Awesome! Starting up hat making, ( self taught) is the height of the hatliner 4"? Width is the circumference of the hat block?
When cutring from fabric
Hi Ciara, Yes height of hatliner is around 4''. We always check that the lining is halfway below the sweatband. To be honest we can't remember the circumference of the hat block we used in this video. Best Regards, Oxblood Team
Thank you very much.
Hi there, in this movie it was only soacked in hot water.
HOW MUCH ?
Hi there, this custom hat is around USD 450. You can check our website with the online shop for more hats. Best Regards, Oxblood Team
Awesome craftsmanship, I’ve always loved seeing how hatters go about their trade. Was the water you submerged the hat in at the beginning hot or at least somewhat warm? I saw another video where the water they used was so hot that the hat body came out steaming!
Thank you. Yes exactly, the hotter the water the easier it gets to work with the felt.
Great! I know I might probably be asking for too much but I just have to ask Please it is possible to get the list of equipment for this felt hat Or/and a place I can order them Please I am from Nigeria
Dear Felicitas, you can find most tools by Guy Morse in England. Best regards, Oxblod Team
Hey what thread thickness/type did you use for handsewing the sweatband ?
Hi Ramzie, we use a very thick one, it's much easier to stick through the felt.
@ Thanks a lot! Something like 1mm I'm guessing ?
@@ramziblue1594Yes, that's correct.
Hi Sinobre, that's not a problem, as the felt can only be shaped with hot steam and water doesn't harm the felt.
I really like how you did the sweatband. Just a nice leather strip with holes and a thick thread. That way you can sew the leather directly onto the felt, nice one!
Thank you 🙂
How can I buy this hat, do you have international service?
Hi there, thanks a lot for your interest. Please check out our website or our online shop. You can also send an email to us then we can make a custom hat for you. Best regards, Oxblood Team

Nice video! Do you use any kind of felt stiffener on your hats or do they hold shape without it?
Hi Apostolos usually we buy quite stiff felts and if they are not stiff enough for our need we then add some shellac stiffener. Best regards, Oxblood Team
@ Thanks for the reply!

At leaast you aren't,"mad as a hatter." Early days they used mercury to treat the fur used in making felt hats in confined spaces and they would develope, "Hatter's Disease" from the mercury. It was mercury poisoning. I enjoyed the video!
Interesting. Still a bit mad even without mercury ;-)
Interesting that you didn’t use any stiffener.
Yes this felt was already prestiffed by the felter. @@roxysimmons
@@user-et4hi3sr8o Hi there, the best is to use hot steam to get a felt hat back in shape. If you don't have a steamer you can help yourself by boiling water and hold the hat into the steam.
Exactamente work awesome .I have a heart that my father gave me it was a present but it's all mist up i wold love to get it fixed do you also do that tipe of work I can imagine you do
Dear Leon, thanks for your interest. Yes, sure we also refurbish older hats. You can visit us in our shop in Zurich.
Bang ada obat untuk pengerasan topinya
Quite interesting 👍
Thanks 🙂
Obat untuk supaya keras apa om
🙏🙌👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🇧🇷🏆🎇👊🤠😘❤️
Are your capelines prestiffened before you soak them in water?
Hi there, yes most capelines are prestiffened directly from the feltmaker.
Is this one for sale?
Dear Daddy, sure. All our hats are for sale. They are all unique but we can always redo them. If you are interested please send us an email. Best regards Oxblood Team
Simply amazing
How do you cut the brim to size after flanging it? The video jumped from it being curled to flat and I was wondering if those are two different hats?
Dear Parker, in the video you see the making of two different hats. One with a flat brim and one with an upturn brim. To cut the brim you need a rounding jack. You see the tool in the video after Min 2:08.
what is sprayed on the hat when he does the burning part? loved the video!
Dear Tony, the best results we get with pure alcohol.
Hi, great job🎉 is it pure ethyl alcohol or cologne sold in the market?

Thanks you James, we welcome you in our shop anytme for a new hat.
I love it❤
Thanks you 🙂
This is amazing 😲😍. A spectacular process of art.!
Dear Esther, thanks a lot for your compliment.
If the hat is not a special order how do you figure the size? Do you make the sweatband and make the hat to fit it out vice a versa?
Dear Helen, we have a lot of different wooden hat blocks from size 54 cm up to size 65 cm, we fit the sweatband then to the size of the shaped felt.
So thorough. Beautiful!
Thanks you Andrea. Have a nice day.
Looks great, is it 100% beaver? It looks very soft, and I didn't see you pounce the felt! Like the way you soaked it in water to make it more stretchable .
Dear Javier, thanks. The felt in the movie is a beaver/rabbit blend and certain pouncing was already done by the felter.
Good work..and love the music too
Thank you for the flowers ;-)
Nice! Thx
Great video. My wife is a milliner and she loved it too
Dear Peter, thanks a lot. Greetings to your wife ;-)
Some great tips thanks for your excellent video
Thanks you Todd
Great, learning this again. Bono's Hatters Bloomington Illinois in the past first., Thanks
Hi, thank you for such a great video! When you burn off the fibres, do you apply an alcohol based solution?
Hi ALIA, yes you can spray an alcohol based solution. The less water in it the better it burns. Best Regards, Oxblood Team
Yeahhh, the music sucks, but beautiful hats.
