the 39 thou in the box is 39 thousandths of an inch so if you put in 1000 it should be an inch.

The two end flanges should be 30mm not 50mm.

Halo @mechnexus, i have a question how you activate fasteners to the workbench? is it must have some tools add ons? and where i can find the 'generate bom' tools(?) i mean in my freecad i haven't seen like that one, great videos btw! i really expect for a reply from you🙏

I don't think applying one texture globally to everything really counts as "mapping" but I'm not sure... I wish there was a way to setup UVs and apply one or more textures / kinds of textures to various surfaces...

For other users quick reference here are the steps you went through: Select “Part” Workbench import STL file highlight STL (Mesh) on toolbar select “part>create shape” (density 0.01) delete mesh - to avoid confusion highlight shape on toolbar select “part>convert to solid” delete shape - to avoid confusion highlight solid on toolbar select “part>refine shape” (to reduce number of defining lines) Select “Part Design Workbench” highlight solid create body (base feature will be created) edit base feature as required save model export modified STL

You've made an error when adding the bends. Your 2D drawing clearly shows an overall length of 120mm, measured from the outsides of the flanges. You've drawn a rectangle with length 120mm and when you then added a bend, you've left the Bend Type parameter as "Material outside." This will add to the 120mm length. If you measure the part you designed, you'll see the length is actually 144mm: 120 + 2*6 (material thickness) + 2*6 (radius value). When you created the two bends, you should have changed the parameter Bend Type to "Material inside" and that would have maintained the overall outside length at 120mm.

One thing I recon was, I have to mark both in FreeCAD 0.21 (CCX_Results AND CCX_Results_Mesh) as well as selcting in the exportmenü FEM mesh formats (*.dat, *.inp,*.med,*.stl,*.unv,*.vtk,*.vtu,*.z88) in order to open it correctly in paraview. Otherwise the header of the file is not correct and paraview doesn't reconice the right reader! Thanks anyways for the nice video you made

Amar, Thanks, excellent tutorial. I downloaded the files for the example and started to work through it and found that the LCS for the holes was already set in each of the components. Initially confused me. It wasn't until adding the fasteners that I had to add a hole axis.

How can you align the section views?

FYI there is a typo on the title card. I think pat should be part.

In the next release (currently available as a 0.22 dev version) it will be possible to reset preferences on 3 levels - globally, only in the current group and only in the current tab. This is nice if you want to reset only the selected settings, not all of them.
