When Liquid Metal is applied by manufacturers on consumer products such as ps5, and laptops with it from factory. There is typically a protective lining ing of foam that uses adhesive to stick to the area surrounding the die. It is there to protect the motherboard from the Liquid Metal. As it heats up under use it will become much less viscous and will begin to flow out from between the die and heat sink like water. Scotch tape does not die this, the foam ring is a much better long term solution
