How did you edit out the wrong half of the word? 3:00
I’m a cadet in the Civil Air Patrol and this reminds me so much of my basic encampment. It’s hard but it’s hard for a reason and it’s all worth it in the end.
(BQ '76) We didn't have anything like this in my day, but they did in Ranger School; good practice.
(BQ '76, Army commission, Infantry, Airborne, Ranger) You what is missing in the eyes of the pissheads? Hate. They just look tired and frustrated; there is no fear in the eyes of the fish. They reminded me of rabid dogs. The point is to make these cadets able to handle the stress of leading people in combat; it is the reason for the Corps to exist. Even in Ranger School, there was only one trick the cadre played on us that I hadn't already endured - I was ready. Some changes in tradition: when we stated hometown, we only said state/country if not in Texas, and we didn't say anything about being on contract (will be commissioned upon graduation). And "red-ass" Air Force? Made me laugh. We considered the Air Force outfits too easy. Hard was Fish Drill Team, Fightin' Texas Aggie Band, Naval (Marines & Navy, but run as if Marine outfit), Army, and then Air Force. Still, harder than any non-reg ever went through... It's like going to college while also being in Boot Camp. Very few have what it takes.
(BQ '76) "TWEET, DAMN IT, TWEET!!" No Fish Orientation Week; just smiling upperclassmen - until the parents were all gone on Sunday night... I never saw any of them smile for weeks; the zips were mean, the sergebutts hated us, and the pissheads were rabid dogs. They were in a hurry to run off the weak. For the first three weeks, I got four hours of sleep before M,W,F, formation and two hours before inspection on T, Th. And what they drilled into us is still buried deep in my brain. At 5:18 he started "...ROSS!" and I started doing it with him. I'm sure Campusology has changed; there are no "blinking sabers", or "dunking sabers" anymore. The saddest part is they no longer eat family-style, with the fish on the "hot corner" and Duncan Volunteers (cadet waiters) bringing food and tea as fast as they could walk to dump off big platters and go get more. "Go whip out!" And then the A.F. cadets scatter. The BQ fish were taught to get in line behind one man who was in a hurry. It is a great sin to forget the name of someone who whipped out to you. So we would whip out and then get back in line. Zips could blow you off, but juniors and sophomores had to meet all of you. And when you came around for the second time - and you knew their name but they didn't remember yours - they had to whip out to you! NEVER be the victim; always counter-attack. It was always such fun (but we weren't allowed to smile) to see the look on their face when they glanced over their shoulder and knew they'd been had; the line was unending until they walked into their own dorm and then the prank was over.
(BQ '76) If I remember right, at mid-semester we got temporary grades, and if we were passing enough courses then to have 90 hours at the end of the semester (assuming we didn't fail anything currently passing), we could order our rings. But it was no big deal as they do it today, and no 'dunking' it in a pitcher of beer. Individually, we went to a small building on the north side of campus and picked up our ring. It was the same building where they had lists of people expecting to graduate - but if you had a red dot by your name they put a hold! I owed money for a broken beaker in Chemistry lab, fish year.
Love to see y’all back!
Love seeing whistle jock still exists!

Wildcat !!! It is inspiring to see the fish getting with the program. After the year ends, they will be immensely gratified for doing it.

What in the absolute fuck is this?

I’m entering the Corps in August and these Videos are awesome. Right now I’m working on my physical and mental toughness preparing myself for life as a Fish. I know it won’t be easy and I know that I’ll be smoked by an Upperclassman it’s all part of the learning curve. I just graduated from Military School so I know what I have to do. Upperclassman are going to mess with your head so you have to be mentally tough so you can keep your bearings. I’m from Massachusetts and I’m very grateful for the opportunity . Gig Em.
I’m attending A&M in August and I really wanted to join Squadron 18 but I’m an incoming Fish who is joining the Band. I’ll be in B Company.

God I miss you kids.
When are you going to come back and visit us?
@@fightinfrogplatoon I'm a terrible dead-zip for not coming back yet. Been working most weekends. I hope to be back soon!
I start at A&M this Summer your Videos is one of the main reasons why this Kid from Massachusetts is going to A&M and joining the Red Ass FTAB..Fish Year won’t be easy but anything worth achieving shouldn’t be easy. I graduate from Fork Union Military next week so I’m prepared. I need to make myself physically and mentally tougher. It’s my intention to bond with my fellow Fish and use my past experiences to help Me and My fellow Fish to get through the rigors and demands that will be placed on Us.
@@johnfilippone7410 love to hear it! I’m sure you’ll do great. Work hard and stay focused and it will all pay off. Congratulations!
@@AshSeawolf Thank You. I got through Fork Union by being positive; focused and disciplined.I plan to make my fellow Fish know is when they are ridding you hard and they are all over you that’s really a good thing. It means they are pushing you to get the most out of you. Keep your mouth shut and do what your told. First you need to learn how to follow before you can lead. I’m so grateful for the opportunity that A&M offers and I plan to take full advantage of it.
