Ben Stoeger tips: Trigger Control With The Glock
Those 2 front targets where at what distance from your shooting position?
Is the idea to just do thousands of reps of bringing the gun up and it just becomes automatic for the brain that you don’t need to focus on the sights?
This is the answer I’ve been looking for.
Looking at around 7:00 or so in the video, I tried doing that, not angling my wrist downward as so many people recommend, but leaving the wrist at a more natural position, more straight. But, I also get the first finger wrapping around the front of the trigger guard. The issue is that though I'd love to be able to shoot like that, as the amazing Lena Miculek does, as it appears to provide her with excellent control of the pistol, my first finger is so long that it wraps completely around the trigger housing and interferes with my trigger finger. Am I missing something, or doing something wrong? I'm about to become one of those super-seniors, so I need all the help I can get! Thank you! I just want to say that Eric is an extremely kind and helpful person. As many competitors have no doubt, I've been following him for decades, along with Henning and some of the other incredible international competitors. From back in the nineties when I was new to IPSC/USPSA competition and competing with a used 9x21 EAA small-frame Tanfo open-class pistol that I bought from Max Sr., to as recently as earlier this year, I have on numerous occasions written to him, most recently through his online store, asking a question of some type, hoping to glean some knowledge from his vast expertise. In every case, for at least 30-years now, Eric responded personally with general information, product info, advise, etc. That kind of accessibility is so rare today, and even more rare is an accessible person so willing to offer their expertise and knowledge to complete strangers from across an ocean. We need more folks like him! Thanks for an excellent video!
How can be this video has only one comment? This is one of the most useful tips for me (I am a IPSC newbie).
GOLD
Mr. Grauffel just seems like he's thinking about things on a different level. By no means am I an expert marksman, nor do I claim to have deep knowledge on the subject, but this guy instruction in impressive. BTW, I've tried this technique (as I understand it) on my last two trips to the range. It's not a grip that I can get quickly - still have to think too much about it - but it definitely makes shooting much more comfortable. I'm gonna stick with it. Thanks for posting this video.
9k viewers for these two is why police and military sucks at shooting
They should watch Ben’s class instead he posted a entire class straight up have e watch that class master if for a year then teach the rest of your department
In my world of shooting this is a PhD level class... but I'm still in pre-school. Great info... thanks for posting this.
This is a great idea for a series, it seems like the top guys are always training and still getting better at being fast and accurate and sharing this kind of information is real beneficial
One time, I participated in a match, and the day before it, I broke my right hand - specifically, the metacarpal bones of my pinky and ring finger. Essentially, all I could do with my right hand was pull the trigger, and that was it. Surprisingly, my accuracy was better that day!
Thank you for sharing your technique for gripping the weapon. I got inspired and took out a gun form the safe to try some dry firing right away. It feels a bit unfamiliar, but at the same time, I believe this could really improve my shooting in the long run. Many thanks!
you could throw rocks and still be a grand master
Great video! Straight to the point and my 19 is June of 88 ! Thanks.
That was meaningless. My brand new Glock 19 Gen 5 has none of that.
❤never to late❤❤❤
Ask yourself. Dont lie.
Thanks for the excellent training video
this is gold. i
My Glock 26 first three serial# are BYV- - -US. I can't find what year it was made. On the slide, it says Austria .
is it without limiter?
Respect to JJ for repping RIA and Armscor! Mabuhay ka!
Where do i find it
This is awesome. Is there a place where the full video lives?
Another issue might be related to your eyes getting older: the front sight isn't far enough away for you to focus on well. The red dot appears to be at infinity, or out somewhere near the target at least, and that can help.
Does JJ ever teach in the philippines?
Good stuff. Every movement explained in detail. Thank you for the great info!!
Self analyzation versus repetition makes sense. I once stated to a professional singer that practice makes perfect and she then corrected me. She stated that perfect practice makes perfect. I then figured out that working on the perfect part is more important than the repetition.
Jerry shoots 9MM out of that wheel gun and it uses "moon clips", so when Jerry says loading "clips" it is correct LOL
Shoot, i have 2 red dots being put on pistols with BUIS.
Solid gold
Jj! 🔥🔥
The goat 🙌✨
For competition shooting, wouldn't you want a little broader back sight? So, on those shots where you need a little higher level confirmation, it's still easier to get the front in the middle of the back sight, not like bullseye shooting.
Very nice video. Very helpful. Im very thankful.
What optic is Jerry using on his revolver? Never seen anything like it.
Aimpoint
@@theshootingacademy2013 Brilliant, thanks!
My Glock serial number is AGT but this does not match anything I’m seeing online
Just bought a used Glock 26 gen 4 the 3 lteers are not there can’t find them barrel only says 9x19 and AT on top nothing by serial number and not 3 letters on the frame just a blank spot on the fde frame
only 3 comments for a 9 time world champion?
It's unreal.
He’s not wearing a plate carrier, he was never in SOF, there’s no rock music. This a technical discussion and has limited entertainment value to those not actually interested in improving their shooting or expanding their knowledge base.
ok - but how do I know what is wrong? About sightpicture - is it my sightalingment - or my grip - or my transaction from one target to another?? How do I know what to change?
You do your dry fire of what you think is correct and go to the range to validate. Dry fire is not a stand alone activity from live fire
Also constant research, dry fire and live fire. Research a grip or a draw you want to try. See if it's better in times and accuracy with live and dry fire. Record the data. Be easy on yourself so you don't get frustrated though.
gold; thanks for sharing this 👍
Eric takes shooting to an academic level . I’m sure most of his competitors don’t think like this
my g19 gen 4 has ABPA 2**
Answered a question that has been bothering me for a while. Plus, it's always funny to see you trying hard to make these mistakes 😂
What we can do easily, he has to try hard to do. So who's the real expert hu? 😂
@@paddypibblet846I love your perspective! As it happens, I’m practically a connoisseur of all terrible habits. 👍🏼
With your new wrist position (down) your support hand is much, much stronger which lets you grip the bottom of the grip much better.
My three letters are BCG, anybody know? I'm fairly sure it's a first gen. Thank you to anyone that can help.
Very interesting! How do you get these great shooters on your channel? I see JJ often as he lives down the street from my daughter!
It’s my understanding that actual real life shootings the majority report total focus on the target. After decades of old school sight focus(Retired LEO) gonna try this.
It really works but takes a little time to be confident enough so as to not switch back and forth between target focus and sight focus!
My Glock 22 gen 3 is from the Puerto Rico Police dep. and the 3 letters are PFV. There is no V in the code look up.
He now layering video too th-cam.com/video/VLb_CPgOeWE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=w75ul1x1wNHWax_z
