Rebuilt vintage chainsaws and random videos. That's a Pioneer/Partner P500 in my profile picture, and a Husqvarna 61 converted to a 272 in the header picture.
Will it run for one more winter?
Installing Tech Motion Control rear shocks and AMT power cushion buffers on my 2009 Mitsubishi Outlander 3.0 V6 4WD XLS model with sun and fun package. I got 248000 km on it now. It had 104000 km when I got it. The buffers gave 3/4 " of lift .

Kayak Skeg fix and test paddle

Quick look at my Paluski Spirit Kayak skeg fix . I eliminated the plastic straps and 1/4" bolts that allowed the skeg to fishtail and attached the skeg directly with a 3/8" bolt spacer sleeve and washers. Huge improvement to the tracking of the boat now. Test paddle was at Earl Rowe provincial park near Alliston Ontario . The small lake is part of the Boyne river. ( A tributary of the Nottawasa...

What does that have to do with it being a Nissan?
Were those rounds frozen together? Also is wood easier to split frozen, dry or moist
They were frozen, which usually makes it easier to split, as long as it's not too wet .
WOW! I had no idea frogs were a part of a Nissan's suspention! Would a domestic replacment be ok or will it need to be an import specimin to maintain the correct ride?

Nice work ! I just picked up a box lot of 4 pioneer partner 500's with extra box of cylinders, including a closed port mahle for 490/5000. I may ask you a question or two as I start to troubleshoot them. Supposedly the keys went on 1 or 2 of them so I will look into that first. I already have a great running 490.
I can tell you that husqvarna 61 crank bearings and seals fit them. And also the top end from like a Husqvarna 50 is interchangeable, I believe. I sold my 2 Pioneer/Partner 500's. But still have a black Partner p500 . That one has a Husqvana 55 cylinder on it, which required some case mods to make it fit.
@@vintagesawyer6246 thanks for the reply! I got 2 of the 3 500's going. The fourth is a completely taken apart saw so I count it as a parts saw. I need a new ring for the third, but, as I have a spare 5000+ cylinder, I'll buy a meteor 246 piston and swap into that chassis. Meteor seems to have decent stuff? Great saws the 500/5000s! I put a 20" on one of them, the rest ( including jred 490 ) have 16". I also use a p70 and I'm trying to sort out the oiling and starting issues on the r420 I also got in the lot. The 420 is monstrous hehe.
was your porting on the 500s mostly intake and exhaust, or did you also open the transfers?@@vintagesawyer6246

Ya probably , but I only made 1 cut because it wasn't oiling .

This stump was from the "Ash almost broke my camera" tree. Another Asian Ash borer casualty . Great firewood though.

Yes, and black flies , deer flies , poisen oak, poisen Ivy etcetera Hence the long sleeves and lots of bug spray. And its super humid this week as well.

Are those green wedges the Timber Tuff brand? What is your luck with them, I have had two of them just snap on me.
Ya they are . Pretty crappy. I havn't broken one...yet. Need some better ones though.
@@vintagesawyer6246 Oregon makes good wedges in my experience, I tried to save some money with the green ones but they don't hold up.

@@oldmanfred8676 I do have a pair of those but I never use them. Where I live we really don't have trees more than three foot on the stump, I get by just fine with eight inch Oregon wedges.

Update - The 61 ran good but I didn't use it much because for the weight , it had less power than my 372 kit saw so any way its now been converted to a 272cc closed port cylinder. Which I am calling a 266xp because its period correct and I already had the sticker. I didn't get an actual 266 (50mm) jug because all the kits I saw came with non windowed pistons.

Ya we were getting gusts up to 90 kilometers per hour they said so approx 55mph. Surprisingly no damage here though. Even my "portable garage tent" is still there. Tarps a bit tattered though. I have a new tarp, which is probably about the 15th one. And who knows how many hundreds of bungee cords I have gone through.

Thanks ! It died last time I used it so that was with a new coil wire installed. The almost 40 year old original was a bit crispy ( age hardened ) .

This was with 44.7mm aftermarket jug and I was not real impressed with the saw , I have since converted it back to 44mm original Mahle cylinder and its actually my favorite 50 cc class saw now . 👍
