Paul was an amazing man. For perspective, a day in our life consists of caring for a multitude of wonderful people who are generally at the end of their life journey. We see a broad scope of stories; personalities and people. We are blessed to do what we do, although it can be difficult. However, there is - every once in a blue moon- a person who inspires us to keep going. For us, that person was often your father. Paul carried himself with a quiet strength and dignity until his very last breath. To watch him adore and care so tenderly for your mother was beyond endearing. He exuded a stoic presence, he would NEVER complain, he would communicate his problems of course- but never with a whining self-pity. Paul would matter-of-factly state how he was when questioned, often minimizing and shruging off his pain and discomfort. Paul found purpose in the care of your mother and he was a shining example of living a life of strength and dignity. As we are sorry for your loss, please know that your father will never be forgotten by us. We see hundreds of patients and love each one- yet I can easily say Paul was special and stood out. God bless you, and your family. I have no doubt that Paul is waiting to welcome us home one day, and I thank God for the opportunity to have known him, truly. The inspiration he was- and IS- will live in our hearts always. All of our love, Nicole and Dr. Joris Claessens
