    • @enablerdave
      @enablerdave 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      114L, 116L and 118L are the length. By dropping down.. do you mean falling off the smallest sprocket towards the frame? Or do you mean the chain and derailleur get loose because the chain is too long?

    • @enablerdave
      @enablerdave 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheRazvancristian Hmm.. like it's skipping under pedal pressure? If that's the case, your old chain might have been worn too much and it wore the smallest sprocket down.. so now the new chain, which has a smaller gap between pins than the older chain (which was stretched) no longer fits on the worn sprocket teeth. So you may have to replace the sprocket or cassette. If it's only doing it on the smallest sprocket, you may just be able to replace the smallest sprocket instead of the whole cassette. Does that make sense?

    • @enablerdave

      How do you figure that? There's only one place it fits. Position 1 goes against a roller. Position 2 goes against a roller 4 rollers behind it. It doesn't matter where the wide links are.

    • @gilletteguy787
      @gilletteguy787 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    • @enablerdave
      @enablerdave 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@gilletteguy787I think I know what you mean now... You're talking about the space between the wide links vs the space between the narrow links. It doesn't make a difference. They just had to draw the chain accurately and pick a spot to portray putting the hook. The rollers wear the same no matter their orientation to the wide links. I've checked 1000s of chains. It never matters if the hook goes between a wide link or a narrow link.

    Been awhile, rode Trek mountain bike's, always had tubes. Unless you can guarantee I'll never get a flat, I'd stick with old school tubes. btw, got me think'in, the Tour de France, when they get a flat, who fixes it? ...or do they trade out bikes and go.

    • @enablerdave
      @enablerdave 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I hear you. I prefer tubes most of the time. I got two flats on a ride on the canyon the other weekend, decided to go tubeless for a bit and see how it does. On the front tire, I've got 12 thorn holes and it's still holding air. So far so good. Thing I really don't like about tubeless is burbing out air around the bead in rock gardens. My Beta doesn't suffer the same problem since it uses a tubliss inner tube as a rim lock.. wish mountain bikes had a similar setup. I think in the Tour de France, the team carries whole wheels and just swap a new wheel in. But, I've seen catastrophic bead leaks that cause crashes.. The exprimenting continues!

      @@enablerdave thanks for the info. I just got the bike with 160 hours. Previous owner did the top end but not the bottom. Hoping the top end is still good. Do I have any luck with beta warranty if the bikes at 160 hours? I’m assuming not. Again thanks for the help.

      @@enginepowered3353 You're welcome! The third time my bearings went, the bike had like 230 hours on it. But I'm the original owner. It might still be worth a try contacting Beta.

      @@enablerdave is there a upgraded set of bearings I can get so I don’t need to keep doing this? Or do they just always fail?

    • @enablerdave
      @enablerdave ปีที่แล้ว

      @@enginepowered3353 That's a good question. I just used stock spec bearings. NTN brand if I recall. The last time they went, Beta sent a new crank. I had already replaced everything else including the cases. The last repair has lasted the longest. I measured the old crank and the new. The new crank had slightly smaller journals on the crank. Just a couple of thousandths smaller. But, this last repair has lasted the longest. I also went from running 50:1 oil to 30:1 oil thinking more oil might help them last. I've since cut that back to 40:1.. I also now let the bike idle for 20 minutes after it's been wet, stream crossing or washing. The thinking is maybe moisture had been corroding the bearings. Beta isn't sure what's causing the failures. At least, they've never been able to tell me the cause. I don't think it's a bearing quality issue though. My previous failures had been 60 to 80 hours apart. This last repair has lasted 120 hours so far. The bike has 320 hours on it now. My personal thought is it's a moisture issue. The bearings rust and destroy themselves. Beta trials bikes had a similar problem a long time ago and went weth dual sealed grease packed bearings to remedy the problem. I'm hopeful warming up the bike after every wash will solve it. I honestly don't see how there's been anything wrong with any of the cases or bearings previously. All the measurements have been spot on. I used nitrous oxide to cool the bearings so they just dropped right in. Very careful on assembly.

    Wow I was thinking about getting a 2018 xtrainer that is tagged. Not so sure I want to go with a Beta 2 stroke. Those bearings should last hundreds of hours. Did you get a fix for it? I read somewhere there was a different bearing that will fit.

    • @enablerdave
      @enablerdave ปีที่แล้ว

      The last fix beta provided was a new crank. So far, that seems to have done the trick. I measured the crank journals, the new ones were a couple thousands smaller diameter. I'm guessing the extra "slop" was enough to keep the bearings from binding.

      This happened to my sons 250rr 2017, the oil pump failed. This caused the big end to destroy itself. Last ride 20hours after the rebuild, it’s making noises again. My new x-trainer stripped all it’s teeth off the flywheel and busted the starter bendix in half.! Beta did fix it under warranty. I sold it at a $1500 loss. Back on a WR250f 2020 . Reliability never gets old.

    Very cool! Rush is the dude. Thinking doing it this year on my 701. There are different sections yeah? What level of difficulty was this one? Think a bigger bike would be comfortable on it?

    • @enablerdave
      @enablerdave 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That was a lot of the single track sections all edited together. There were people that did the entire course on big vtwin adventure bikes. It's doable, but some of the rock gardens beat up their skid plates and frames pretty good. I think a 701 would have no problem though. Might even be smoother than doing it on a 250 2t. The biggest bike I did it on was an 07 WR450 and it was pretty plush. The way they had it laid out last year, they had bypasses for the harder sections, so you could opt out if you got in too deep.
