Personally when winter camping I do not run my heater all night I have a minis 20 degree sleeping bag and a couple extra down comforters on hand. Dress appropriately in bed base-layer top and bottoms socks and skull cap. As for water? Camper winterized blue 5 gallon carry tank with a Spicket. Shower in the winter? Crazy, boil some water, get a towel wet, scrub down with a wet wipe followed by warm towel. Done. Wet wipes in microwave. Predator generator ABSOLUTELY.
Is there a reason you don't use antifreeze in your black tanks instead of salt?
We tried antifreeze in both tanks and we found that the salt prevents that solid waste from freezing a bit better
Hahaha! Goose with the tree limb!
Hahah it’s a once a day occurrence 😂
Good tips! While you can use the little propane heaters indoors, they produce a TON of humidity, so I'd only recommend them as a plan B. You're right that dehumidifier is a must for winter camping. I added a long heat strip (powered by our batteries) that heats both our waste termination pipes and the only fresh water pipes under our fifth wheel, and we've had no issues with anything freezing well into the 10s F.
Yes! This is a great point. I should have mentioned it. We really only bring the buddy heater out when we’re running low on options but it’s great to have!
Excellent tips.
@@rvnut1133 thank you! Been lots of trial and error
Great video man. My dad put tank heating pads on a 19ft micorlite trailer and brought it to Idaho 3 times in really cold weather. He runs a predator 3500 too and was good to go. He didnt boondock but it was single digits at times. I use an Artic Fox as a remote office a couple days a week and will spend some cold nights in it this winter (full hookup luckily). Love that you did -35 in a polar vortex in a camper trailer!!
@@westernsoutherner1 awesome! I think we’ll probably save up to have someone install those heating pads I hear they make a difference. How do you like that artic fox? I’ve got my eyes on the me of their truck campers
@@MackOnTheRoad I like it you can tell its a heavy duty rig. I would like to have one of their truck campers too.
I love this idea, are you independently wealthy or work for home? How do you make a living? How is this even possible! Wow! Amazing LIFE bro! 😎
@@shanearnold8856 haha definitely not wealthy. We both work full time jobs but remotely. We knew we wanted to travel before buying a house and having kids!
@ Thanks for responding. Awesome! Does the RV get cold in the winter? 🥶 Are you out west? If so, have you even been snowed in? The wife and I are driving from Florida to Copper Mountain in January. We like road trips. We are kinda weird that way, I guess?!? Happy Trails! Good luck to you and your family!!
@ check out the latest video we posted. All about winter camping. If you’re at a campground it’s a little bit different but absolutely worth it! We stayed at a campground in Leadville last year to ski copper. It’s a great town!
Excellent,
Thank you!
The town is Jackson not Jackson Hole.

Yeah bruv! I'm jealous. I'm out in beautiful Colorado as well but I'm a lowlander... I envy your family's lifestyle nonetheless
The reason we’re out here is because we envied you CO folk lifestyle! We’re from FL so it’s a big change. You have a beautiful state!
@MackOnTheRoad and we welcome you whole heartedly!

Thanks for the advice. Good job!
You got it! Pro’s and Con’s of winter camping coming soon
it's funny hearing this melinnial say "rig" lol
What are you supposed to say 😂
it's funny reading how you spell 'melinnial' lol
oh i used a heating blanket on my bed at night, nice and toasty my airstream had vented heat throughout the trailer gas and electric heating too, water heater, 10 gal. gas and electric. 1969 vintage
@@Marc-fi5pw yes! Electric blankets are a must!! Saves propane too if you’re toasty in bed
are you using heated tape on hoses for water lines to trailer? i saw a guy using warm light inside his area where to dump parts of his truck camper (dump site) be careful about using too hot of a heat lamp. i lived in my 39 ft. airstream throughout college during very cold high mountain areas. i used heat tape on water line to my trailer. they do go bad so i always checked them regularly, if the light is on, it is work. plus, you can feel the heat with your fingers.
@@Marc-fi5pw since we’re boondocking we aren’t hooked up to water so we don’t have a need for heating a hose or heat the garage. However if you’re at a campground, yes, use heat tape on the hose and insulate, and a lamp at the city water intake
I made an error, my trailer was 29 ft long not, 39 ft. sorry for error.
I'm also looking forward to winter camping and filming it. Water wise if we go for a few days we don't worry about using water we winterized it and just take jugs eith us. Works for us but hey great video. I had to subscribe. I'm also new with videos. It's an adventure. Happy trails 👣
This La Niña will be a cold winter for out west so gear up! Thats exactly what I would do about what if I were only making weekend trips, will you still use your tanks?
@MackOnTheRoad I woukd still use my pl tanks for cooking but for heat we use a space heater. The heater we use is in out last video
Wow, there's a lot that goes into winter camping. What an adventure.
@@josephmiller876 yes, definitely a switch up but it’s my absolute favorite!

My parents have a sailboat and we sail multiple months a year, so I think Starlink is 100% worth it for people like us, or people who travel to remote places a lot. Specially as it will get cheaper in the future But another reason I want to support Starlink is because it's a beacon of hope for freedom of speach and against censorship. And Elon Musk supports those ideals too, he is a good man I don't know if you've heard this but the current government in Brazil has just tried to ban X (Twitter) in the country, to supress political opposition. The country's last presidential election was incredibly controversial and rumored to have been manipulated. The current government has ties with Venezuela and I've heard a lot from friends living there that they're trying to turn brazil into a second Cuba (I'm an expat residing currently in Uruguay). Straight up communism, and that woke politics is reigning in there too
Yes 100% worth it when you travel like that. Also agreed! I think Elon is doing a great service for the world!
By chance have you been back there since this idea? Wondering if you saw the grizzly that’s been reported hanging around up there.
