Fishing up the food chain

My wife and I take to lake Dardanelle to jug fish for catfish. But shad didn't want to cooperate so we hit the banks with jigs catching some bream to bait our hooks. This ended up getting some of our largest cats of the year so far.

Nice just bought the same one from Walmart. Did your's come with a paddle?
@@DMac5785 no sure didnt
I was sitting back what do i need to spend money on and what i dont. Basically hunters wore a flannel shirt and jeans today its this that andthat. Im going to try to keep it K.I.S.S when i can
Don't do this. This is dangerous for the same reason you don't wear metal wedding rings or watches while working with tools. You could get electrocuted or the glove could get caught in machinery. Maybe it would be safer with non-conducting materials, but I still wouldn't wear those. Buy the gloves that have a loop built in. They are designed to rip off before your hand gets ripped off.
Nonsense.
I understand where your coming from but this hack is just meant to be able to keep up with your gloves. If the grommet gets you electrocuted and you were wearing leather gloves it was gonna happen regardless, rubber gloves are used when dealing with electricity. If your glove gets caught in machinery the grommet wasn’t the issue. On top of all that this was meant for gloves used in a farming or camping type situation. The grommets is not going to be an issue when mending fence, digging post holes, running chainsaws, collecting fire wood or for picking up lids and pots off an open fire.
Ive got a grommet set, lots of bronze grommets. I was thinking, "the perfect solution to storing all my welding gloves!" Then the realization set in. I think i need bone grommets...
Just buy the gloves that have loops built in. Much safer. Anyway, I've never heard of a bone grommet. I'm assuming it is a non-conductive and non-flammable material and that is why you suggested it.
@@CognitiveHeatsinkit's bone. If you set that on fire, you likely have bigger problems
@@CognitiveHeatsink precisely! The loops that come on the welding gloves I get are one of the most annoying things I've dealt with in a shop. But I can sew some on that don't suck. That's a very good idea lol ig the fumes are getting to me
Nice idea. Why not put the hole on the back of the glove though? The front of the glove is usually doing to be facing the action, so it might be better to put the hole on the back side
It really wouldn’t matter. What I’ve noticed is that the bottom inside corner of the glove rarely makes contact with my wrist that’s why I put it there.
That’s a great idea!
Great hack man 🤙
Nice idea!! Now I know where to borrow a grommet kit🤣🤣😉😉
Those brass ones like to grab beard hair too🤣🤣🤣 good video brother!
Yea I forgot to mention that part but it’s probably the most important reason I use a tied on nock point. Thanks
Im a veteran and seeing families and especially kids fishing makes the reason i served worth every min
Man that turned out great!!
Great video! Thanks for sharing! Just curious, what mount for the camera / phone are you using?
I typically use a GoPro sportsman mount and clamp it to my rod holder on the kayak
Just curious what difference is you can tell since you changed the seat height? Trying to figure out if I want to do this or plug those two holes temporarily for springtime creek. Not really like in the thought of plugging the holes and getting a bunch of water but that water sure does hit your butt with a low seat
@@417Keto I havnt had a chance to take it out again hopefully soon.
So cool! Getting one for next summer
Hello, where did you buy the plastic sticks to support the maya?

Awesome video and story!! Keep em coming fellas!!
Cool tip!! I may build one of those for a panfish box to hold rock hoppers and smaller baits that always seem to get misplaced.
I already have all the parts and was thinking of something similar, but this idea is the set up I'll be using. Thanks man! Oh and at today's prices its right around $25 total (incl tax) in my area.
How did this work for you buddy😊
They work great we use them a lot for dove season now. Work great for deer and duck as well.
@@redclayadventures awesome thanks
What time of the year is the best? We just got back from long pool. The water was calm
Spring time is best for faster flowing water like in the video. I think the video was in may.
Amazing!
it seems what's behind you is almost as important as what's in front when setting up a blind... set them up so, not only can you see in front, you don't have to worry about being seen from behind...
I saw these stakes in the Tractor Supply store and came up with the same idea. I built 2 all ready with army surplus forest green leafy camo net I had laying around. I want to build a couple with burlap like yours next. They are nice and light and are great for running and gunning or just set them up on your property and hunt the wind.
I just got the exact same kayak not one of the newer ones the same model and year you have how did you like it overall?
I liked it a lot I decided I wanted something different. So I’ve since switched to a sit on top and my wife took that one but she loves it
@@redclayadventures happy to hear it. Thanks for gettin back to me dude.
great vid. just what i was looking for.
