOpinion the search i did the cheapest i seen was 141.99 and the highest was 190ish
I have one laptop with 1070 and going strong in 2023...I just reinstalled everything to give it to my 7yo son....starting the GAMER life :)
That's awesome! A great introduction to gaming for a 7 year old. 🎉
Sorry for your lost. You hate to see it happen. Interestingly, Northwestrepair made videos reporting faulty vram with 20 series gpus made from 2018. Sadly when this happens you have to replace all of the chips. Cant say it applies to super cards but I pray mine lasts.
I hope yours lasts too, having it fail abruptly was a pain in the ass.

I think to some people the real game is seeing how long they can get away with cheating.
You know, absolutely no one, even me, has made that point yet and it's a very solid one. Maybe they just enjoy the game of cheating and the thrill of not being caught.
I purchased a premade that had one of these in it. I paid £50 for the tower so anything in it was going to be a bonus or throw away. I would have paid £50 just for the psu and rgb set up. I have since used the 3gb 1060 in a build for my nephew and it is was 100 percent worth it as his former card was a gtx 960 and he can now play elden ring and hogwarts pretty smoothly. Yeah I know its not ideal and when I have a spare rx 6700 lying about, I will toss him that to bring him to the minimum vram generation. Tl;dr It is worth it if you buy it in a bundle and it effectively cost you nothing to upgrade a subpar card. Is it worth the £75 people charge for it on fleabay and used tech shops? No because for £20 quid more you can get the bare minimum 1080p card, the 1060 6gb and really you should avoid both and get the rx 580 8gb just for the vram and well, better everything by simply not saying nvidia.
Great points. If it's included in a build that you're practically stealing, get it, use it, whatever. Otherwise, not worth buying when the RX580 exists. Even more so, for around $100 (not sure if you can find them in the UK at equivalent prices) you can get the 5500XT as well, which also has the added benefit of the RSR driver based upscaling if you are struggling to get performance in a game that doesn't have FSR included. 8GB of VRAM is going to be fine for quite a while for 1080p medium settings, but when we cross the threshold of 1440p having more share than 1080p, 10-12GB at medium will not be uncommon.
I don't suppose you tried the oven trick?
😂 I was waiting for someone to bring that up. Not yet, "reballing" doesn't tend to work either and the smell can be obnoxious. I'll try it at some point, but I already ordered a replacement GPU so this one can sit on my display shelf for now.
Warzone - Ryzen bottlenecking.
It did appear that the 2600X had at least one loaded core and was causing performance issues, but given that the VRAM immediately failed at the end of this game session, I can only assume that it had something to do with it.
Yup love mine, got it for $183 dollars (white), just like new. Beautiful 4K gaming, even newer games like Atomic Heart, Evil West etc. Honestly graphically there is little difference between it and the Series X. Very minor if so. Just get an SSD and you're golden. FPS is always steady as well.
Ooo a white one, those look slick. Agreed, if you just want to play great looking games and 30 FPS is fine for you it's still worth it. I have it in my living room just to play when I want to relax, and it looks and feels great from that distance.
My opinion the Series X is next gen compared to one X Series X games on A 4k display looks near photoreal.
First of all, I hope you get an external capture device for benchmarks. I don't know you and this is the first time I watch one of your videos, so obviously I feel right giving you an advice. Jokes aside, cool video. I had a 970 in my PC till I bought a 1660 Super just before the release of the 30xx series. Then I sold the 970 (last summer). Great card and I never had any issues with its performance. Having said that, I didn't have CP2077 at the time and I don't play the multiplayer games that seem to require all the power. Good video.
I probably won't get an external capture card for GPU stuff, only for the consoles. I'm not trying to be scientific, just give an idea of expected performance for builds, etc... 😂 That's pretty funny though, accurately capturing the TH-cam comments section. Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it. Your 970 lasted a very long time for sure. I just made a community post if you wanted to drop some ideas for games to add to the benchmark roundup!
sold my 1070 recently because i upgraded to the rtx 4070ti. it was a fantastic card since i got it in 2017 and served me well but modern games are struggling somewhat.
Modern games are struggling on modern hardware too. I think anything over 3 or 4 years old is really going to see the end of its usable life soon very soon, which will make it cheaper for those who don't want to play the most demanding titles, but will mean minimum settings for modern games.
@@JosMyOpinion If the devs put in effort then the games will run fine. The recently released dead island 2 runs at like 150 frames at 1440p maximum settings on the 4070ti.
@@JudeTheTH-camPoopersubscribe Absolutely I can get 170-180 quite often with my 6900XT, but given how common the issue of optimization is now, I don't anticipate it getting much better. I hope I'm wrong but ... I doubt it.
Still got mine running here, would love to upgrade the whole system but mortgage, kids, wifey, bills etc means i always put it onthe backburner. I am still rocking my old system too, an old AMD fx 8150 Eight-Core Processor, on a Asus sabretooth 990fx r1 motherboard with 24gb ram. I dare sayatsome point i will upgrade.... perhaps when i retire!! It runs ghost recon wildlands pretty good for me and a few other older games. Gotta figure out what to upgrade to and if wifey will let me!
You know, that old Bulldozer system isn't the worst thing you could be stuck on. There are many priorities above PC gaming, but when you get the chance to do that thing for yourself, you're going to have a fantastic time. If I can make a recommendation, I suspect you'd have a HUGE leap forward if you were to do something like a B550, Ryzen 5 5600, 32GB 3600 DDR4, a 1TB NVMe (plus your current storage), and either a 6700 XT or a 7600 XT if that has 12GB of VRAM. You could keep your same case and PSU if you wanted to, otherwise there are so many budget options for both that are great as well.
@@V8_SSP Change the CPU to a 5600 or 5600X as the 7600X is not compatible with the B550. Change the RAM to 32GB of 3600Mhz for improved performance. And, this is personal preference as Nvidia vs AMD tends to be but an RX 6700 XT or RX 6750 XT, even an RX 6800, is going to be a much better buy for longevity than an RTX 3070. The 6700 XT is slightly weaker but has 12GB of VRAM, the 6750 XT is slightly better, and the 6800 is a monster for the price. If you only want an Nvidia card, see what the best priced 12GB card is (except the 3060). Hopefully that helps!

Entertaining Video as always. The 5500XT fix vid would be a good idea 👍 Btw i‘ve discovered at least on my GPU, that you actually have to spread the thermalpaste perfectly on the gpu die. The Hotspot temperature went down by 20c degrees. I think it‘s because the pressure of the GPU cooler wasn’t enough for the thermalpaste to spread perfectly. Just a little discovery
Thank you! I got the 5500 XT ready to start working on it. You know, that's a great point. There are probably some GPU coolers that even with proper pressure don't spread the paste across the die evenly. I've not had that issue with any of mine up to this point, but it makes me curious enough that it might be worth at least a short video. Not sure how many GPUs I have, 12 maybe? That might be enough. 🤔
@@JosMyOpinion my GPU cooler died, so I had to replace it with an arctic accelero 3. It was an unwanted upgrade 😅 However… I had that thermalpaste problem with such a heavy and big heatsink. I use the RX 5700. The rival of the RTX 2070 😅 I hope your channel will get more attention because you deserve it👍✌️
Ahhh, that would make sense. If it's a large, heavy, heatsink but only attached by the 4 screws it might not apply pressure evenly. Do you have a 5700 non XT? I'm probably going to buy a 5700 XT for around $150 to replace the 2070 since they're still going for more than that.
@@JosMyOpinion absolutely still worth it. I have the non XT. I can play everything at 1440p or with some optimisation 1800p (the sweetspot between 2K and 4K no one talks about for whatever reason)

can't believe that anti cheat still is not a thing on linux
That's exactly why most of the popular multiplayer games don't even support it. DRM / Piracy / Cheating is a primary concern for publishers with launching titles on Linux.

AMD HYZEN FTW! Nice combo for teh proice.
Not spending those few extra bucks on the 6 GB version was a mistake I deeply regretted for years.
It's going to be the same for anyone who bought a 3060 with 8GB vs 12GB.
I am still running my EVGA 1070 FTW with a 7700k, 32 GB of DDR4 and it rocks, have it for 6 years, bought it for £110 off a friend of mine when it was 1 year old, he had replaced the thermal pads and repasted it before it got it, so i think that was an awesome deal. The card is solid and performance is pretty amazing considering, runs much better than the Asus model shown here in the benchmarks for some reason?. Thanks Jos first time watching your video's. New sub :)
Jeez, £110 in 2017?! You stole that card, especially if you're still using it today - what a deal. I'm assuming that the reason your card is probably able to perform better is because this one kept running into its thermal limit as set by MSI Afterburner which was 83C. This will drop the clock speeds to keep the temperature in target rather than maxing out performance. I still haven't had a chance to tear it down and see if there is something causing the heat like dry thermal paste, missing thermal pads, or bad fans. Thank you for watching and subscribing, I really appreciate it.
110 GBP after 1 year was a very very friendly deal. I have that same card, I'm taking it to a 13600K system :)
Nice video. I had a GTX 1070 in my previous system and upgraded to a slightly newer system with a GTX 1080ti. It might be because I am running it on Linux but I have gotten some really bizarre results with the built in benchmark. Good example of this is enabling FSR actually completely tanks the benchmark results for no apparently reason even though the actual run seems pretty smooth so I no longer trust the results the benchmark gives me. Especially since they have no bearing on actual performance in real gameplay.
Thanks! That's a weird outcome of enabling FSR in a benchmark. I've seen that happen in certain games and I have to restart it for the issue to go away. I agree with benchmarks not being a great indication of actual gameplay either, I don't even use any outside of trying out weird undervolt / overclock combinations.
As long as you keep your expectations in check (I.e. understand settings needed for 60+ FPS target are likely going to be low, or otherwise have a console-like experience with higher fidelity) and understand what games you’re aiming to play, the 1050Ti is still a really good card.
💯 It really surprised me how well it continues to perform even in 2023. Someone looking for what this card offers will really be able to enjoy it still.
You should probably test out Football Manager…
😂 Just for you
I run a very similar build, with a Strix 1070 and a Ryzen 5 3600. Its a good 1080p setup for small bucks.
