Florida Inshore Fishing with Hook'd Up Charters
I was able to briefly escape the cold in the Northeast and made it down to Florida to do some inshore saltwater fishing. The weather was not ideal, but Jeff from Hook'd Up Charters still got us on a great bite!

Chasing Striped Bass to the End of the Season
มุมมอง 277ปีที่แล้ว
Here's some Saltwater Fishing footage of my last boat fishing trip of 2022. The larger striped bass had mostly moved out, but the schoolies certainly showed up and made for a fun last day on the water. Most of the fish were caught on topwater plugs, but a few were willing to take a small soft plastic and a bucktail.
Last Saltwater Kayak Fishing Trip of the season!
มุมมอง 380ปีที่แล้ว
Here's footage from my last saltwater kayak fishing trip of the 2022 season. I chose a day to go out where the fish were feeding heavily and it made for a great day of fishing. Here's to getting back on the yak in the spring!

I’m gonna catch a blue fish soon
What part of Connecticut are you in
What’s your hook placement when trolling deadies? I’ve been going through the bottom lip out the forehead and loosing a lottttt of nice hits. Sometimes I don’t go far enough into the forehead and they pick me right off easy, sometimes I go to deep I feel like and have what feels like an amazing hook set but my hook never sticks the fish and I’m left with my bunker who got the hook torn through his bottom lip and gills somehow , essentially ruining the presentation.
Yarn
A friend had this stuff I never knew the name until coming across this videos this stuff works like a dream it’s super light compared to a bobber but we did run out of the bobber material we had just enough for 4 rods but then resorted to standard bobbers. It is a trade off but casting flows out much nicer with this in going to buy for myself soon
Hot take: Targeting Sea Robin is more fun than targeting Fluke
I started going to Riverhead without my kaya due that I'm new to such area. I'm in nj let me know if you dont mind some company to do some kayak fishing in L.I. always looking for fiah
NZ strike indicator all the way- no mess, easy to attach and remove for reuse, slides up and down leader, no kinks in the line from placement, quick feedback response from fish strike because it’s lighter and more buoyant than anything on the market. Oh , and did I mention it’s not a symmetrical object floating in the water spooking fish, it’s excellent with shy fish because it looks like a fly, or a leaf even. There’s a video from Reds fly shop where they explain how to set up a NZ indicator with a mono loop and tippet ring, it’s the best indicator I’ve ever used.
Try Oros strike indicators 🔥
You are using leader mono / fluorocarbon or lure directly to the braid?
What’s the location ? Please share thank you
Hey man great videos. I surf fish ri for stripers and blue You could get some great content from it
man shits cost more than my fly box, and it can fall of
Just came across your channel… Subbed. So nice to see a CT kayak fisherman on TH-cam. I’m anxiously waiting for the spring run. You’ll find me 50 miles east of you!
I know I’m probably a little late on the video 😂 , but what’s the rod and reel set up? what pound test , what size rod , and what size reel ? again man just came across them love your videos 🔥🔥
In this video I'm using a 9 foot surf rod that has 1ft removed from the butt. The reel is a penn battle 3 with 30lb power pro braid.
@@SaltyHunterFishing Appreciate it 👌🏾
30 pound line ?
Yes!
Loon o ring yarn indicators all the way
Before you vacuum pack your fish. Do you rinse it off under freshwater first? Or do you not do that until after defrosted than ready to cook?
I rinse and pat dry before sealing.
@@SaltyHunterFishing thanks for the reply. I’m wondering if I ruined my fish by not doing so then? I caught a whole lot of Fluke during the summer. I filleted most and boat did many others. As soon as I get home I take them out of cooler with ice and I vacuum pack them. I had a guy once a long time ago tell me you never rinse under fresh water before freezing. That it’ll ruin the meat and make it mushy when defrosted. To leave as is and rinse after defrosted before prep and cook. I defrosted 2 vacuum packs to cook the other night and the smell was off putting. Never did anything differently than what he told me and I’m wondering if that had any affect to it. I rinsed it and still smelled pretty bad and just threw it all away. I’m just gonna rinse under fresh water and pat dry before freezing just to be safe. Knowing if there is a smell the meat is bad and not from not rinsing off beforehand
Nice fluke!
Used many times diff colour not even a bite.
How long do you have the bait down till you switch spots
Just caught my first flounder(s) down south, but now that I’m back in New England I need to go catch some fluke.
I live in Branford area, just got a brand new oldtown Bigwater pdl 132 and just ordered a newport nk180 for it. Are u ever in this area fishing ? I want to go out far but dont have anyone to go with..
Massive porgy good catch man
Music to my ears ❤ ! How much was it?
Did you have any sort of trailer on
hey dustin whats good? miss your videos. Quick question since it looks like you know a thing or 2 about reel maintenance: on the drag washers, do you re-grease them or replace the felt with carbon fiber ones at all?
Hey Peter! Good to hear from you! I have a baby due any day now so I haven't been able to get out much. I've never replaced felt washers with carbon fiber, but I'm sure could. I always clean and re-grease the washers using Cal's Grease. Regular grease will decrease your drag power significantly.
@@SaltyHunterFishing well thats super exciting! hope all goes well with the delivery and you welcome home a new member to your family! I got to check out that grease. the Penn reel grease is no good on the washers?
@@PeterRanieriII No sir! That's for everything but drag washers.
@@SaltyHunterFishing thank you!!!
I’m a big ct angler and bro killer content Mabye we can exchange emails or something and do some fishing together brotha nice fluke btw!!
Looks real shallow there, what depth?
I think a stocked trout might be a little more interested in the indicator than the fly😅
Haha. On the Kootenay River last month. Small orange slip indicator with nymph. Had a wild cutty come up 5 times and pretty much chewed half the indicator off. Quick rod change got him on a big elk hair caddis. Guess I was chumming with Styrofoam.
Damn
I would never spend so much on a 4000 size reel
The really cool thing about that is that you don't have to!
it’s like a Honda driver saying their car is just as fast as a Ferrari
I have never caught a striper. I gave up
You just gotta find the a pod of bunker on the surface then either live line a bunker, throw a top water or a swimshad. You just gotta find the bunker
Wowwwww
Where are you , just got my first one of season today in Salem MA
Nice 👍🏽 That’s one of my favorite brand of fishing rods. Got 3 of them few days ago. I’m ready for spring season 🎣
Great video, what part of the country is this?
Long Island Sound!
Hope to get out there this summer for some Black Sea Bass!
sweet catches your making me anxious to get down south!!!!!
Nice
Wtf is that 100lb test or something 😂
Haha - It's fly line.
@@SaltyHunterFishing ah I never really got into fly fishing never released it was that thick guess it makes sense since it has to float…
@Tyyy That's right! Unlike how you use the weight of the lure to load a rod with conventional gear, you use the fly line weight to load the rod in fly fishing. Without heavy line, you wouldn't be able to cast very well.
Been there… Good to see you still posting and growing.. Hope your ok, people don’t realize how that fall with sharp rocks could have made it worse
Good to hear from you and thanks for the kind words! Hope you're well!
Anxiety out the ass i was tryna get out the water for you lol
It was hard to do with a dislocated shoulder!
Everyone that fishes has a good chance of falling in the water at least once. I have twice.
Lesson learned!
watching these vids helps pass the winter blues - didn't know you also use a Shimano teremar, very nice. Is it a medium heavy or medium? I really think they are a great balance of quality and affordability
I feel the same way man! I can only freeze my butt off chasing trout for so long. And yes - I love the rod and mine is a medium.
Shiit where at in CT. I'm down by thames
Love the Thames! Can't wait till the spring run
Any spot recommendations I am in Westport ct
I live their
Yaa!aaa
Oh yeah that's the quinnipiac River in South Meriden Connecticut
That's some cool stuff man I've been fishing on the River where I'm living bushwhack style off-grid I've been here for like 6 months now and it kind of sucks but it's kind of good cuz my front of my house front of my tent is a quinnipiac River itself if caught some nice fish out of here piece of the northeast of Bearded fisherman!!
