The beauty of life is in the little things, not in the big ones. Being able to drink when I'm thirsty, watching a bird fly in front of my eyes, smelling grass freshly cut, going to bed in a nice and cozy cocoon, that's how I celebrate life, feeling joy in all these little moments. I hope you'll have time to keep on making videos, I really missed them.

I’m stressed and in a weekly cycle that feels like I don’t have much say over. I am a Sabbath keeper and have been for 20+ years now as an SDA. My problem now is that my week is so tiring that at times, I just wish I could sleep in that day. And I love the sabbath which includes church and relaxing at home or going to the park. I work in a little school (where my youngest daughter is), but was a SAHM for many many years. With working, I cannot get my home in order. I’m too tired when I get home to do much. And it bothers me. I keep trying to figure out ways to have less and organize but never have enough time/energy to pull it off. Now I’m counting the days til summer break so I can rest and be productive at home - which I love doing. Thank you for the video. I’m trying to rest more even though it’s not all getting done.

    • @jylisa
      @jylisa 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

I can really resonate with you. Right now a key part of our sabbath is napping 💤The thing about when you're stressed is you get tunnel visioned and you don't have creative energy. Hopefully summer break will give you some space to be able to get some creative energy back.🌅🤗

One of the best things I added into my weekly routine was making homemade bread (usually 2 loaves twice a week). ❤ Especially if you have a bread machine, it's dump & go - and couldn't be easier! My go-to bun recipe is a bit different from my regular bread recipe, but it's one I get asked about every time I bring buns somewhere. If you're interested in giving it a try, it's the "Best Bread Machine Dinner Rolls" recipe by Happy Hooligans. You won't regret it. PS. Your loaf looks gorgeous!

This is beautiful! I love the candle idea - it's such an easy way to create memories that will last a lifetime, with just a little scent. I've missed your videos so much. You always have such good insight to share. Congratulations on your new baby! God is good! One thing I've started doing when I'm feeling overwhelmed and need to find myself again is praying... and specifically praying for peace and calmness in the midst of everything going on in life with young kids. I ask for His hand on my shoulder as I navigate through the day. I almost instantly feel better and can move forward again after a few deep breaths and His presence. ❤

It's worth wearing them even if it's just around the house to see what it is that you don't like about them or why they're not working for you. It may be that you don't like the way they look on you or they don't fit right ( in which case, get rid of them ) but there might be some items that you find you do like but you just don't have the right thing to wear with them.

I hear ya, Jyl, on the morning routine thing! Oh my gosh, I hear ya. It has been my goal this year as well, but I'm finding it so difficult with small children. How can you get up at 5am (despite the good intentions) when you didn't get to bed until after midnight because the kids napped at the wrong time and then didn't go down until 11pm and the homeschool plan needed to get done for the morning, the baby was up sick during the night, etc? So while in the throes of this season of life, I'm giving myself some grace. In a couple years when our youngest is a little older, it will be a major focus of mine, but for now - I do what I can. That being said, I do find that this time of year is always better for getting into a morning routine though because it's bright early and nice out, which always pulls me out of bed easier. Cheers to better mornings ahead!

My husband and I currently own a house, which is definitely working for our family right now, but it isn't exactly what we would envision as the "perfect" home. Because of that, we are planning to build a house down the road that contains what we want and need for our family of four. My husband wants everything right now (which isn't in the cards right this second), so we sat down one night a couple weeks ago and discussed it. I told him that I know we will get to that goal eventually of our "dream home", but I don't want to live my life always looking outward and forward - always dreaming about what we don't yet have. While dreams and goals for the future are great, I also want to be present, content, and happy with where I am at any given time. I think we now have a better outlook on the whole process going forward, and this video really made me feel better about my current view in life. It was so timely for me to watch this now, so ... Thank you!

    - Buying Bulk Beef Direct 101 - - Most important to know: When you buy a beef from a farmer you will be quoted and charged by the "hanging weight" of the animal. Typically you will loose 30-50% of this weight in the butchering process - so your price per pound will approximately double (called finished weight). This will very depending on the skill of the butcher - how much fat is cut off, and how long they hang the animal - which also effects tenderness and flavour. This can get very confusing - very quick. Even talking a farmer they often get the terms confused! - Stores can sell their beef at a good profit because they buy in bulk, and often cut corners on their butchering (lower pay staff & shorter hang times, etc.). When buying from a farmer roughly 1/3 to 1/2 of your cost is the butchering (As they are a more "boutique" butcher). - When you buy "sale" beef, if the prices is really good it may be "clearance" and being being sold at a loss - not to be confused with "retail price". - You will usually end up paying more than grocery store prices for hamburger and less for steaks and roasts. More than likely you will pay more than most grocery store prices overall (but the market can fluctuate, and you have "locked in" which can also lead to substantial savings). You will end-up with better quality meat. If you have any questions, I can try to answer them as we have done this a few times now.

I agree with the thought process behind this... Especially the idea of quality over quantity, and have had to learn to give myself permission to appreciate and buy items that are good quality, rather than go cheap to save a few bucks. That being said, I think the underlying assumption is that if it's at the thrift store, it's not good quality. I've been able to make many great finds at the thrift store, and what really helps is just being informed on what is good quality vs made cheap. When it comes to clothes, shoes, toys etc, I've had to learn (still learning) what is good quality and therefore will be worth more for my money. Like you said though, it takes being intentional about spending, and sometimes means waiting a little longer to find the item that is just right. Totally in the same boat when it comes to baby though. I used to feel guilty about not keeping certain items donated to me (even if I didn't like them) because I wanted to be practical and save money. So blessed to have a little more finacial wiggle room to get some things new that I really liked for baby number 3. 😏 Also stopped feeling guilty about passing on things I don't want. Lol

Totally agree Kelsey! It's about quality and intentionality. Congrats on baby #3😄

Which province are you in? Your S.S. prices are very different from from mine. I'm in Alberta.♥️🇨🇦

I'm in Alberta too. Are my prices lower or higher? I just shopped these groceries on Tuesday.

Am also curious what food items you noticed a price difference on?

@@jylisa I'd have to double check. Some were higher and some lower. I assumed you were in Ontario because I've seen S.S. charge mostly lower prices out east compared to Alberta. I've always thought this was strange. Your eggs were the same. I buy the 30 pack, too. I have a family of 5, but all adult kids in university. I buy very similar items to you. I shop the perimeter & mostly avoid U.S. processed foods. That is where most of the price increases show up, I think.

I would love to see more recipes. It's always helpful to get some new ideas. I also can't wait for your beef video. I live local to you, and we have been talking about sharing a whole cow with my brother-in-law's family, so I am excited for your input on it. Thanks for sharing, as always!

Thanks for watching Tara and for your feedback. ♥️ The beef video should come out on Tuesday. We got our beef from a local farmer--Cowlick Ranch. It's nice to have a full freezer of quality meat.

This is PERFECT. It's exactly how I try to plan my week out. I sometimes feel like I'm the only one not meal prepping or meal planning, so thank you for making me feel less lonely! Lol. The only thing I really do ahead of time is look at which days that week are my busiest to know when I need to have easier meals before we are rushing out the door for kids' hockey practice or ball games or whatever. Those days will be crockpot meals or prep-ahead meals that can be done and on the table in 20 minutes. Then on the days that are less busy, I can accommodate more time-intensive meals. The other thing I like to do is do a nice, little Google search when I've got one or two ingredients that either need to get used up or I'm in the mood for. You can just enter those ingredients and "recipe" and you have a ton of options at your fingertips. Thanks for this video!

Great tips! I could see the crockpot idea coming in handy as my kids get older. Thanks so much for sharing. Yeah, I feel like it's so much more freeing to not meal plan.

I must admit that I am still astounded every time I buy bananas. So cheap compared to other foods!

Yes, I hardly ever buy granola bars because bananas are such an easy snack and are so cheap.
