I am a busy working mom. When I do get out to the courts to play, I plan my group ahead of time for a certain anount of time that I have to play. If we've been on a court for multiple games, there's open courts, and someone is waiting to play, we are not breaking up our game to let them in.

As someone who played juniors, college, and lower professional levels of tennis, I keep trying to tell pickleball people at the facility where I work that the line rule is simple, if you don't absolutely, positively, see the ball out, it must be considered good and you award the point to your opponent. But they insist on asking their opponent, or their partner, whether they thought the ball was in/out. That's really "cheating", putting pressure on someone to maybe give you the point. "I thought it was out/in" is just as bad. I don't understand why this is so hard to get across.

I’ve played competitive tennis doubles for decades. It is common courtesy to at least raised your hand. It is saying you aren’t there for cheap points and you expect to play competitively. No good player aims for the net tape to flip one over. So, when you get one it is a lucky shot since it can go either way.

One thing you could have mentioned in the ‘balls called out’ section is to respect the ‘out’ call made by your opponent. Too many players get angry because they see the ball’s contact point from a poor vantage point, and to them it looks in, but to the receiver standing a few feet away, who has the benefit of being not only closer to the ball, but also on the same side of the ball as the tape and can clearly see the gap between the tape and the ball, the call is correct, not a guess. I am so sick and tired of playing with these arrogant men who never accept that their ball is out! Everyone needs to practise good sportsmanship, especially when you have faulted, made an error, or lost the game.

Just started playing. First experience was a bunch of really nice older people. Everyone rotated on teams and wanted to get at least one game with others and it wasn't personal to bring up having played with one person the whole time so far. The only negative I had was at a class when someone who was already taking it way too seriously was acting obnoxious to some guy who apparently had no racquet sports history. Overall, I am just going to stick to the older people who are there to play, but not take any of it seriously.

It’s like Martial Arts,When I train with the Dan grades they give me very little latitude,we both go full on but do not hurt each other. When we train with beginners we tone it down ,we go slower and with far less force. There’s nothing cool about beating up people less capable than yourself and it’s satisfying helping them to progress. Going too hard just drives the beginners away and gives you a reputation as a total dick.

I started playing a month ago and only play about once a week. People really don’t like playing with beginners in the parks. I have been skipped for hours at a time, because no one wants a beginner on the court. I have to go to an indoor park and only play with beginners.

I play both tennis and pickleball and the biggest difference I see is on line calls. In pickleball, players who are not well situated to see how the ball has landed have no problem calling a ball out. The times are many I'll been looking straight down the line to watch a ball hit on the line to have an opponent on the far side of the court just call it out. This needs to change. Everyone can make a mistake, but what's the best way to handle these situations when they happen over and over in a game? How do you politely tell your opponent to knock it off? Tennis is the opposite. If you didn't have a good angle to read the bounce you can ask your opponent. Players are expected to answer truthfully. If it's "too close to call" you always call to your opponent's advantage. This just doesn't seem to be happening in pickleball.

Believe or not some groups ask the player who had the best view what he saw. I call balls out on myself as I will not take a point unless I earned it out right. Don’t be afraid to speak out. Your not playing in a tournament you are playing socially

The most common issue I encounter is people staying on a court when others are waiting. I often hear them say “we just got here” because they assume it’s like tennis where you have the court for an hour.

Gotta say: I despise when the players on the next court use non-stop obscenities! I didn't go there to listen to their adolescent vocabulary, and it makes me feel like leaving. I'm glad it was mentioned as etiquette in this video, I just wish those people would watch.
