I’m a week into learning Davinci on my iPad. I have the edit page unlocked. One annoying thing I’m finding is moving clips around on the timeline, I’m forever overwriting clips. Is there a better way to move the order of clips around other than copying and inserting clips that way

Is it worth it to learn all of the traditional editing terminology (like trim, slip, etc.)? And then learn to use the cut page? I haven't done it in five years of DR use, but I'm always down for saving time.

I started out with Photoshop Version 2.5 on floppy disks when you had to scan a negative or a photo print with a flatbed scanner to get your file! I actually helped Adobe with Lightroom Alpha testing and suggested the Delete or X option which they introduced (not in the same way as I suggested!) I was really disappointed to see them go down the £10 a month subscription path, my model was to buy the full version and upgrade every other version when there was sufficient features to justify - we are talking a couple of hundred quid to upgrade. I guess they ran out of killer features to entice the likes of me. So I gave Affi out Photo a go, they are based in Nottingham and I’ve had great customer support from them. It is a bargain for what you get. Especially at a PS style suite of programs Photoshop, Illustrator and Quark XPress in one super value bundle. Sorry I sound like they’re paying me to advertise (they aren’t!) just buy it!

After >20 years using PS I changed from Windows to Linux Mint and from PS to Gimp. If missing Camera Raw, "Dark Table" is a competitive alternative. I still miss the unique, great Texttool of PS, but this is the only feature I miss (and of course the workflow, too). I copied the picture from Your video to Gimp and let the lens vanish by "health" function: the result was perfect! Unfortunally "Affinity Photo" doesn't exist natively for Linux. At "Reddit" they told, it should work with "Wine". Maybe the Affinity gives us the mercy and extend to Linux. Or Gimp3 with the improved texttool finally comes.

But my plugin list does not have the Open fx as well as the Deflicker, only Resolve FX I have. Where and how do you get this deflicker plugin?

I got mine basically for free and honestly I'm not a fan. A regular keyboard already does everything the speed editor can, and much more. The jog wheel is nice though.

I really wonder if this Pincel service, when you upload a photo to their cloud, is any different from Adobe. They also look at the image, scan it, analyze it, and use it for training. In what way are they different from Adobe?

Wanted to purchase Adobe photo pack ( LrC + PS ) and Adobe wouldn't even let me despite me trying multiple times with both CC and PayPal options ... i mean yeah thank you Adobe i guess 🤷🤣

It's not underrated. It's just very basic. Some footage is hard to fix even with crazy expensive 3d party custom plug-in. I didn't say the footage is complicated. It is stubborn.

I want this app, but it looks like the macbook price is 149, and you have to get the iphone app for another 49 annually, and I'm assuming if I want it on any other devices I have to purchase the pro version for those devices also? Just on a lark, I asked ChatGpt the following question: Blackmagic Davinci Resolve makes a physical device called their "speed editor". Unfortunately, it only works with Davinci Resolve. What i like about affinity is that it's somehow much more intuitive than other sw. I find i can obtain needed results by winging it much better and faster than with alternatives

I don't think this is a problem. I think you are actually choosing the wrong tool. Cloud need connection, obviously a good connection for this kinda of work. Same thing as the need to have a good computer or a good screen for cg. If you want to work locally, the best solution might be download the .drp, duplicate the working timeline, give it a proper name and when you finished export the .drt to the original cloud. It all comes to a clean project management and editing workflow.

Can this be used as a stream deck?

I have used Photoshop since it came out, I made my professional career with PH and the paid software was very expensive at the time, it stopped working and they put in monthly payments. I had to hire it this time by the month and when I finished a month's work, surprise!!! I couldn't cancel it unless I paid for the year. Which I'm sure is in the small print... Never again Photoshop, as I used DaVinci Resolve as a pro, I was able to use it for color and with many advantages, but even so there were still simple operations missing and finally Affinity offers a solution for all those disenchanted with Adobe. I have tried it and started using it directly without reading anything, except for some differences in names it works almost the same in general. You can even load plugins like Denhacer...

Mine came free with the license so it's obviously a great deal! With the improved functionality of the cut page it has stacks of good use and frankly, there is benefit to actually spending more time in the cut page and using the edit page for the finessing, for want of a better word.

Can you test it with Ipad Pro?

i detest Adobe for their garbage treatment of paying customers. i outright bought their mobile suite of apps as an early adopter. over time, they forced updates that may have added subscription-only features (which is already slimy), but also moved original features back-and-forth between subscription-only and included with my paid account. the final straw was the removal of the apps i paid for from all of my devices. i won’t ever buy from them again. it’s criminal.

Except it's not for free (at least in Ver 18 of da Vinci) unless you own the Studio ver. and it is no where near as good as plugins for AE like what Granite Bay used to make before Adobe went crazy, these were totally professional de flicker plugins. The best way is of course to shoot without any flicker from whatever source/reason.

Hi there! I usually do not comment on videos but wanted to share my solution to brutal lag (even in 720p) with H.265 iPhone footage on my 12.9 M1 iPad Pro. Turns out that frame interpolation was set to Optical flow, and as my project was in 29,97 fps and iPhone footage is 30, optical flow was killing the performance. Now with that set to closest this this flies, even with effects & a 4K timeline.

I bought the new iPad Pro M4 for short edits with davinci resolve. But I have a big problem with an external SSD. After I import some media, the files show up correctly in Davinci Resolve for a short time. But after a few seconds all media is offline and I can't access the media in the files app.The SSD is still displayed in the Files app, but I cannot access it. To be able to access it again, I have to restart the ipad. . But even then I can't use the external SSD for editing. I have no idea what the problem is. With internal footage it works without problems...

are you able to transfer photoshop brushes to Affinity?

I certainly didnt NEED it, but I was needing to purchase the studio version of davinci anyway, so mine as well get some bang for my buck. I love it.

Adobe Photoshop is still more powerful overall than Affinity Photo.
