By this I mean if you hold them on the lower bars I believe there is less control. I am sure when hands are on top and with less pressure there is more control?

Heck - that floor looks slippery - I always roller in on a yoga mat - grip and keeps any noise down .. ps. you look very stretched out on that bike - need a shorter stem

Yep, knots reduce the ultimate strength of any line, this method does not.

The line in this vid is stiff as. This is impossible with softer braided line. Easier to get Kenworth up a rabbit hole.
