I am a hobbyist woodworker out of central NC. I primarily do wood turning on my JET 1224 lathe. I have been doing this for about 5 years, so I am by no means a professional, but stop by and lets have fun! Feel free to comment, like, or share.
Woodturning - 5 Year Anniversary Gift
Oct 19th was my wife and I 5 year anniversary. With traditional anniversary gift the 5 year is the wood anniversary so i had to go all out!! I reimagined in this project the day I proposed to my bride. We got engaged at Cold Storage Beach in Dennis, on Cape Cod. We got married in 2019 and i began wood turning in 2020. ever since I began woodturning i have this idea. i hope you guys enjoy this video, Thanks!

That is so very cool and imaginative!! Well done!!
Thank you very much!
Put a little beeswax on the forstner bit and it won’t burn like that.
Thanks for that tip I will have to try that out
Was that a metal hammer you were using to mark the center?
How are you going to hollow out the head later on, with a jig or something?
Great question but The head is not hollowed out. I'll have to try that out tho
Awesome work!!
😘

Great video!
Very imaginative!! Great job!! Love your texturing ideas!!
Pretty cool 😎
🔥🔥🔥
What’s the finish? And did you use a tissue paper to apply it?
Tried and true finish. I just used a paper towel
Not sure if this is what you did or not but a great way to have two pieces match up is to cut them one on top of the other, the cut will be identical between them.
That is exactly what I did, camera battery died trying to film it unfortunately. I took the maple and used double sided tape and put it on top of the walnut then cut them at the same time!
Really nice .
Pretty cool ❤
Looks great!
As soon as I noticed the NOFX patch on your apron, you earned my subscription. You've got punk bands on yours and I've got sludge and metal bands on mine. It's nice to see someone of my ilk who also has the passion.
I Have several punk vests but only one punk shop apron 🤘
Lovely work as always. I especially like the finial. Thanks for sharing.

Very interesting process and a most impressive result. I like the green dye - I may have missed this but what was the name of the product used to colour the vase? Thanks for sharing, very enjoyable.
