    Just bought one and best easiest way I found to clean it is exactly how you are, I read so many complaints about how involved it is to clean but follow this and it’s clean in no time! I see a bunch of videos that run water through gun before cleaning this way that i tried but it does not help and still need to do this afterwards. This should be in Home right instructions

    Update: so I sprayed the Minwax Matte straight up (no thinning) after stirring it for about 2-3 minutes with a paint stick. I used a cheap HVLP gun @ 30 psi with about a 3.5" fan pattern and a 1.4 mm nozzle. Atomization dial was about 1/4 turn off of full with flow dial 1.5 turns from closed, and it turned out beautifully! It was totally matte as it should have been (I'd been reading from others that their mattes and satins were all turning out like semi-gloss). Hopefully this helps others.

    No kidding! I even found some guys who had pro-tips on getting the manufacturer's instructions to work out, and I did exactly as they described -- wet brush, light coats, one or two strokes, don't linger, and move on -- still looks like crap! And that's what brought me here. My gut was telling me just to spray it. Everything can be sprayed with the right adjustments. I was kind of hoping you had a recipe. 😆 It seems fairly thin as is. Maybe I'll just test it straight up, no thinning but with a 1.3 mm nozzle in an LVLP @ ~30 psi. Hopefully I can remember to stop back and update after I see how it goes. Hello, from Alaska! I have been stressing over this! I am toooo scared to apply this with a foam brush because it is tricky to get it right with this product! I do not want any streaks at all on this amazing project that is ready for a sealant. I have a spray gun I just purchased and I thought it would not work because it is Polycrylic and would ruin it and not clean-up right. YAY! I was wrong! You said it cleans up nice w/ warm water and soap. Thanks!

    • @garrettguitar
      @garrettguitar 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Manufacturer even says not to use a foam brush.

  • @KL-ov2es
    @KL-ov2es ปีที่แล้ว

    Do NOT spray polycrylic. Polycrylic is water based but has oil elements. if you do spray it, clean your sprayer THOROUGHLY with mineral spirits/paint thinner AND soap and water, separately. Even tiny traces of running this through your sprayer with only soap and water cleanup will make your sprayer's new home be the garbage bin.

    • @JohnConnors-te7hi
      @JohnConnors-te7hi 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, don't thin it. No need to clean the sprayer between coats. Take a wet rag and clean off the tip/opening when complete then use a rubber band to keep a wet rag on the tip, so it doesn't dry up. After I am done, clean the sprayer parts with warm soap and water. Really user friendly

    • @garrettguitar
      @garrettguitar 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JohnConnors-te7hi I was just here basically looking for a recipe. I'm probably going to use an LVLP -- maybe one of the HVLP's -- not sure yet. Typically I'd use a 0.8 nozzle on a clear coat, but for this I'm thinking a little bigger like 1.3mm since it's straight up. What did you use?
