I have hundreds of unknown branded yarn. I keep watching video and hoping someone will be aware enough to show how to calculate that yarn. When the ball band is present, no biggie.

I taught myself to crochet a little over a year ago with a kit from The Woobles, and lots of TH-cam videos/channels, but now I’m attempting continental knitting and I keep finding it all ends up too tight… interesting to learn there’s a reason beyond my inexperience for this phenomenon…

To my understanding, you inserted hook in 2nd chain from hook, as not supposed to count loop on hook as one.

You're the 1st one to say about those 2 stitches and how not to go into them. Even in the books they don't say about that. Too late for me now. After many screams and tears and knitting needles stuck in walls, I figured it out for myself. I couldn't understand why there were more and more stitches on my needles after casting on! Still Lesson for teachers of knitting?! Thankyou for your slow and thorough guidance!😊

I LOVE this method for DC! I always hated the gaps DC made. Thank you so much! This video was really easy to follow. I'm curious to know if doing one row of gapless DC is faster than doing 2 rows of SC? I may have to time it and try.

Thank you for making this simple enough I think I can do it. I have only read one pattern before and done a few video patterns so I am still a newbie but I think this was explained well enough that even me a lefty can follow it. I am not against the holey look of the regular stitches but this neat and tidy look is the reason I got into it along with how calming it has turned out to be. Thank you so much.

How do you keep the hook from catching on the last thread of loose yarn? I find that I have to keep the tension on loose yarn especially tight in order not to catch on the last thread on the yarn. But it happens a lot.

Frustrating...that you're talking so much! Like nearly a minute between stitches. IMO, there's such a thing as too slow!

also if you combine the idea of a hook under and yarn over it's even faster too

Thanks so much! I am a crocheter. I prefer to hold the working yarn in my left hand. (Feels very awkward to knit English style - little to no control). I wanted to knit using the same hand as I use with crochet. (Left). So happy to find that I wasn’t doing it wrong!

I am also a lifetime crocheter but do continental knitting. My style is different to any of yours as I don't stick my index finger out like you do. Mine is closer to the needle, slightly curved and relaxed. I knit the same way but purl the Russian way. So much more comfortable and easier.
