Adventure Motorcycling - Aim For The Horizon Trailer
This is one of the best things I have ever seen on youtube! Absolutely amazing story and mates like that make for a full life.
I’m inspired, what a journey well done boys 👌🏻
Such a great adventure from start to finish. This is what adv motorcycling is about, it is seldom the destination but the journey.
Fantastic mate. Really enjoyed that ❤️
Already done that 😂
Im 55, been touring with my best friend for 20 years. Best times of my life. He died of cancer last year. I didnt just lose my best friend but lost all the future tours we planned together. We had a trip to morroco booked and i have shifted ferry to this summer and am going to solo it. Off road and on road. Certain amount of trepidation especially off road sections solo, but excited for it. I cant imagine life without bikes and travel. This is a very important film, particularly for men of a certain age trying to make sense of life post kids, and very inspirational. Needs to be watched far and wide, could save some lives, certainly enhance many. Thankyou.
IF you ever plan a trip to India, you have me to ride along mate
Every now and then we come across a video/film/youtube that has that WOW factor. This was so enjoyable and engaging. So informative and inspiring. Thank you so much for producing and sharing. My girlfriend has her own youtube channel and I know how hard and demanding it is to film and edit let alone the preparation like cameras, batteries etc. So THANK YOU again. Hope you do more films, this was BRILLIANT. you attending the ABR in July this year? I expect you would be invited as a guest speaker. Stay safe.
great show - loved it.
Really appreciate that-glad you loved it! I’d love to keep making more, so if you enjoyed it, a like, share, or subscribe would really help. Cheers! Rob
38:36 i am glad they have gone 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Haha, I know. It was the camera mans idea. I had no idea he'd got everyone to say this until I edited the film. I was in stitches. Thanks for watching. I'd love to make more so am trying to grow the channel, so a like, share, or subscribe would mean a lot. Cheers! Rob 😊
Totally enjoyable video. So much in here reminded me of enduring my Special Forces (Australia) selection, where, out of the unknown, I actually learned more about myself than I did about the Australian SAS Regiment I joined. Getting out of your comfort zone is so critical in life, taking on challenges beyond your imagination, it all contributes to making you a better person. Just loved the last minute of this video, so funny. Well done guys, especially Rob.
Wow, that’s some serious praise-thank you! But let’s be real, this was nowhere near Special Forces level! Massive respect for what you’ve done. Glad you enjoyed it-especially that last minute! I’d love to make more films, so I’m trying to grow the channel-if you can, hit like, subscribe, and let me know what you’d love to see next. It really helps! Cheers, Rob
wow amazing! the off road training looks awesome! I think I need to get some of that also

Also, huge respect for what you’ve built on your channel-I’d love to keep making more films and grow the channel so I can make more films. Really appreciate that-so glad you enjoyed it! It was an incredible adventure, and I’m already looking forward to the next one. Hoping to make more like this, so if you can, a like, share, or spreading the word would mean a lot. Cheers! Rob
This was absolutely engaging from begining to end, not old by anyway, pure determination, perseverance and endurance, had felt every moment, the lows, highs, pain, exhaustion and achievements of reaching the goal.. well many, leaves one where too next.. if not that this shows what anyone can achieve.. but we could all at times do with a Rob as driving force.. It's taking that step as a Bike is a Life changer, was for me and my story would continue had not party/ies unknown not stolen this old mans 21 Himalayan BS4 411 afternoon Christmass Eve, Morrisons car park, Cannock, Staffs.. costly Tuckey..! Not found and the settlement means with lack of funds will unlikely not replace with anything the same or at all..
Really appreciate your words-means a lot to know the film connected with you like that. Gutted to hear about your Himalayan, especially on Christmas Eve. That’s a real kick in the teeth. Bikes aren’t just machines; they’re part of who we are. I really hope you find a way back to two wheels soon-sometimes life has a way of making it happen. If you can please like and subscribe. It's really appreciated. Thanks again for sharing, and all the best. Ride safe, Rob

so this was filmed in 2008?
Late 2008 in to 2009. It went to DVD originally. Fortunately I shot it at a high broadcast standard so was able to share it still 16 years later. @@FixRideExplore Ah you are Rob!, Thanks for the offer but I should be ok just doing the rebuild slowly and have tons of photos and a video from when I took the transmision out which is probably the scarry bit. Good luck with the channel!!
This is class! Loved it. Inspiring film. Has got me buzzing for our trip in April to Portugal. I'd love to know what you're up to now? Still riding together? Cheers Jim. Uk.
Dean rode for a couple more years but has recently hung up his gloves. I continued and became more and more addicted to exploring on a bike. I can't believe the BS you must do to ride a motorcycle in your country. Of course, some training is understandable, but it's truly nuts. Lucky You passed, now pay up! Truth be told, many daily riders will fail the test 1 years later.
I think it's got harder in recent years. Thanks for watching. Be great if you could like, subscribe and even share the film. It'll really help me grow the channel and make more films.
Ok, I already watched the full Movie! 😁 Awesome! You both are brilliant! 👌 Lucky man you are having such a nechanic as best Buddy! Your Africa Twin, actualy both, is (are) doing great! Superb - so well filmed, and what a journey ! Very happy for you and your life journey - take care of yourself 👌👍
Thank you. Straight back at you. Ride safe Rob
I understand completely Dean. My wife, my soulmate, died a few years back, and I've lost all confidence myself. I know exactly how you felt. I've been making these big, sweeping changes too, albeit alone now. Rob, if you read these comments, brother, you are one in a million, and worth your weight in gold. Ya'll be safe.
I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope that you are doing ok. Just keep on moving forward. It incredibly kind of you to say that about me and means a lot. Thank you. Stay safe. Rob
Great ! I’m a bike fan and a watch fan… what’s your watch, can’t work it out - you are never still enough to get an idea what it is 😂
I'm not sure which one Dean was wearing but I'll find out for you. Thanks for watching. It would be great of you could like and subscribe. I'm trying to grow the channel and it really helps. Rob
I had a friend like Rob once. We rode many thousands of miles together over the course of 20+ years. He died of colon cancer in the fall of 2023, at the age of 56. He would have loved this video.
I'm so sorry to hear this. It a harsh reminder of how short life can be and how valuable it is. It's really kind of you to say this about me and I think I can speak for your friend when I say it's a privilege to be able to ride and help people we care about. What I've learnt is the he most important thing about any journey is the people we share it with. I hope you're still riding. Maybe one day we can all have a group ride. Ride safe buddy. Thanks again Rob
You're bike is beautiful, that's the bike I had on my wall as kid, I have a Honda varadeo 1000

Great story but what am I missing. What happened to Dean in life?
@@motorcyclistfromholland8856 He started beaten and returned knowing he could do anything he set his mind to. This was 15 years ago and he's gone from strength to strength. I'm hoping to do a Q&A video with Dean at some point where he can look back on the experience. Best Rob
@@FixRideExplore Is he still riding ? - Just finished watching the whole film and I think that's the only thing 'missing' - a bit more of the story of why he was so down in the first place... but I totally get that might not have been something he was willing to go in to. Really great watch anyway! Q&A follow up with him would be great content - best of luck with the channel. Empuriabrava section brought back a lot of memories as I jumped there back then too!👍
@@CoreDaveP I'll speak with him about doing a Q&A vid once the series has aired. He's not ridden for a while now as life took him in a different direction. Plus he more than achieved his ambition. We spoken about another adventure but that's likely for another day. Thanks for your message and support. It all helps Rob

If you haven’t seen Adam Riemann’s series on his ‘Warhorse’ Africa Twin then you should watch it, a similar brilliant story …
I have and loved it. I've been subscribed to him for years. This was filmed 15 years ago so when I saw his warhorse videos it brought all my memories flooding back. I wonder if he has seen this?... Thanks so much for your comments. Ride safe. Rob
Brilliant film which deserves many more views. Great filming etc but perhaps most importantly fantastic relaxed narration and banter between you both which is perhaps the most difficult thing to achieve 👏👏👏
Thank you so much. This is a fantastic comment to receive. I would really like to start making more films like this so am trying to grow the channel. I'd even love to take others on there own adventures. Fingers crossed. If you could like, subscribe and even share it really would help. Thanks again Rob
This is excellent. Really well done. I'm curious when it was filmed. My biggest clue is that Zumo. Probably other clues I didn't pay attention to. Takes nothing away from the story, just pure curiosity. fwiw, I just bought my first adventure bike, coming from naked bikes. Such a different animal of a bike, all in great ways.
Thank you for the great comment. It was film about 15 years ago and released on DVD. Fortunately I shot it at a very high broadcast standard which has meant I've been able to share it here. @FixRideExplore done, and shared the video with several friends, all the best to you and the channel
@tozelua thank you so much.
It all seems quite complicated in the UK. I don't know if its a mindset or government regulations. The one good thing about living in the US is if you pass the road test you're good to go for life! Happy trails everyone! 😊😊😊😊😊
That's how it should be , I used to be a Motorbike instructor, part time for about six years , teaching C B T & up to road test standard , on road training and fault finding is always the best way 👌 You have to pass you test if your under 24 your limited to 47 b h p , then for the bigger bike licence you have to take the whole test again .
In the UK , pass your driving test and drive what you like. With Motorbikes you've got all these hoops to jump through for a varity of different licences ! It's one big money grab in the UK.
It's definitely a long winded process. I think it's become more complicated since we filmed this. If you don't want to wait for the other episodes the full film is linked in the pinned comment and description. If you could like, subscribe and even share it really would help me grow the channel and one make more films like this.
