Headless Bass GOOD-NESS!! IBANEZ EHB 1265MS-NML HD 1080p
I took my Stingray Special and Fullerton Kiloton 5 out to my music school and played them both through an Ampeg B15 style combo amp. I use a YYZ as a preamp. We play loud with two guitars and I had a hard time hearing the 18v Stingray (mids maxed and bass cut a little). But not the Kiloton. It has that aggressiveness in Series mode to keep up. And the B string was killing it on Slipknot's Duality. I usually take my G&L PBass, Spector Euro, or Warwick 5 but wanted to try the Stingray and Kiloton against each other. Playing Iron Maiden on my Stingray, I could not really hear myself however I usually use my Fullerton G&L Pbass which also has no issue keeping up with a killer P tone. G&L makes very loud and cutting passive basses (except the Tribute Jazz I have).
it's beautiful, good colour, but, what's the difference between ehb1005MS vs EHB 1265MS?
Wood types
Love the "Reel to Reel" in the back ground! Salute! ( Ret. Vet.)
i always think that bridges are also the same as US? and they call it binding the black around the neck.. ;)
sounds great and its gorgeous. How about the weight?
Thanks for the review! Anyone experience with this Markbass in combination with a double bass with piezo elements? Thanks!
i tried this model recently and it is a very good bass for 550$.. even compete with a higher price target
btw if you in series mode roll both treble and bass down you can get somewhat JB like sound :)
Can you play fretless with 6 inch legs?
😂
300 w rms or 500w rms ?
This amp?? Is 500 watts if you plug and extension cab and 300 without. The volume is basically the same with the extension cab but it just sounds “bigger” and a bit more head room.
Is it normal for that Hi-Fi tweeter to hiss? I just got mine today and I’m a bit worried about it as it is my first amp
Hey mate, no, I had no hiss. I mean if you turn it way up it will make some noise but unless it’s cranked, the one I had had no strong audible hiss✌️
There is more hiss with the hifi tweeter of the Pure version (the one I have), which is kind of weird, but it is reported to be "normal".
Throw away the tweeter on bass gear...
500 W ???? 😆 50 w ------ max 100 w.
How do you draw that conclusion?
no, 500....or 300 to 8 ohms
I love Mark bass but this amp is trash
Why specifically do you think it is trash? I'm in the market for one of the new MB combos, so I'm curious about your feedback. Thanks.
@@tommyblierbass this am is basically just for practice is sounds horrible I have the come 102 p and it’s has the best punch ever, the best combo mark bass makes in my opinion any of their 4/10 cabinets or any 10 inch combos are the best, big speakers dirty up the sound
@@tommyblierbassplus it’s easy to clip these big speakers
@@MUPHYSLAWTV Got it, thanks! Yeah, I'm more interested in the MB58R CMD 102 PURE Combo with an 8 ohm MB58R 102 PURE extention cab to unlock the full 500 watts when I need it. I was also considering going with a MB58R 104 PURE cab and one of the MB heads, but I already have a "larger" and more powerful rig in my GK Fusion 1200 and neo cab, so I was looking for a smaller and more portable solution for situations that are not appropriate for the GK.
Hey guys, no I do not agree, active or passive basses it’s not easy to clip these speakers. The amp input is pretty sensitive but if the input gain is right these speakers go pretty darn loud. Having said that I am and always have been a 10 guy and smaller gigs and rehearsals I use the 2x10 version and on big gigs I use Ninja heads and 4x10 pure cabs. But THE BEST mark bass I ever played was the Alain Caron K1 super combo. That thing is incredible! That’s the only 12 I ever truly liked and the amp it’s self? I was playing massive stages with just that and it’s 1x12 extension. Killer. But these new cabs and combos rock
Bought mine couple weeks ago. Used it w/2 Blackline 15 cabs. Pretty nice. Still tweaking it abit to hear more tone options.
I use this live exclusively and have done for the last 12 months or so and it’s kick ass🤓✌️
Hi, I have a Ibanez sr405 and was wondering how the 12 handels a b string at a loud volume? Easy to sound good at low volume.
Hey there mate. It’s tight and punchy and does not distort out. I have used both this and the 2x10 version in various live situations with 5 and 6 string and various effects like octave etc and it’s really clean and tight. Personally I am a 10 guy, I just prefer that size speaker, and to be honest, it’s probably just a placebo/can’t teach and old dog new tricks thing but both these amps handle medium venues and stages fine. And depending on style of music of stage volumes of your companions, it’s good for big gigs too. I have played large stage festivals with it also with no issue. And with a second 12 extension? Well you good to go for any gig in my opinion.Cheers for watching ✌️❤️
P R O M O S M 🤷
Great sounding and simple to use octave pedal. Thanks for the demo
Cheers mate!🤓✌️
Hell yes, awesome and very thorough, thanks Josh!
Thank you!! And please keep it up with the great work, Loving it big time ✌️🤓
Very cool Josh 👏😁
Awesome mate, thanks for the vibes🤟🤓 and keep up your good work over there on your channel❤️🎶
@@ToyBoxPlayaReviews Thanks 👍😀 See u soon 🎥

How do you like it for passive pickups, especially like a P bass? I’ve been looking at the new Markbass gear as a backup to my Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 combo which I still love as my main rig for small to medium size venues.
In the studio where I did the recording, just to the left of camera on the wall is 10 basses. Being an Ibanez Endorsee I was unable to play them in the video, but off camera I did pull down a 74 Fender P, a Dan Armstrong Ampeg bass, a 5 string stingray and a Rickenbacker and I liked it on all of them. Like I say, Mark bass has a tone to it, it is not completely transparent, it has the Mark Bass tone but your bass still sounds like your bass. And I am really liking this new range. I also tried the 210 Combo recently. Also a great combo. So for passive P bass I can highly recommend this. And I had a discussion recently about 1x12 or 2x12 or 2x10, and I have tried lots of them, and honestly, for this price point, you will not find better. The mix of features, the light weight and quality of sound? I think this makes it a certain winner.
@@ToyBoxPlayaReviews Great to hear, thanks. I've been through a lot of amps over the years and actually tried some Markbass amps several years ago but didn't like the tone color at the time. I played a couple locally a few weeks ago w/my P-style Sandberg and was more pleasantly surprised with the new line. I'll check out your vids on cabinets. Price (this will be my backup) weight and size count a lot, but of course tone and to some extent power are important. Really appreciate your review and reply!
Do you have some 4 months later experiences?
Hey Buddy, I only had the bass to do the video so I don’t have any further feed back. I do have one of the fretted versions and they are killer basses, especially at this price point. 👌
Thanks for the response@@ToyBoxPlayaReviews! I currently have one and I was just wondering about the chosen materials, basswood and richtlite. Do they hold up? I guess we'll have to find out for ourselves then :). Agreed, it is a very good sounding and playing bass able to sound good playing from metal to singing melodic jazz lines.
Ive been after this model for. While. Reallyvlike the 1505ms, wasnt too keen on the 1005ms (Bartolini sounds bit dull/flat compared to the Nordstrand pickups...), However, i really like the look of the 1265
The 1265 is my fave of all the EHB so far. I did not keep this bass however if I did I would use the Aguilar DCB. However, when you do the preamp tweak, switch the two internal connectors, the Barts sound much more lively and bright.
you've got a fairly amount of buzz on your B-string, your neck needs some adjustment I think.
Hey Herby, Thanks for the feedback mate. No, yeah, everyone likes it different, according to what I do though it needs no adjustment, that’s the way I set my two SR5006 basses. The crunch and buzz is part of my sound. I get it as crunchy as I can before it losses sustain or chokes the notes, that is my preferred set up in those puppies so it’s super aggressive and percussive. Cheers ✌️
@@ToyBoxPlayaReviews thanks!
Sounds good! How does this compare to the Mini CMD 121P IV?
To be honest, they are very similar beasts in a lot of ways but I am loving these new poly boxes and I like the position of the head. Both sound great but this one in the video would win for me✌️
@@ToyBoxPlayaReviews Thank you!!! I like the 121p IV because it has more power, more EQ options, and more features. However, I just discovered that there is an MB58R mini CMD 121 Pure that has the same specs but weighs only 21 lbs with Neo speakers!!!!!!. This is the one to get!
Is it enough good for studio recording? I`m trying to find affordable bass amp that will give some life and weight to the tone. I got sick and tired of plugins. Kind regards.
Yes, great for studio. Nice tone variations and very musical. With Markbass in the studio I normally run the DI pre EQ and mic up the speaker but obviously, there is the option to run the DI post as well. Very good sounding and portable combo.
have you tried it with flats? flats are my preferred string for fretless and i haven’t seen any videos of someone playing one with flats, and im curious about how it sounds with flats. although, im sure it sounds amazing with flats.
Howdy. Well no and I will tell you why. It’s incredibly “risky” or maybe potentially expensive (is a better way to say it) using flats on a headless. There are a few tricks you need to use to minimize the risk of the string unravelling at the head stock end. Even when you use some of the tricks there is still a chance they unravel. Having said that, some round core strings (like DR) can also unravel on the headless technology. On one of my headless I use the classic Labella flats and they are still going, sound great and never unravelled. My favourite flats, the TI flats, no chance, they will unravel or break almost immediately.
@@ToyBoxPlayaReviews i see, i never knew about the issues that crop up with using flats on a headless bass.
basswood ? no thanks
I hear ya Tony, it was the only concern I had with this bass. It plays and sounds great and the price point is awesome but the basswood body stuff? Personally I stay away from the softer body woods for live use because my gear takes a pounding. I have gigged the EHB line and have not had an issue aside from a few strap pins pulling out. They are more liable to cop a ding or two than other more dense woods. The pair of Japanese made RB730’s from the early 80’s I play a lot are bass wood bodies and bass wood is actually really punchy. And over the years they have become quite resonant, but the biggest difference for me in durability? If you look at the older Japanese made bass wood guitars they use a very thick finish on them which protects them from picking up easy dings and bumps. That would be my gripe, the newer ones have a very light finish. If they beefed up the finish and gave it a nice thick one, these basses are unbeatable. But then? That’s why I like the EHB1265 so much, it’s a hell of a lot sturdier.
I got one and I am very happy with it. Very good and complete review!
🤟😉
Round wounds, absolutely. Love this, the only disappointing thing for me about this is no peizo :( It makes a huge difference on SRF700 model. Peizo and fretless are like bread & butter!
Yeah, true that, but overall for the price it’s a beast
@@ToyBoxPlayaReviews Yeah, I still want this!
@@ToyBoxPlayaReviewsJust ordered one yesterday. It will be here in one hour.
nc video keep it up !!!
Cheers🤟🤓
$$$ ???
They retail for about 800 euro I believe 🤟😉 killer combo
Is your action set very low? I hear a lot of string slap and rattle.
You using headphones?? The action certainly was pretty low outta the box when they sent it, I literally unboxed it half an hour before the video, but also on top of that what you are hearing would be a bit of the acoustic sound from the Room mic as well because cause I play pretty hard compared to most. I ended up setting the action at about 2.3mm or so on the B and E at the 12th fret marker so it was low but not super low, especially for a fretless. Really fun fretless to Play, after the vid I actually noodles around for another hour or so, lots of fun. 🤟😉
So thats what EHB means. What about SR or BTB? Beautiful bass. Just beautiful.
Hey Brother. SR is sound gear and BTB is boutique bass🤟😉
Awesome video, thanks for covering this bass!
Thanks for checking it out🤟😉
Thank you!
👍🤓
Nice, always wanted to know how this sound (I owned a EHB1005)
This one was really good and super solid.🤟
