MJ with The Cadillac Three (Neil Mason) | Hillbilly | This Town Is A Ghost | April 2023
It was a real treat for me to speak with @thecadillacthree's Neil Mason (drums, vocals) while he was on the road in between meetings. TC3 has a lot going on, including a tour, new music, and a recently announced joint venture with Warner Records, War Buddha Records.
Before speaking about the new label that he and frontman, Jaren Johnston, are excited to launch, Neil and I went back to the beginning to talk about what the group of three were listening to while growing up in Nashville. Fast forward to now, TC3 has become a band that combines many influences leading to a sound and style unique to them and what I and other fans refer to as "Country Fuzz." Neil and I also talk about that incredible album released in 2020, as well as "Tabasco & Sweet Tea," released that same year.
Finally, Neil shared how their single, "Hillbilly," with Elvie Shane and Ketch Secor, came together and how it kicked off a new project that Neil says reflects the life changes and growth of all three members throughout their decades-long career and friendship, but especially in the last few years.
