The more we have, the more we falsely think we lack.
From Anger to Peace: A Simple Trick to a Calmer Life
Last morning, my cup broke, and it was a mess. It was one of my favorite cups, and its contents spilled all over the floor. This wasn't an accident; it was a lapse in attention. Usually, I would get very frustrated and angry about this kind of incident. I'm highly sensitive, and anything that goes against my expectations can put me in a spiral of anger.
But this time, I don't know why, when I saw the cup on the floor, I just said, "Oh." Not "Oh shit!" or "What a mess!" Just a simple, almost apathetic "Oh." I am at a yoga retreat, and the group is chanting "Om." Not the same as the Oh but similar. This simple sound liberated me from the chaos on the ground and my broken cup. It gave me a pause between the stimulus and my reaction. I felt calm and relieved because I could choose my response, not just react. In this lies freedom - the freedom to choose how you respond.
This is, of course, a well-known concept in Stoic and various Eastern philosophies. I don't know why or how it happened, but this moment gave me clarity. It was about shutting down my expectations and getting back to my intentions. My intentions are always the same, at least good or positive ones. Positive intentions aren't a lack of purpose or objectives, but rather what you can really do to achieve them - what's in your power to control.
In this case, my expectation for my cup of tea was to have a perfect breakfast, a perfect Instagram-worthy scene without any accidents or incidents. But reality knocked on my door and said hello. There, I had to shut down my expectations and get back to my intentions. The "Oh" gave me the opportunity to see things as they really were and return to my intention, then act on it. The action follows intrinsically from the intention.
I believe my intention, like that of most human beings, is to be at peace, to be calm, to be healthy, and to have a goal or motivation to wake up in the morning. So here, my intention was to be at peace. I got down on the ground to pick up the broken pieces of the cup with serenity. Whatever happens, I will conduct a new action, which is to make another cup of tea without any interference, because my intentions were clear.
You can assess positive intentions by the positive mood effect they give you, but also by their ripple effect on others - your family, friends, and even people you don't know yet. This is where positive intentions aren't just selfish pleasure. Of course, they first bring you happiness or calm, but then they ripple out to others, and this is what makes them truly good intentions.
A sentence came to my mind after this experience: "Since I no longer expect anything, I'm astonished by everything." I hope that the next time you encounter frustration or obstacles in life, you can just say "Oh" like an observer for a few seconds or minutes. Take the time to pause and say, "Oh, what's happening here? What a curious situation." Then ask yourself, "What is my intention, and what can I do to get back to my intention of being calm or serene?" Everything follows from there, of course, and it gives you back your energy to be animated, to have a breath of soul that impels you to keep going.
Have a beautiful day!

You're Overthinking and Overcomplicating Life
มุมมอง 1.4K7 หลายเดือนก่อน
As a child, life flowed naturally without questions. But as I gained knowledge, I slowly lost touch with the simple truths I once embodied - overthinking and overcomplicating life. What I just accepted joyfully became overanalyzed through facts. When I was a young child The world made so much sense Everything felt natural No questions, no pretense But as I grew older And learned more day by day...

Extreme Minimalist apartment tour. No furniture. No decor. Only essentials. Empty rooms. Sparse living. Intentional simplicity. Freeing experience. Peaceful lifestyle.
All my house furniture was bought by my mother. The stuff she liked. She lived with me untill passing 2 years ago. Not ready to throw alot of her stuff away. I go out alot. I dont feel cluttered at all. I dont see it a problem as yet, buy thanks for the future expectation. Cheers Mate. 👍
You paid $20 for this? I guess haircut money goes a long way.
Love minimalist
Do you mind saying what country you live in?
Wow
Nice
"no clutter no mess just wide open space" so CLEAN IT. Mess, dust and dirt... adult man...
Just one question, why have such a large apartment if you are extreme minimalist? Just seems like you could probably be quite happy in something quite small, or is that you like having the space without needing to fill it?
Your message really resonates with me. We are all animals we just think we can control everything. That spoke to me. Thank you for this video.
So you checked luggage???
Sleep naked? 🥶
i love this idea. How about change of clothes? There is a guy about whom I read some time back. He travels without luggage. He wears wool underwear which stays fresh longer and dries quicker overnight.
This is my kind of minimalism. Totally resonate with your 'why' p.s. But are you paying for the huge space without needed it all? p.p.s. eating food with hands has a lot of scientific explanation behind it - we connect to food and it is digested better (Sadhguru spoke about this). I eat with hands on the floow, Indian style, or I use chopsticks (which are also good for cooking).
I'm so happy you posted again I was checking for weeks to see if you posted anything. thank you for your creative work!!
Thank you so much for your kind words, I really appreciate it, I did not expected it. Since I no longer expect anything, I marvel at everything. 🙏
This lifestyle is definitely achievable when everything you enjoy happens on a screen.
A small nylon tote can do all of this, last longer, and pack up smaller in your pocket when not in use. It would also be more useful when buying groceries at your destination.
I love minimalism but then I remember the phrase of f globalists that “you will own nothing and will be happy”…😢 So it’s better rational consumption and frugal living.
I would be curious to know what your true passion is? I know it’s a very very personal question so I’m sorry if it’s inappropriate I resonated deeply with this video. Thank you for making it
Love this so much!! Than u
Your videos are amazing, thank you for making them!
Use dumbify instead- one time payment
I feel so calm
Sick….-
My phone has a black background and the icons I use on the first page. The second page has a file with all the items inside it. Neat clean and golly, so cheerufl! Clean quick and easy to use! I must do a video on it sometimes! Ta for the idea! ^_^
What an AMAZING donkey! That looks tough but fun to do! As to doing something meaningful? Meh, I just exist, the rest takes care of itself! ^_^
I do disagree with what you say though, in a bit, we do need to look after ourselves, we really do, but often, by helping others, we get such enjoyment out of it, such contentment, that we suddenly find that our own lives are almost fixing themselves! It's the most amazing thing! Just volunteering and doing good, I mean if you feel good and do good, awesome! If you feel bad and do good, there's still good! So work on you, please do, but know that helping others is often the best therapy, even if your heart is not 100% in it! Keep doing it and it will be! ^_^
Men will happily do something like this instead of go....rapy for their depression or whatever
Wow so yes to this! Nice to see someone else without a fridge! ^_^ Well for a time!
I enjoy a more poetic script, but I really enjoyed the sentiment and visuals. Probably just my female bias to not enjoy the scolding tone of voice 😅
No, not for me, it doesn’t feel like a home. I think our homes should represent our lives and passions. This seems inhuman to me. It could be ideal for a zen Buddhist, but I want my home to feel homely. If extreme minimalism is your thing, great, go for it.
Exactly! 3:25 That’s what Islam is teaching us ! Inner peace found through Allah! What country is that brother ?
no clothes ? really ?
not true extreme minimalist. you should to take a rag and wash the floor with your hands instead of the morning exercise. don't used your vacuum cleaner
I believe that a living plant would be essential in that place. It, giving oxygen and visual pleasure, and you giving care and attention .
When my friend say i am broke, i can say i am a minimalist
I FREAKING LOVE IT, MAN! I am currently in the process of becoming an extreme minimalist by decluttering/purging 99% of all of the items that I own.
loved your video. would love to live this free one day. but am an emotional person and attach too much emotional significance to stuff. your video is an inspiration.
If you have clothes and toiletries at your destination, then it is really NOT a "Minimalist Travel Packing" video. Please do another video including the clothes and toiletries.
Pero el huevas pasa todo el día limpiando la tremenda casa que tiene , si fuera minimalista viviría en una caja
Your house is huge like there are so many rooms. If i were you, I would love to live in a studio apartment. Too many which you don't need.. a big kitchen which you don't need...a big walk in closet which you don't need. Declutter the extra spaces also.
what is the piano song? :)
I find your voice calming. Love the insight. Thank you for sharing.
How does this work with your child? Kids need tables, beds, a refrigerator and toys, etc. Don’t you think? Does your wife also embrace extreme minimalism? This video is very interesting for an adult living alone type of life. But I would to see how an extreme minimalist approaches family life with a child.
Would you be interested in "lucid dreaming". Try. Is fun.
Zero clutter. Good life.
Hello, everything is explained well. I would appreciate it if you didn't wash the cloth you wiped the floor with in the kitchen sink. Floor cloth should not be in the kitchen.
Thanks for the tips!

I agree with everything you said
The floor needs damp mop. It’s dusty.
