Hey You Tube fans lets start off by introducing myself, my name is Nick Cook and I have a passion about dirtbikes. My main goal with my channel is to inform you of how work on dirtbikes, have product reviews and bike build series. So if you want to learn how to work on dirtbikes and see bikes being built this is the channel you would want to subscribe to. I want to share the love of dirtbikes to everyone wether you are a racer, trail rider, weekend warrior or love working on dirtbikes. So lets get into the dirtbikes right now!
Brand new 2024 Yamaha YZ 250 X
Hey how is everyone doing. Its been way to long since a video dropped. Well I happened to get a brand new dirtbike, as you can tell from the title its a 2024 YZ 250 X. This is the first brand new bike that i bought since my new 2000 YZ 125. I am exciting to ride this bike and see what a new bike feels like again. This video is just clips showing off the bike. The next episode is going to show the first things i would add to the YZ 250 X to protect it on the trails as well as a few maintenance tasks as well before a new bike hits the dirt for the first time. Here is a quick tip on how to remove the nut on your shock shaft it it has never been rebuilt. in this example this shock is off a 1988 RM 125 that I am rebuilding for my entry into the Broke to Built contest

I just got a handmedown bike just like that it’s a 1979 model and me and my dad are going to restore it together. But the one thing I don’t have is patience. I would love to just hop on and ride but my 15year old choices gets me or makes things worse, any ideas what I should do?
Nice job but 1979/1980 models have black hubs and engine from factory. I still have the original sales brochure. And a black 1980 model was my first big bike when I was a kid.

Looks great! Son and I are restoring an 81 MX175. Engines about done and now we’re off to chassis work. What did you do with the frame and other steel parts? Looks like you shot it in epoxy before paint?

I’m working on a 1978 dt125 and I can’t get the shock separated from the swing arm to powdercoat it do you know if it’s possible? It seems to be perfectly fixed
I'm wondering if the shock has some rust on and is wedging it against the swingarm . Maybe add some heat to and hit it with a rubber mallet

Well the whole assembly really. Just hmu if you need any of it still. I happened to have extra shit and my rm is running now so I don't really need it anymore. No charge...I'm not a scammer...lol.

Thanks for the video man. There are NO DOUBT SCAMMERS EVERYWHERE. I got scammed myself through facebook. NEVER trust facebook sellers unless you can meet face to face.
What is crazy about the carb though is that I found out that carb is for a 250 ltr 1985. Apparently it is a rare carb and a performance shop that specializes in in those old 2 stroke quads told me it has the stock needle that is super hard to find so I'm going to vapor blast the carb and zinc plate the hardware hardware and sale it for a profit. Oh and a rebuilt kit of course

What year is your mx 175. My brother had a 1980 and only paid 50 bucks for and it only needed a cdi which it was only 25 and it fired first kick almost everytime.
I just looked on All Balls bearing website under a 1980 mx 175 and they are showing them that they have them

I bought this exact bike new in 1978. I was 16 years old at the time. I held on to this bike until May 1983. I traded it in on a Kawasaki 440 LTD. Fun times looking back.
Those bike are pretty much indestructible. I bet you wish you still had it though. I have a 2000 YZ 125 I bought new and is the only new I bike I have own and still have it till this day. My other 3 bikes are used. I don't need another new one to have fun.
@@nicks2wheelchannel920 Hey Nick, I just wanted to reply back to you, because you may be able to educate me on something. To be honest, when I traded my Yamaha Enduro 175 in for the Kawasaki it was because I was having too many problems from the Yamaha. On my bike, while it was under warranty and not, I burned a hole in the piston three times, this under 1,000 miles. It was repaired the first time, under warranty. The second time a few months after my warranty ended, it occurred again, and they repaired for no labor cost, just parts. Then, a third time it occurs, I had to pay labor and parts. After this third piston repair, I let the bike set (repaired) in my dad's garage. Soon after this, as a young 20-year-old, I joined the U.S. Air Force. After several months, my dad asked me to do something with the bike because he needed the room. I was stationed in Texas at the time and drove home to Arkansas to retrieve the bike. I had been looking at a new 1983 Honda Interceptor. I always loved the look of that bike, but as a young Airman at the time, I didn't have the money. So, I returned to Texas with the bike and traded for the Kawasaki. Have you ever heard of such piston issues with this model bike or was mine just a lemon?
I'm wondering if the injection pump for the oil failed. It sounding like the bike ran to hot or lean causing it to do that

I got It cleaned up pretty good . I'm going to have a video about how I cleaned it up as well as some other small details I did to the bike so far
Just about to do this on my 2004 450 exc... Be the first time the gaskets been replaced I think so bet the old gaskets gonna be a real mess. Hoping this fixes my problem the bike revs through fine but when you're in higher gear at low rpm you try get on the throttle and it's really hesitant, doesn't want to go and I've tried all different jets and clip positions. Played with the mixture screw and that made it a lot better but then my o ring ripped, put a new mixture screw and o ring in and not got it to run as good as that again so hopefully this gaskets my problem 🤞🏻 thanks for the vid bro, really helpful

Man I can't wait to see the end result. I got to say....yours looks better than the 92 I picked up. She was thrashed. The owner said "it only needs a piston"...lol.
They all say that and may even throw in the famous .... just needs the carb cleaned!

@@nicks2wheelchannel920 that’s one thing I’ve always lucked out on, on buying Suzukis I’ve never had one that had bad internals yet. I also cheat and take my motor in if it needs anything other than a top end. Bottom end work goes to my mechanic Tim. He LOVES my Suzukis
Yeah she's crusty. But ,with alot of labor an parts it will turn out nice..iconic dirtbike for sure and worth saving. I did the same with an 84'.

I think the tool is for original bolt removal on some fcr carbs because it has the hole like security screws
Was gonna say the same. Can't rebuild it if you don't have the tool to remove the factory safety torx screws🤷♂️ at least maintenance with new Allen heads should be easier for anyone👊✌️
