OSHA has extended its enforcement program for metal fabricators in TX, LA, OK, NM and AR until 2027, and is already issuing fines that are adding up to the $10s and in some cases, $100s of thousands of dollars.
The enforcement program is called FABMETSH and was actually started back in 2016, due to the extremely dangerous health and safety hazards associated with the metal and steel fabrication process and resulting high injury rates in the industry.
The program was just renewed again in July 2024 and will continue until 2027. Since the start of the program, fines have increased by 70%!
The risk of getting inspected won't go away any time soon, so getting and staying compliant is now a top priority to avoid these penalties.
