Nebraska CropWatch Podcast Episode 61 | Nebraska On-Farm Research Network Results
The Nebraska On-Farm Research Network is an innovative program run by Nebraska Extension and coordinated by Laura Thompson, an extension educator and the guest of this podcast episode. As part of this program, Nebraska Extension partners with farmers in the state to help answer production, profitability, and natural resource questions. The results of these studies are then published in an annual report.

Part 5 How to Schedule Irrigations with Soil Water Data: End of Season Irrigation Scheduling
มุมมอง 3635 ปีที่แล้ว
This video demonstrates how to use your soil water data and tables of normal crop water use and precipitation for August and September to decide how to conduct the last few irrigations of the season. The goal is to use as much water in the soil profile as possible without lowering yield so the winter/spring precipitation can be stored in the soil rather than running off or deep percolating. Thi...
Part 4 How to Schedule Irrigations with Soil Water Data: Advanced Irrigation Scheduling
มุมมอง 7215 ปีที่แล้ว
Advanced Irrigation Scheduling Techniques demonstrates additional options, including how to estimate inches of available water in the root zone, determine how much irrigation would be needed to refill to field capacity, and estimate how many days it will be until the crop needs water. Another advanced strategy is creating and maintaining a dryer zone at the 12- to 24-inch depth. The strategy ca...
Part 3 How to Schedule Irrigations with Soil Water Data: Irrigation Scheduling
มุมมอง 1K5 ปีที่แล้ว
This video demonstrates two common techniques: Irrigation Scheduling Using Management Zones and Irrigation Scheduling Using Percent of Plant Available Water, looking at how they work and advantages and disadvantages of each. This is the third of five videos by Nebraska Extension Educator Steve Melvin on how to use soil water data to schedule irrigations. For more information, see Irrigation Sch...

มุมมอง 5475 ปีที่แล้ว
Data from field soil moisture sensors are key resources for irrigation management; however, there can be too much of a good thing. This video discusses considerations relating to installing the soil water monitoring equipment yourself or paying a company to provide you the data on the internet. Learn how to install soil moisture sensors to get good information as well as how to manage the data....

Forage-Livestock Options and Cover Crops Following Hail Damage in Corn or Soybean
Thanks.
The cane I am talking about is tall grain sorghum I think, planted heavy the stalks will stay smaller, and still be 6-7 ft taller
When I had cattle I raised cane for feed, as a kid we raised a lot of black amber before it became a noxious weed, I wish we could use it again as the chemical farmers have beat it
Pls subscribe

WHEN THE SUN IS BRIGHT AND THE FIELDS ARE RIPE WITH THE TASSEL ON THE CORN YOU CAN HEAR IT GROW IN THE EVENING GLOW OR THE HUSH OF EARLY MORN
Who post this lame shit
what the hell is a bushel? why dont your give people the weight: pounds, kilos or tons, instead of the volume (that changes from item to item)? sooo frustrating
A bushel is an imperial and US customary unit of volume based upon an earlier measure of dry capacity. The old bushel is equal to 2 kennings, 4 pecks, or 8 dry gallons, and was used mostly for agricultural products, such as wheat. thers this thing called search bar above TRY IT NEXT TIME.....
@@k94536 So is a "stone". But do you know how much of weight is a "stone"?? Come on. Let us use something that other people--including those in the US cities can understand. Oh, btw/, the citrus growers sell their products by the "trays". Go figure
@@TWOCOWS1 Come on!!! You can do little search and find out 1 mt = 36.5 Bushels. You need to understand this is United States of America we use difference type of measurements. Do your homework, don’t be lazy.
@@KingSolomon88 Bushel is a volume not weight. It is a weight when one associates it with a given item. Stop being a provincial. There is world out there outside your farmsted, Mr. "King"
I am glad now you know that Bushel is for measuring volume. Remember you can convert any type of units to different units ( mass, volume, liquid). If I am not mistaken this’s 4Th grade math. I tried to make it easier for something that, you might have a familiarity such as metric ton (MT).

Thank you so much, Dr. Bean. It was really productive. Nice work
Hi classmates 😁
I about read this In a book and had to see if it was true or if he made some really weird typo
I'm sure I heard it too ... th-cam.com/video/DSnc-Zh-myg/w-d-xo.html
A school mate of mine gave a graduation speech and as an aspiring farmer wanted to include a phrase about being able to hear corn grow on a quiet night. Apparently, our teachers weren't too thrilled with this as they all thought it was untrue, but he fought and was able to keep the words in his speech. Good for him.
I came here from the "what becomes 10x creepy at night video" 💀
Across the street from me is a corn field and some days when I go get my mail and I'm standing next to it I've heard this sound that sounds like zirripp. Sounds almost like a novelty whistle. Which I can only imagine is coming from the corn. Being as there's nothing else out there. It will only happen in the absolute best growing conditions though. Like say it rained the night before and then it is a windless sunny day. My best guess is the noise is the sound of a leaf rubbing on itself as it shoots up? Unless the cornfield is infested with clowns. But I've seen no evidence to support that theory.
“I should call him”
"Disease," more like a blessing. If only people knew this Huitlacoche "disease" makes their crop go up to 2000% in value.

Sorry, what? the audio is 30 worth of growth? What?
Is it normal that I heard the same sound from corn seeds that my mom washed before making pop corn ? at first I thought it may be something like some insect but then she told me she washed it so 100% not insects. How can it still make the same sound while it's not growing anymore
