Hey, my name is Cody, a little bit of background information on me is I currently work a full time job as a logger and have done so for the last 13 years. Through my time as a logger I have seen many repairs that require welding and fabrication and I have always been intrigued by the trade. For the last 3 years I have been building a business (haven’t started yet), but I have since bought a welder generator, a service truck, many tools, consumables and much more. I will finally be able to launch my dream within the next year. I am going to maintain my full time job for as long as I need to or can, while running my welding business on the side until it hopefully takes off and is successful. I spent 2 years in college working around my full time day job schedule in order to obtain all basic welding skills and was successful in obtaining 2 welding certifications. I have done a number of small jobs since at my house to keep relevant and help with some side cash but I’m almost ready to hit the road. My number one fear was to not be completely prepared to help a customer, and not be fully confident in my work therefore, I am taking the long road gathering all the necessary items and skills to become a professional welding entrepreneur. Anyways, I wanted you to understand that I’m not here on a whim or with an idea that just popped into my head 2 minutes ago, I’m serious in making a go of this. I have watched many videos like yours and I have to say thank you. You have the absolute best “business side” tips and tricks video I have seen so far and you seem very confident and extremely knowledgeable. And so I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to spread what you have seen and learned, it certainly means a lot to me and I can’t explain how important I find this information to be. So thank you and yes, I would really really appreciate more videos like this in the future if you haven’t done so already, I’m going to look at your other videos now. I got a job that i was recommended for fixing some dump trucks but I can't think of what to charge easy work. Most of my tools been stolen, so i am using my arc captain mig 200. It works well

Well, watched two videos in a row on this machine. If I were to get one of these, between stick and fluxcore, which do you feel is "easier" to run? As I said in the previous video on this machine, it would be mainly for my Nieces and Nephews to get there feet wet...and hopefully do some projects in my little shop. Again, thanks for the video, and I think you would be a good teacher if you aren't already.

Pretty neat little machine! Have been looking at small welders for use in my little shop. I probably wouldn't use it much myself due to COPD, but my Nephews and Nieces would really get into it! Great video, and you have a new subscriber. Thanks.

Is the lofted barns hard to make? I’m looking to build my own 12x40 and have figured it’d be about $6k in materials. Even considering doing 14x60 but I’m being suggested not to for the fact it’s not easily able to be moved. I got quoted $14k with no protective barriers and then for the whole shebang it’d be $18k. I just don’t understand the price difference and if they’re really shooting for that much profit or are they doing something I don’t know about

It's not just fabrication struggling it's every business look around large companies are shutting there doors .companies are moving to other countries ect

Arc captain components are generic Chinese gurb@ge if you check its internals That is why it dont last long on daily usage so you cant really compared it to Lincoln. You'll get the idea if you have a PC with generic powersupply it dont last long on daily usage and cause fire, nothing different with these generic welders melting cables if not failing because they are not true rated. Last time esab put a chinese components on their emp210 its now crowding our service centers

Portaband is good on the basic level. I slowly added 3 axis laser, hot saw, mag drill, ln-25, compressor and plasma to my mobile setup. I think core drill and then line boring/welding are my next two upgrades. And a backhoe is my 2 year upgrade plan.

So did it use Lincoln consumables?

I need a plasma cutter for fabbing custom tabs. I’m so tired of buying and modifying tabs to work for my stuff.

My father worked in steel his entire life, from welding and building bridges to working at steel mills and building steel blast furnaces. Having worked at union jobs, to non-union jobs, every place he worked folded up until the last place, a blast furnace place downsized and moved a lot of production to Mexico. Over 55 years of working in steel, he left and went to work at a medical warehouse, made as much as he did in steel. Over that 55 years I saw environmental regulations, automation, de-skilling, outsourcing, and in-sourcing causing the steel industry to shrink long term year after year, as a whole, since the late 1970s. This is not new. Each year the pie gets a little smaller. It is a horrific head wind for anyone getting into the industry. A wise man enters an industry that is growing, not one that is ultra competitive and shrinking. There just is not enough money in it to justify entering that industry. My family struggled for years as the industry was shrinking, and it is still shrinking. The pie gets smaller, and so its a race to the bottom, and it is a negative sum game. The real economy is struggling and getting worse by the year (with the exception of AI and automation and wall street) and the stock market soars. There are few real opportunities where a man can get ahead with hard work anymore. The deck is stacked, the game is rigged, and the table is tilted. Nobody in office, republican or democrat, cares about the working man, the middle class. The politicians and the rich tech bros will take everything of value, as George Carlin said: they already own all the important land, own all the stocks, and have bought all the politicians, and pretty soon they are going to come for your retirement money, they want it back, they want it all back, they are coming for your social security money, and they will get it.

New sub after seeing this video. You really opened my eyes to how complicated this process is going to be. It’s been my dream for the past few years to start my own gig because I absolutely love to weld. I just purchased my welder/generator, a Lincoln ranger 250 GXT for 1250 bucks from my employer. I now know from your advice that I have a very long road ahead but I’m grateful for you opening my eyes to it, thank you.

Yoo. I got one with ur link to support u . Been on the fence cuz I like the prime weld MiG 180 better . Plus it comes with the spool g. But the 205ds was 42%off arrived today just under $310 .. by the time I order a spool g and maybe the yeswelder 15ft twice it's about the same price but you do get more amps with this one. Door seems kinda small to fit a 10lb roll in there . But that's my thought oh ya and the screen is super hard to see. I'm always having to hunch over and the LEDs are made bright... Small details like that make a big difference in the field. But she's Gona be a beater and I saved a whole buck and ulhope u got a commission too. All good right .
