    Did you try to paint on completely clear plastic baubles? I keep trying but no good results. I need white background for decoupage with napkins, any advice is more than welcome. Btw thank you for your video, your baubles are beautiful 😊

      @@agiagata945 I don’t usually use plastic for these, but if I did I would definitely prime them with a white gesso first. I have also used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint very successfully. I find matte paint works much better. Thanks for your comment and keep creating!!! Janet xx

    I need your advice. I painted a small wooden box with chalk paint and then I used a 2 Part Fine Line Crackle Va🎉rnish on the outside of the box and on top of the lid but on the inside, which I also painted with chalk paint, I applied clear wax to the paint, which I haven't buffed yet. I applied the wax yesterday, but I'm not sure how to buff it. Should I buy one of those oval brushes - like the one you used in this video - and use that to buff the wax? I know my question isn't about waxing furniture but, if you could give me any advice at all, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you so much. From Amanda Jones in Melbourne, Australia

    • @StudioJanet
      @StudioJanet ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there Amanda! To buff your wax all you need is a lint free cloth or a paper towel that is more like a shop towel. With a light touch, just start gently wiping your waxed surface. Light pressure, your arm should not hurt when you buff. If it does, you are working too hard😉 Let the rag/towel do the work. You may feel the wax tugging and resisting at first, but as you buff you should notice the cloth begin to slide more along the surface. If you never feel that nice glide and it seems tacky after buffing, that usually mean you have too much wax on the surface. If that happens, no worries, it’s an easy fix. Contrary to what would make sense, to reduce the wax on your surface simply apply a little more wax. I know it sounds crazy, but what happens is the fresh wax reactivates the older wax and it softens it. Now with the softened wax you can easily wipe away the excess. I know I just gave you a lot of information, I hope I didn’t complicate things or confuse you. If so let me know and I’ll try to break it down or answer any other questions. Happy buffing and thanks for visiting my channel💗 Janet xx

    WARNING: I ruined my chalk paint project and you could too. I painted my furniture with Annie Sloan old white and it looked amazing! Then I added the Annie Sloan old wax clear as instructed by all the videos and I have wet looking blotchy streaks everywhere! Now I feel bitter because I wasted my energy and time with a ruined project. It has to be stated that these TH-camrs teaching you these techniques and even Annie Sloan herself are professionals. Compare your Do it yourself table to theirs and you will be blown away. Applying wax is a skill and it’s not for everyone. I hate to bring so much negativity to such a positive community but this really isn’t for everyone. Test yourself. Buy a boring block of wood from Home Depot and apply 2 coats of Chalk paint and Top coat clear wax and if your results doesn’t come out good then this is not for you nor is any painting project that requires a top coat. Your better off painting a wall.

    Hi Janet, I love your video. I'd like to use some of the products I already have on hand. So can you please tell me if Liquitex Pouring Medium is an extender? Also, for the finish, I have Minwax Water Based Polycrylic Protective Finish, DecoArt Triple Thick Brilliant Brush-on Gloss Glaze and Judikins Diamond Glaze. Is one of these a good alternative to seal the paint images as the final step? Thank you

    • @StudioJanet
      @StudioJanet 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Roseanne.......Thanks so much for watching my video. I researched your poring medium and I am not sure if they are interchangeable. The pouring med. looks like it makes your paint more fluid as opposed to an extender, which just gives you a longer open time with your paint. It dries slower. You can always try just a touch of it. The extender is not absolutely needed, try it without. The Minwax polyacrylic finish should be fine as a final sealer. Be sure to let your paint dry completely. Have fun! Janet xx

      Kelly Acker For this project are used artist grade acrylics like Amsterdam or Liquitex . Having said that if craft paint is all you have, that will work also. They are just not as highly pigmented as artists grade. As for brushes, I use lots of different brands. Some of my favorite that I’ve had for many years were purchased online at Artist Club, their Papillon brand. Round brushes are my favorites. Thanks so much for watching..Janet x
