Alfred Schnittke. Five Preludes and Fugue

When I was 5 years old, I played a piece written by Schnittke called "Naigrish," and I loved it. Later, when I was 9 years old, I listened to his Concerto Grosso No. 1 for the first time, and I couldn't breathe. It was such an emotional distress and a strong impression that I still remember how it felt. Now, having discovered that this piece is so rarely played, I was surprised because I person...

Composed by Polina Nazaykinskaya. Played by Anastasia Calmus. Filmed by Lisa Reinhard. I extend special thanks to Shigeru Kawai for providing the instrument. "Emily Suite" is based on the longer ballet "Emily", which premiered April 28, 2023 in New York City at the Gerald Lynch Theatre by MorDance, a female-led company. It is inspired by the poetry of Emily Dickinson and the work of other femal...

Beautiful.
Thank you 😊
Listening to this, I feel like pedaling shouldn't be as restrained, as it often must be when performing in larger echoing spaces. I think it would help to tie the flow better. On the other hand, it makes it sound very clear and helps to bring forth the voices, and I don't know which is better. Also, I feel like the tempo variation should be less, as it hinders the constant forward pace this piece is built upon. I very much enjoyed this interpretation, thank you for sharing this
@jamesdong8179 thank you for nice and interesting comment! Actually there was very dry space and very soft piano, maybe also microphones and editing video works made it more clear. I think if I play on another piano effect would be different😊
@@anastasiacalmus It didn't feel very soft to me, perhaps on account of Your heavier hand, which is very appropriate for this piece. I am looking forward to hearing your interpretation on an instrument more appropriate for your style and preference
@jamesdong8179 I love this instrument too, just on other it will be different. I will think about it to record more versions and different instruments 😊 thank you.
Charming! Thank you, dear Anastasia!

What a talented transcription! This is not a transcription, but a superb improvisation on the theme of Rachmaninov's "Italian Polka", performed brilliantly and masterfully! Bravo Anastasia!
A delightful performance of a beautiful arrangement by Tchaikovsky! Bravo! I bow to you.
Thank you very much! 😊

Bravo Anastasia,I learn at the moment several of them and practice regularly…They are very very virtousic peaces of music.Your tone is very very good…
@@nikolaacimovic8854 thank you! Yes, they are very hard pieces, even sounds light😄
That is the key of Scarlatti’s art,to sound light, but…You know I begin myself with the tone…When I have a „tone“,everything technical goes naturaly with…I can only say congratulations, your tone is defined but noth heavy, and you know how with the wristjoint…Very nice..

What a powerful connection to Schnittke's music! It's amazing how certain pieces can leave such a lasting impression. I’m sure your passion for it will resonate with others as well. 🎶
