Thank you
Am I the only one who is so upset with the looks of this pannier? It looks like a trash can, and the worst part is that they void warranty of the whole bike for installing a 3rd party pannier..
Thx for the instructions. "Young man eyes" - I feel you brother.
The R3 is such a well rounded machine and has enough juice on tap to have fun with everyday. Most 600cc/1000cc riders in India barely go past the 2nd gear here in traffic. Wheres the fun in that ?. Thanks for the no nonsense review. Cheers !
Great video, thanks Mr Rick
I just don’t know if I can do it. I like the idea but can’t get over it looking like a bin/ trash can…
That's apparently designed like an ammunition crate according to RE
@@RevsAndWheels I did buy it!
No left one
can a pillion ride along with this installed? thanks
yes they can. unless they're too big maybe?
I have owned bikes that legally I could barely use 25% of the bikes H.P.. Yes they were extremely fast but sterile. The classic 350 oozes with charm & charisma, never failing to put a smile on my face. The build quality on the J6 platform is remarkable - a credit to RE workers & management. Mine is in halcyon grey with canvas bags- toe n heel shifter & Fuel X Lite. A new sub - keep up the entertaining work !
I almost went with that color too. Very classic looking. I’ve had it about a year now and I still feel the same as when I first got it. Very comfortable bike. Enough power to get around and great looks. Good luck with yours.
Good on you mate. A great little bike with a lot of heart. I think there is something special about Royal Enfields, I have a Classic 500 UCE model, an old Bullet 500 iron barrel, and a Super Meteor 650 and I love them all 😀 Enjoy!
Thanks for the vid. It's about what I figured, but it's nice to see it first. Where are you getting your gaskets / filters??
I ordered them from EBay. It’s not bad. Just take your time.
Thanks! Just got mine today, and that rear seat has to go.
Yeah looks good without it
Another RE commercial. RE boring.
Great review man than you!
Can we put on both sides ?
I couldn’t find one for the other side. I don’t think they make it. Looks good with one though.
I think we can and the only thing is the opening would be opposite of the right side box
Brilliant. Just the video I needed to see before fitting my ammo box. Thank you.
I’m glad you found it useful. I made the video because I couldn’t find one that explained my questions about getting one. It really is very useful. Especially where I’m from. Going into work in the morning could be around 40 degrees Fahrenheit and on the way home 60 degrees. So it’s nice to be able to switch some of my riding gear.
Mr rick my meteor had graunchy sounding brakes and it got better when the brakes bedded in but when i move the bike around the yard manually the rear does catch ever so slightly and make a noise, i noticed that the brake pipe is routed in such a way that it excerts force on the caliper allmost stopping the calipers naturall tendency to self centralize on the disc, if this stress can be relieved i think it would cure my catching sound. I did intially put better sintered pads in the bike which only increased the noise and i reverted back to the originals. Mines currently being ridden daily in the uk winter and the tyres are more than capable, much more than capable to a degree were i would fit the same when the time comes.
Great comment. Yeah the brakes are something I’m going to look into in a few weeks. Right now it’s too cold for me to ride. I’m near Boston Massachusetts. So in a few weeks I’ll be going through the bike. I believe it’s the pin that the calipers ride on for both brakes. I’m going to take it apart and see what I find. If I find something I’ll put up a step by step video on how to service it. I’m getting the same thing you described on the brakes. I think the calipers don’t fully release.
Yes the porportions are from another world. Very very beautiful.
Do i have to buy separately pannier box and nods? I mean different cost?
They only make one side as far as I know. I does look good with one though.
Love the stealth finish. Agree with RE not quite being on a par with honda but comparing it to a Harley is pretty funny. I think Harleys are a bit of a joke outside of the US. Each to their own though!
Harley makes up close to 80% of the bikes on the road in USA. I’m giving my opinion being here in the USA and given the look of the bike people here would want to know how it compares. I do love the matte black on this bike. Very easy to keep clean. Thanks for watching.
@@mrrick2904I would not say that HD is 80% of bikes on the road. Maybe 40 % . There are more Japanese motorcycles on the road than HD's.
@@frankmarkovcijr5459 in my area HD is very dominant. I haven’t been around the whole country but HD is very popular in USA. I would say the Japanese bike are the next popular.
102Miles per gallon
I’m getting around 80mpg USA.
First one of your videos I have seen and I like it. It`s good to hear that you put some miles and time on it, before you made your comments. I just watched a `review` from a guy here in the UK, who had taken one out for a demo ride, from his local dealer, for 15 minutes! (no comment). I have owned mine for 14 months and done about 2,500 miles on it. I love it more than my main bike and it just makes me smile, every time I hit that start button. Just subscribed 👍
Thanks. I’m glad you liked the review. I love the bike and I didn’t want to review as soon as I got it because let’s face it when you first get something you’re excited. I waited until I had time with it to give an honest review. I’m considering changing it to belt drive. There’s a guy who’s making a kit for the Interceptor right now. I contacted him and he said he’s about to put one out for the 350. If he does I’ll be doing a video on that.
Great review. Such a dilemma for me, to keep my beautiful but somewhat impractical Harley (softail Low Rider) or trade her in for one of these Classic 350's. Watched scores of videos on these bikes and not a bad word is said about them. I need to go to the dealers and look at one. Thanks
I’m very familiar with Harley and this is a much smoother and comfortable bike. Take one for a ride and you’ll know what to do.
Firstly you don't need to take the foot peg apart to remove it from the bike. You just have to undo the 17mm nut off from the back. In order to do that you need to get bike on the centre stand sitting on a piece of 2x4 wood to get the back wheel off the floor. When you do this put a zip tie around the handlebar and brake lever to lock the front wheel. This will stop the bike rolling off the centre stand. Then undo the bottom shock mounts and let the wheel drop to the floor. This is the only way to get a socket and ratchet in behind the frame and swingarm!
Thank you very much
The stealth is good color, and yes bike this is selling like crazy eversince it was launched in 2008-9 time, last month it did 32000 units unshattered by triumph/harley/honda/Yezdi trying desperately to compete with this,
Yeah. They got something good going.
100% mate. I dropped from a 900 Kawasaki to a Red and Chrome classic. In all honesty the 350 is way more satisfying to ride. Techno bikes have left me cold as they have zero character and soul. Hate boring highway riding so lacking the ability to cruise comfortably above 60mph doesn't bother me. I changed the headlight lamp to a brighter LED only as it definitely has helped reduce the pull out car drivers . Been riding since 1969 and I agree to call these a beginners bike does them a diservice They are really great bikes end of.
Yeah. It doesn’t really matter if a bike has 100hp when you go down the road 40 mph. They really did a great job with this bike. It’s enough for any road and a very comfortable ride. The 650 Shotgun Royal Enfield is coming out with is what got me looking into them. I’m not sure I would get it now. I’m very happy with this bike. Congratulations and enjoy.
Man, that classic looks amazing in black.
I was thinking of getting the military green one but in person the black is really nice. It’s matte black so you need a special detailer for it. Keep that in mind.
Oh man, that bike looks fantastic. All the other videos are always in the bronze and chrome color way. I'm up in Michigan. We only have 4 dealers in the state. Closest dealer to me is about 120-150miles. I want one of these, but I have a feeling it's going to be difficult to get just what I want. I also never ride or even drive on the Highways. Great review. I just subscribed!
Yeah. The closest to me was about 70 miles. If you’re able to do your own maintenance it’s worth it. As the bike broke-in it’s even better. You won’t get my bike for your dollars.
I totally agree with you about the R3. It is a great bike and In my opinion very few riders are talented (skilled enough) to need a bike with more performance for ordinary street and highway riding. The R3 is much more enjoyable to ride and easier to control. I have owned and ridden bikes of numerous sizes from 100cc to 900cc and none of them were as fun to ride as the smaller bikes under 400cc's. Yamaha makes great bikes and the R3 or its sibling the MT-03 are more than adequate for 99 percent of riders. Just because you can get a bike with more power does not mean you should go rush out and purchase one.
Greetings from Devon inthe UK. I have a bike just like yours. I agree with all you say. Great for the country roads - manages even the steepest hills no problem. Everyone changes their bikes in slightly different ways so no two are exactly the same.
Yeah. It’s surprising enough power. I think it’s the torque and the rpm where the power comes in that makes it work. Glad you’re enjoying the bike.
Just bought one today. 200 km on it and the grin on my face will continue well after i will fall asleep. Very happy with the purchase!
Congratulations. I’m sure you will enjoy it. It gets better after it breaks in around 1500 miles.
Thank you! I could not find a new one in halcyon Grey anywhere in my country and I was prepared to travel to Germany to buy it but, before I embarked on a 1000 mile trip, I wanted to try the 20hp at the official importer. After I came back on the hunter, I went up to take my wife and my kid. They were siting on a halcyon Grey classic 350 with 2200 km on the clock bought last year from Germany, with touring seats, foot protections and windscreen. The owner upgraded to a supermeteor and left it there to find a buyer. Everybody forgot about it, and did not appear on the inventory list. Sometimes I get lucky like that. Contacted the owner in central Asia, Cambodia or something , paid by white transfer on the same day and yesterday morning I drove away. So, it has 2500 km now ( roughly 1500 miles), first servis at the importer, and some nice accessories.
@@shaolyndmv6273 very comfortable bike. I like that color too. Very classic looking.
Gorgeous bike. I’m really tempted to buy one. I just bought a Honda CB500X but still have my 2007 HD Dyna that I’m thinking of getting rid of for a smaller cruiser style. I like the color scheme of yours and the speedometer placement over the Hunter 350, but I like those a lot too. Nice video.
I highly recommend the Classic if you’re looking for something comfortable. I used to have a Harley. My father and brother-in-law still have one and I rode them recently. The Royal Enfield won’t have as much torque but it’s enough to give you something close. Can’t beat the price either.
Good demonstration sitting on old seat then the new. Definitely benefits the riders with short inside leg for comparison. 👍
It is higher but not enough to be a problem. If you fit on the factory seat this would not be a problem. Much more comfortable seat.
Good honest review. Its my first bike after not riding for over 30 years. Like you say its easy to ride and the perfect bike for a chilled out ride in the country. In the U.K where i live , Northumberland the area is quite hilly and this torquey engine handles the steep climbs with no problems. Also with this bike people stop to talk to you about the bike. Filling up at the gas station takes a little longer now!!! People actually like this kind of bike. Also the fuel consumption is great , easily 80 to 90 miles to the gallon. Thats U.K gallons. Thanks again. 👍
It really is a great bike. Glad you’re out there enjoying riding again.
Exactly my experience also , not ridden for 30 years and the Classic is perfect to explore the local lanes in Cornwall UK .
I have the same bike It's 2500$ in India 😊
How much is the average wage in India?
nice
Ive owned bigger sports bikes , and sold them because they make me wanna do dumb shit. This looks very appealing to me, as I do enjoy riding, but I want it to be a bit more casual and have less chance of killing myself.
The lower cc bikes are the best. You can give it full throttle without going too fast for the street. I got a Royal Enfield now. I love the bike for the comfort but I do miss my R3. If I had room for more bikes I would definitely get one
Great job with your review, and it is a really is a good looking ride and very comfortable. 👍👍
Thanks
Few days ago i did 1000 km in a single riding session very much reliable and comfy if you know what you are doing.. being r3 my first bike :)
Great ride this ❤ Whats the fuel economy like and your cruising speed? Pls share in UK or US mpg. I'll conveet that to kmpl.
I got around 50mpg and I wasn’t riding trying to conserve fuel. I did use 93 octane.
Swabeh talaga dream bike ko kaya pinag iiponan ko na yan eh kahit downpayment
I bought a midnight black 2023 r3 a month ago and I fucking love it
Good luck with it. They’re great bikes. I seen that new purple one a few weeks ago. Looks good too.
I got a shad trunk gonna go cross country
I moved down fronMT07 to R3 and feel so more confident and even more fun than the bigger engine
Yeah. Thanks because the R3 is suited for the street. You don’t have to fight with the bike. On the R3 you can’t crank the throttle and not be worried that you’ll get thrown.
From where I can get
eBay is where I got mine.
From where I can get?
hey rick enjoyed your video of pannier installation are you gonna get one of same for opposite side it looks cool,,,,,,,,,johnny
I’m glad you enjoyed the video. I’m actually just going to keep the one pannier. I like the offset look.
I agree with that. I have just the one on my Meteor.@@mrrick2904
Just out of interest you can get the engine rotation by putting the engine in fifth gear and using the rear wheel to rotate the engine, it's very easy and saves having to remove that engine case circular cover on the left side 😊
On the breather pipes, tape is not needed, both pipes are different sizes so it's easy to see which goes where 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks I couldn’t tell that from the start but I’ll keep that in mind for next time.
Did you soak the new oil filter in oil before install,it's better to do it as it means there is no delay in getting the oil circulation going and reaching the top of the engine, and the torque on the filter cover is 10nm and the oil drain bolts are 8nm 😊
Thanks for the torque settings. I didn’t soak the new filter. I know people do that. I may try that next time. I usually just put the filter in let it run then add more oil.
@@mrrick2904 it's not a life or death thing, but it just that soaking it in fresh oil saves time of it absorbing oil for the first time at start up, also ensuring that the oil feed to the top of the engine is pumped up as soon as possible 👍🏻
