It's called Makar's mash in reference to Makar's court behind it, the national literary monument, which in turn was placed there as that's where the Writers' Museum is. Makar is a scots word for poet or writer and the Scottish equivalent of Poet Laureate is the Makar of Scotland. Currently Kathleen Jamie. Can you tell I used to work in the Writers' Museum?

The cups are glasses - just thought I would mention it, to be used with your morning ablutions. Complimentary drinks, like the Champagne or the minibar regular refill, are usually only part of the all-inclusive option, but you should confirm what you have paid for, and what are extras with your travel company, or at the hotel reception. A little bit disappointed that the shower-head is hand-held, but in my experience of Iberostar Hotels, the soaps, shower gels, shampoos provided - whilst not strongly scented, are pretty good quality products, and perfectly adequate for your daily use.
