Turn the Gray Skies Blue
Barker & Broski's 2023 Christmas release is our most happy and upbeat Holiday song yet, drawing musical inspiration from early Eagles songs.
Lyrics:
Snow falls on Christmas Day
Family waiting by the tree
Snow falling, skies are gray
Celebrating eagerly
Sportsball on TV
Sleeping on the recliner
A time to believe
In something finer
Eggnog, family, roasted beast
Eggnog, family, roasted beast
Turn the gray skies blue
A new year to renew
Turn the gray skies blue
You've got a lot to do
It's cold in winter time
Time to lose the blues
Memories sublime
Put on your dancing shoes
Snow falls on Christmas Day
Family waiting by the tree
Snow falling, skies are gray
Celebrating eagerly
Eggnog, family, roasted beast
Eggnog, family, roasted beast
Turn the gray skies blue
A new year to renew
Turn the gray skies blue
You've got a lot to do
Turn the gray skies blue
A new year to renew
Turn the gray skies blue
Turn the gray skies blue
Turn the gray skies blue

If you're dreading a white Christmas, why not travel to someplace with better weather? If you don't have the time or money for that, maybe listening to this Reggae inspired Christmas song is the next best thing. In 2023 I took a proper vacation to Puerto Rico and had a fantastic time while also taking plenty of video on my phone and Sealife Micro 3.0 underwater camera. Lyrics Where we had last ...

What’s with all the commotion? One more thing, Chris. I was just on the Godin website and see they offer a replacement battery box for $9.99. I don't know if you can buy one directly from them or if you must use a retailer... but at least you know you can get one. You are welcome. 😄

08:11 "You just have to rip it (the cable) out, and hope you are not live in the P.A." ... Well, Chris, there is a solution to that. I had the same "popping problem" with my Cordoba GK Negro. I ended up buying a "silent guitar cable". I bought the "Cordial CRI 3 RP Silent Cable" (3 meters) for about $37. Several companies use the same tech. They can cost upwards of $100, so I thought this one gives good performance for a reasonable price. It's amazing in that you can just "rip out the cable" from the guitar that's plugged into a "hot" amp... with no pops or cracks, and you can plug it back in as well with no pops. Ok... in the interest of full disclosure, I will admit I will very rarely get a pop if I have accidentally touched the contact tip of the cable before plugging it into the guitar. I'm thinking doing so creates a slight charge on the cable tip, so it will pop... but usually not severely. Just don't touch the tip of the plug while it's out of the guitar, and you should be fine. You are welcome. 😇

To make chords do you always just have the root note then just skip a note to make a chord like for example if you want a g chord you would do g as your root note then skip a note so it would be b and d? So you make g b d as a g chord? Idk if my question makes snese

I agree totally, a superb guitar. However, I can only 95/100 because of poor battery connector. It is a Big con. The flimsy battery connector is so unnecessarily cheap. Removing a battery is not easy. This could have been avoided by spending a few pence (or cents) on a a substantial (readily available) 9V battery connector. Unfortunately, the new Mondial versions also use the cheap and nasty flimsy connector. Why?

I want to Guitar Center yesterday, i’m playing a bunch of guitars… But I played one of these for the longest time. I mean this one or one quite similar to this. I have to say is a little bit odd because the high Estring just seem to be a little bit too close to the edge of the fretboard. I don’t know what was going on with that. And also I find the placement of those buttons and sliders to be a crime against humanity. If I ever get one of these, I’m gonna get it in black so it all blends together.

I had a Yamaha Silent Nylon. After a year the electronics died. They sucked anyway. Lackluster tone. So using a a soldering iron, I routed the pickup direct to the outputs. I make sure I use a great quality cord. I put it directly into the Fischmman Loudbox Mini. Sounds awesome. But the Yamaha doesn't feel like a real guitar. Maybe the Godin feels a little better.

It feels and plays just like a real guitar, in my experience. It is also far from "silent." It sounds great even not amplified and is not much quieter than others I've played that have a hollow body and sound hole.

I have the nylon Multiac SA and I love it even though I haven't found many sounds that I like with my Roland synth, mostly the horn sounds. But I got it at a music store in Berlin N.H. where their assembly plant is (at least it was back then.) While I was there the Godin rep was visiting the store owner. And when I asked the owner how much the guitar was he looked at the rep and asked if he could sell it to me for $950. The rep said he didn't care as long as the Godin company got their money. So I bought it. Shortly after I got it home, about an hour and a half away, I found one of the sliders was frozen. I can't remember which one. So I called up the factory in Berlin and told them the issue. The next week I met the rep at my post office and in the parking lot he gave me a brand new one to exchange for the bad slider. He drove an hour and a half and I drove a half mile. Now that's service and I still love this guitar and it plays like a dream.

Battery not fit? The problem is the battery. Duracell 9v batteries are oversized. You just switch to another brand and they fit perfectly. I use Energizer Lithium 9v as they last many times longer than an alkaline battery. FYI you can buy a replacement battery compartment from Godin for a few dollars.

I have the Multiac grand concert SA. It is a nixed bag of what I dreamed of and what I despise. Amplifying is the main advantage. I struggle with the neck. too thin and the radius on the fingerboard makes it not a concert instrument. The body shape is odd and uncomfortable. The GR pickup with a Roland GR 20 has latency issues but using Electroharmonics Mel 9 masks this pretty well. I do a lot of prog so the Roland provides a good string pad and the Mel 9 has a nice flute and choir voice when I cover Genesis and King Crimson songs.

I’ve played mine for every solo gig for 10 years now, I’ve grooved the heck out of the frets with nylon strings, I didnt even think that was possible lol. Other than the physical wear it’s still going strong, yes, the price is a bummer. My multiac nylon with synth pickup battery lasts for 6 months minimum, but I unplug my guitar lol.

In my experience the thickness is related to tension: thick strings are high tension and thin are low. I prefer high tension. What is the benefit of thinner strings to you? Honestly curious.

It seems feasible to put a switch for the battery somewhere. You just want to make sure it is not in a location that would be easy to accidently hit while playing. You still want to ensure the battery is off when your cable is unplugged, regardless of the switch setting, but the switch should give you the option to disconnect the battery even when the cable is plugged in. If you want to get really fancy, you could add a little LED too, to give you a visual power status.
