I will bring my mito and tonale ..
This gentleman is good and an Alfa Romeo man …👍🏻
Great man.
My Grande Punto Tjet has snapped in exactly the same place as I am changing my manifold as it is cracked. Only issue for me is my extractor bit has snapped off inside so I need to grind a hole out now :(
Great video once again 👍. Thank you.
@@Paul-pb4wv Have repaired quite a few of these boxes without removing as the selector cross was not assembled properly with different spacer washers needed. And like this gearbox… no care or love went into this original job so the poor sucker who paid for the original job had to fork out an extra £360 ….
This is the problem today. The “mechanics” at dealerships cannot do not want to do diagnostics like this gentlemen. This is how most mechanics use to be, now we have people that can change plugs and oil which I can do myself
I have just found that guy that isn't just a "parts swapping mechanic" and solves problems methodically and efficiently, I m a new sub 😊 I am an electrician who has completely rebuilt a opel vivaro engine on my own, no experience prior. I got a "mechanic " to time the engine as I wasn't confident enough myself, big mistake, with drawings on a PC he timed it wrong and I've wasted €1500 in parts. Very few people out there that deserve to be called a mechanic except for guys like this channel 👍
This is exactly how it's done. Systematic testing of potential failure points. $1 part. Subscribing and liking. Kudos.
Dealership monkeys. They cannot and should not be able to call themselves " technicians " or even " mechanics " as sll they do is throw parts ar the cars hoping it eill fix the problem.
Can a client somehow protect him/herself against dealership's stupidity and carelessness? Is there a real law in EU for this, that says, that you don't have to pay for labor/parts, when dealership's best work is by guessing changing parts and not proper fault finding using logic and diagnostics (read: skills)? It seems that these days, dealerships are staffed by mechanics who are only part swappers.
Even the pictures are oldschool B/W from analogue 📸
Dear Sir As an Alfa collector,I salute and respect you and your professional atitude.
@@andyshaylovsky3566 Thank u for your kind post. you get out what u put in. we are busy most of the time… and I don’t spend money on advertising, and I get cars for repairs from all over the country and a few from Europe to fix as well. Drive safe, stay well. regards Eddy
Wonderful tech! This man knows his stuff!!! Multiair is actually very reliable. But needs some TLC. And this man figures it out. I have such a great mechanic in the Netherlands too. (Homan Bedum). Mechanics like this are worth their weight in gold. Dealerships only want to sell cars (the majority), and many brands dont back their customers up with service or good quality anymore either. So great mechanics become even more important.
@@pwsonline MULTI-AIR IS NOT RELIABLE… WHY… ITS BECAUSE YOU ARE RELYING ON AGENTS DOING THERE JOB PROPERLY…AND WE ALL UNDERSTAND THEY DONT…. MARK UP YOUR OIL FILTER TO SEE IF THE GARAGE CHANGES THE OIL FILTER. POOR QUALITY FUEL…. WRONG OIL USED…. AND WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD PURCHASE A CAR THAT DOES NOT HAVE A DIP STICK ….. MULTI-AIR PRODUCES A FANTASTIC AMOUNT OF POWER, AND WITH DIRECT INJECTION PRODUCES EXTRA POWER BECAUSE IT ENABLES THE INJECTORS TO SPRAY EXTRA FUEL INTO THE BALL OF FLAME TO PROLONG FLAME ENDURANCE… BUT… BUT…. THERE IS A BIG DOWNSIDE. CARBON BUILD UP INSIDE THE VALVE CHAMBERS , ON THE VALVE STEMS STOPPING THE SMOOTH OPERATION OF METAL PARTS AND AIR FLOW. IF YOU WANT TO CLEAN OUT THE CARBON BUILD UP YOU HAVE TO STRIP THE ENGINE….. OR INJECT HYDROGEN INTO THE ENGINE AIR FLOW AND THAT LOOSENS THE CARBON BUILD UP. I RUN A WORKSHOP WHICH HAS A HYDROGEN GENERATOR …USED IT OVER 1400 TIMES AND HAD NO COMPLAINTS FROM ANY CUSTOMER. CALL ANY TIME EDDY AT ALFAMAN IN RAYNERS LANE. HARROW
Reminds me of my old man thanks
Sir you are my man till I'll drive. We just discover a treasure. Dealer made not only a robbery but he also "rape" the client. Dealer is disgusting
There is the problem with "good" mechanics at dealer not only in England, in Polen too. Only thinking person can be fit for that work. For exchangers thank you.
More videos about this 2 ! Very interesting
Thanks for inspiring mechanics to think and be honest.
The thing that bugs me most with this 2.0 TBI engine is that it lacks an oil dipstick! The good thing is that it fully supports LPG (both Polish and Turkish LPG kits exist and work flawlessly) and it is very tuning friendly (if you know what to do with the Multiair system).
@@xynostasos9022 WHO IN THERE RIGHT MIND WOULD BUY A PETROL OR DIESEL CAR WITHOUT A DIP STICK…. ONLY A DIP STICK. WHEN THE ELECTRIC OIL LEVAL SYSTEM GOES WRONG …AND IT DOES…. YOU ARE BUGGERED…. LEFT HIGH AND SIZED UP, SCREWED UP…. ADRIFT OF £5000 FOR A REPLACEMENT ENGINE. THE MAKERS ARE LAUGHING AT YOU….WHO WOULD PERCHANCE A CAR WITH OUT PROPER SECURITY……. LOADS OF STUPID BUYERS. …. THE MAKERS ARE LAUGHING AT YOU…… I CANT INSURE A RANGE ROVER IN MY CARE AFTER I LOCK UP…… WHY ? COS U CANT STOP THEIFS STEALING THIS MAKE. THE MAKERS ARE LITERALLY LAUGHING AT THE OWNERS….. CAR IS STOLEN …INSURANCE PAYS OUT ….OWNERS GO GET A NEW RANGE ROVER. GREAT FOR SALES…. WOT A LAUGH…
@@AlfamanGarageServices Couldn't agree more. Many manufacturers nowadays think that their customers are completely idiots.
I know that I am well off, but honestly not a single soul to ask and get a meaningful answer... Are the 2.2 diesel engines any good? Since I was a child my father always loved and owned a diesel because he loved the ticking sound and fuel efficiency, so I continued down this road and since my first car I always had a diesel. It is a shame to look at a diesel Alfa, I know, but somehow this petrol ones don't work for me somehow...
No one does basic troubleshooting/diagnosis anymore. A few years back I was 1200 miles from home visiting a friend when my 2019 MB C300 coupe started to have a horrible misfire, mainly while under load. It was under warranty, but neither dealership in the area had service openings for almost 2 weeks. Thankfully both my friend and I are pretty mechanically inclined, and we were able to troubleshoot the issue. It ended up being a single plug with a cracked insulator. $50 US in new plugs and 2 days later the car was back on the road, purring like a kitten.
@@Richard-HiFiMan Well done u…. so u did not remove trousers and underpants and lean over a barrel ….. Things I have seen from dealers and other garages make me cross…. give your customers help, they remain customers and recommend other people…. it’s simple ….I don’t spend money on advertising…..
Well, the dealership will always try to replace anything that might be broken and won't go into details. I had problems with the lock on the steering wheel and the dealership wanted to change the lock, as a result also the lock on the door, new keys and reprogramming, price around €1,500. I went to a locksmith someone recommended and he fixed the lock for €120.
the Multiair. it happens with all the multiair engines.
This is why alfa romeo cars are unfairly labelled as money pits, crap dealerships and crap mechanics well thats not really fair its workshop bonus schemes that are behind 95% of the problems the poor mechanics have to rush every job rarther than concentrate on doing a proper professional job for the customer!. Dealerships are only interested in money fuck the customer!!.
Stealerships are there to make money, Independent car mechanics are there to fix cars.
I wish every shop and every mechanic would just care about vehicles and engines half as much as he does!
One spray can would have done that lol and it goes on better with a can
No problems with my Stelvio. Like most owners. Unlike my Audi.
Dealership plugs a diagnostic tool in and that tells them what to do…. Diagnostics can be useful but you also need to understand mechanics of a system and employ effective fault finding techniques. The best part of this is the dealership still don’t know what caused the fault so don’t have that knowledge for the next one that limps in. But I know a man that does 😁👍
this is true mechanic
I always buy parts by sorting them by price - highest first.
This is how not to do it..
It is Alfa Romeo so they look good but is very unreliable and it shows by low sales numbers.
Not true--my 2018 Giulia Ti is running amazing at 51,000 miles. Keep it maintained and you'll avoid most problems!
@@leifandersen2756 The Alfas are reliable … It’s the thieving swine that run the dealerships that are unreliable. No quality control in workshops, to make staff do the work properly.
Great work!
Beautiful!!!❤
I want to know why they couldn't check the injectors on an oscilloscope? Saves removing them. Interesting video.
@@andrewlace They don’t have one, if the computer says it’s no.4 cly. misfire … let’s just jump to conclusions…. to change over two injectors takes 20 mins on this model… the agent charged 2 or 3 hours. when I get an engine with GDI injectors… and it’s high mileage I know one will be faulty… not enough flow on one cly…or too much. in the last month …had a 1750 cc engine with one injector over fuelling, and 2 x. 2200cc engines with one injector under fuelling … I think it’s down to rubbish petrol…. and bad fuel filtering .
Great work! You are a good mechanic.. a very rare figure in these days!
Love this guy, takes no shit! Difference between a proper mechanic and a parts fitter so commonly found in dealerships.
As a dealer you should know that the multiair could be the problem. the multiairs in the guilietta ... also had a lot of problems with the multiairs
thanks for comment, multiairs run on clean oil pressure… did oil change on Brera 2200 to day. Always been dealer serviced. Customer fed up with his dealers prices, Tough to open oil filter, and the gunge we found in the oil filter..which has never been changed,if this was a multiair ,the multiair unit would have been destroyed…. lucky it was a GM ENGINE. Eddy
Interesting that the multiair unit is repairable - here, in Australia, they just swap out the whole unit at any signs of a fault.
Not only alfa but absolutely every car manufacturer nowadays uses the cheapest of the cheapest cheap plastic in the engines. And every new generation of a golf or civic they charge you 5k more.
Had a 2020 Stelvio as a company car. Had problems with cold start misfires and one too occations had to drive 100km before a restart woke the last cylinder. Dealer would not diagnose the car if I couldn’t bring it to them with the car missing while there since the claimed that it is impossible to retrieve history codes from an Alfa. Complained to the leasing company who owned the car they said, no problem to drive the car with the misfire and that if I took it to the dealer and they could not find the problem whitin 2 hours my employer would be billed for the failed diagnostic. After that I concluded that I would never on an Alfa of my own since the dealer in my area are so incompetent.
@@nilsutt As iv posted before,it’s the dealer who’s unreliable, not the Alfa.. All major car makers now own their own service centres . why ? it’s to cut out all the rubbish dealerships and control Eddt
@@nilsutt The Alfa dealer network has always been rubbish. So has every dealer network until the manufacturer started to run and own the dealer network them selfs.
This is how I aspire to be when I'm your age. Your last minute of the video sums up all my dealer frustrations perfectly. You've gained a new sub!!
THX for that info
Cant wait to see the next video. Hopefully this gets the beast back on the road. Would love to see a step-by-step of the MultiAir removal process. I may have the same problem happening right now.
Same here--would love an in-depth video on the Multi-air R & R--
Why 10W60? This engine uses 5W40.
ITS JUST AN UPGRADE ... I WANT BETTER LUB. FOR THE TOP END OF THE ENGINE. THANK U FOR YOUR INTELLIGENT QUESTION. REGARDS EDDY
Very good video! I wish we have such knowledgeable Alfa specialist here in Serbia. I have a 159 with the same engine. I have cleand the intake vavles myself. They where maybe three times less bad that these ones. The engine had about 180.000 km on it when I did it. I am changing the oil every 5-6.000 km (the previous owner/comoany did it at 20.000), and I am using only 100 RON premium petrol. And I have used the injector cleaned aditive once. They are very hard to come by. I had to order them from Germany. I tried it again recenty, but they are unable to ship them here now, for some reason.
old school merc wow take note dealers real alfa expert not kids with no history or skill
An honest and intelligent MECHANIC,....not a parts swapper....
One thing, I learned from this video, thank you Sir! 👌🏻
