Fly Fishing the Crooked River // Central Oregon // BIG rainbow trout caught!
Today I spent the morning fly fishing the Crooked River here in Central Oregon. The Crooked River is a gorgeous 125 mile tributary of the Deschutes River that flows through beautiful canyons with some of the best fly fishing that Oregon has to offer. Plenty of bank access, but I suggest some waders to reach the deeper pools that hold bigger fish.
The day started out slow but after an hour or two I was able to hook into the biggest native rainbow that I've caught out of the Crooked River to date! This was a fun video to make and I didn't even get to scratch the surface on just how fun, and beautiful the Crooked River truly is, check it out for yourself if you are ever in Central Oregon!
Thanks for watching!

Rocky Point MTB // Portland, OR
มุมมอง 2.1K3 ปีที่แล้ว
In today's video my buddy Blake and I decided to hit some local trails up at Rocky Point. Riding was not easy that day as the temperature reached a high of 95 degrees while we were out there, but we toughed it out because we were eager to explore the new black diamond downhill trail "Bob's Yer Uncle". The trails featured in this video in order are "Daddies Rusty Fiat", "Simba's Jump Line", "Swi...
Post Canyon MTB // Hood River, Oregon
มุมมอง 3.4K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Today my buddy Blake and I are taking our hardtails to the Post Canyon mountain bike trail system in Hood River, Oregon. If you are in the Portland area, these trails can be found by heading East bound for about an hour on I-84 towards Hood River. It’s a decent drive but it runs along the Columbia River where you can see stunning views of the water and even get a glimpse of Multnomah Falls. Pos...
Gateway Green Bike Park MTB
มุมมอง 2.1K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Today a couple buddies and I decided to check out the newly renovated Gateway Green Bike Park here in Portland, Oregon. The park was loaded with jumps, drops, and everything in between to practice and progress your riding skills for when you get out and hit the trails. I had a great time riding this park and cant wait to come back to keep practicing and dialing in those bigger jump lines! If yo...

Greenhorn is a Blue diamond mtb trail at L.L Stub Stewart State Park in Buxton, OR. The trail features drops, berms, gaps, and tabletop jumps. It is a fun, flowly, intermediate trail in a beautiful forest setting.
I’m SUPER single track chicken. I can climb 20% gradient stuff and just want a nice ride without jumps or super narrow technical stuff. Can I find a ride like that at Rocky Point?
Nice video
@@oldsmugglerflyfishing appreciate it, thanks for watching!
What stretch along the crooked river do y’all recommend I’ve never fished this area before and am pretty new to fly fishing
@@Mr.Sanchez-t7y any where near Bowman dam where it feeds into the crooked is money. Pull into any of the campsites and there's plenty of easy river access and a lot of good fishin!
Nice fighting tanker!! Around Bend out!
Hi there, can I use an excerpt from this video for my upcoming group bike ride video?
Sure!
@@Jacob_Zartman Thanks!
My home river. Great pocket water abd kits of eager fish!
Not being from Central Oregon, how do you get down to the river. All I have ever seen is bridge and wayside on highway 97. Nice fish. What weight of rod were you using?
The crooked river is huge, so the stretch of it you've seen on 97 is just a small portion. Most of the best fishing is done near the Prineville reservoir about 30-40 east of Bend with plenty of easy river access! I was using a echo carbon xl 9ft 5wt rod. Thanks for watching, and great questions!
Nice fish dude. I caught my first few fish on a fly rod on that exact stretch!
Hell yeah man thats awesome! Thanks for checking out the video, the weather is warming up so I'll be out making more content and showcasing all the beautiful stretches of water Cental Oregon has to offer very soon!
Fished above that today for the first time. We caught a few each. We'll definitely be back.
Having helped build some of the features on Drip Torch, it is great to see the videos showcasing our work. Good job!
Appreciate the work you guys put in, super fun track! I moved away about a year ago but anytime I'm in the area I always take the bike out there for some fun laps!
love the crooked, where on the crooked is this?
Thanks for the comment! This stretch of the crooked is between post pile and poison butte campgrounds.
Great job, love central Oregon. Fish on
How do you think a slacked out hardtail would do on this trail?
I think it would handle it well. This trail is not very “downhill” but it’s not flat, and the slacked out hard tail would handle well carrying speed through the big berms!
Great riding guys 🤙🏾 sick trails 💪🏾💯
Cheers! 🍻
Dope video! 🔥🤘🏼
Much love brother, appreciate it!!
10/10 trail. 11/10 video
12/10 friend 🥲
That a Juventus jersey you wearing? On Oregon too will have to check those trails out!
Yessir! Good eye 👀😂
hard tail! respect 🫡
Appreciate that! Rocking a full squish now and I can’t believe the trails I used to rip on a hard tail 😂 more videos coming soon (this week 👀), stick around!
badass! im waiting to get my trailforks update so I can start riding this network. hopefully a lot of it is still open. thanks for the great vids!
Sick. Love the Berm Peak sticker!!!
Thank you! 🤙
Also If you replace that front fork that bike would have no problem tackling any trail at Rocky Point. 🤘
Never mind, I see you bought a Yeti!!!!!
@@Rolling2Quarters yeah I made a pretty sweet upgrade to the yeti! Got in a bad wreck back in October and I’m finally getting some confidence back. I’ve recently moved to Bend, OR so expect some kickass videos from the holy grail of mountain biking in Oregon!
@@Jacob_Zartman Damn. Definitely some sicks spot down in Bend.
Btw Jacob , thanks for the video. Hope to shred some of these trails with you some day!
Of course man, hope to see you out there one day! Was just out there today and the dirt was perfect, you gotta check out the new trail “twisted sister” it’s rad!
@@Jacob_Zartman Hey Jacob , finally made the plunge into the full suspension mountain bike thing. Picked up an older Ibis Mojo that has never seen offroad , and is basically new. Looked at lots of bikes! Picking up some new high top shoes / boots and knee pads here real soon. For Rocky point , or any other open riding area like that , do I need a pass , or sticker or anything like that , like what offroad MX guys have to get?
@@jeffro5032 rocky pt requires an NWTA (northwest trail alliance) membership you can find online and pick up your tag at a bike shop in Portland!
@@Jacob_Zartman Ahhh! Ok I thought so. Thanks Jacob. I will pick one up as soon as I can.
I literally live 5mins from here! I really have to get up there and explore these trails. Been doing MX most my life , just getting my feet wet in the mtn bike stuff.
Right back on the horse. Love it! Need to make it out there real soon. Thanks for the ride along.
My pleasure! Glad you enjoyed. Definitely the best trail system within an hour of the Portland area, can’t recommend enough!
Looks like Portland has some great runs. Great footage. Keep it up!!!
appreciate it! cant wait to film some more when the weather gets better!
Cool channel, keep up the good work! I recommend Promosm to grow your channel and get more social proof.
Nice riding, keep on Bikin..
Thank you, I appreciate that! And that’s the plan 🤘
Nice wipe out at Linda’s!
Haha thanks man! One of many in the name of progression! 🤙
I’m not that good yet…I only made it half way through Linda’s and then bailed over to Rebar. Haha.
Nice vid dude..great riding🤙
Appreciate the love man! Thanks for checking out my video 🤙
Hitting up Stub in 8 hours... wanna join? ;)
🔥🔥🔥 video! Keep it up 👍🏼
My man! Appreciate you ❤️
Sick bike!
Can’t wait to ride with you in Utah one of these days!
I always get to much speed and out of control on the first two jumps going around that first corner is so tough without breaking. That was great advice when you told you to suck them up!
Absolutely! Ever since he let me know about that I’ve had a lot more success maintaining speed to clear the rest of the line!
Just went recently. Great experience. I’ll be back soon. 👍👍
Nice! Hopefully I’ll see you out there one of these days 🤙
My back yard .. HRATS have made magic outa mountain side this spring giving Bad Motor Scooter and Middle Grand Prix a tremendous facelift. Where BMS starts is extended Play - 2 existing(non novice) jump runs parallel to one another - is now joined by a new jump trail just uphill and also parallel to the existing but with no gap jumps and with ride by path. start with one or more of these three and progress to 5 more in line with Drop Out along the way. Love your videos! Makes me want to mountain bike!
You good?
We good
What time of day did you go? Both times I've been there it's been overwhelmed by kids ripping on everything. It didn't look like there was anyone else there in your video.
We went at 9am on a Monday in this video and there was just a handful of people. I went the following Sunday as well at 9am and it was more crowded but still manageable. I'd say go earlier on a weekday if you can!
Best video on TH-cam I have ever seen since Back to Back Tactical.
Now THAT is a compliment. You rode great, I hope these trails beat the Columbia city trail 😂
Yo this sweet
Transitions on point!!😤
