Hi!! I would say our ceremony lasted maybe 10-15 minutes. Since it was just us and we didn’t write our own vows there wasn’t a ton to say and it went pretty quick. I feel like most of the time was actually spent taking pictures! If we would have purchased more time with the photographer I think we would have ran out of poses. Since it was just us (no bridesmaids, groomsmen, family, etc.) there were only so many poses/pictures to take. I felt we got tons of pictures (more than the number they advertised on the package, I believe). I would recommend having a list of poses you’d like to do (if you are wanting certain ones) because we just went with the flow and I forgot to have him snap one of us in a pose I wanted.

Didn’t feel rushed at all! Towards the end of the hour I feel like we were all kinda looking at each other like, “Welp. I think we can wrap this up.” 🤪😂

Did you solemnize then hire a witness

We didn’t bring any witnesses, we just had our photographer sign as a witness! I double checked again and it says in CA you only need one witness but you can have 2 if you’d like. You can also choose to do a “confidential” marriage license instead where you don’t have to have any witnesses. I don’t know as much about it since we didn’t do it but I think you have to have been living with your partner for a certain amount of time before you get married in order to do that one (although I’m not sure how they’d fact check you on that 🤔).

I don’t think I’ll go confidential , So I would only one witness or two? I’ll definitely ask the photographer too. I would just want it to be us. Sounds so intimate and simple. Just what we need

@@shanelletsosie7288 I think I asked my officiant how to go about the witness situation when we were emailing back and forth and she said the photographer would be happy to do it (I think any photographer would be glad to sign for you). So you should be good to go if your photographer doesn’t mind to sign :) I think they leave 2 spaces for witnesses on the license in case you want two witnesses, but you’re only required to have one in CA. I cannot say enough great things about Simply Eloped! I just went back and read my emails between my officiant and I and she was so, so helpful and kind. They even sent an itinerary with everyone’s phone numbers, ceremony location information, times, etc. so we were all on the same page (Simply Eloped doesn’t pay me to say any of this - I just love their services that much! I WISH they paid me to say these things 🤪😂).

I completely agree! Big weddings seem to become more about everyone else than the couple. From feeding the guests to wedding favors and everything in between - it all just seems like too much. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Thank you!! I use Wondershare Filmora. I bought the premium version so it wouldn’t have the watermark on the bottom of the videos. I think it was around $70-$80 for a lifetime subscription! I also use Canva for a few things like thumbnails, graphics, etc.

I decided to keep that part private as rings can vary in price range depending on the cut, clarity, and type of stone. I remember when we picked out my engagement ring they showed us a few different options in the same cut but they varied in clarity and the price difference was pretty significant for not that much of a visible difference in my opinion. 😳 I tell ya what though.. My husband and I both wear our rubber rings more than our real rings these days! He works in construction so he can’t wear his real ring and I’m taking care of our baby and I’m afraid to scratch him 🫣 (Hence the reason I’m just now replying to your comment - been busy Mommin’ over here 😊) Hoping to get back into making videos soon, though! 🤍

We got married at 6 p.m. so after the ceremony and pictures it was around 7 and we were starving!! So we went back to our hotel and changed and then went down to a place in Monterey called Cannery Row that had lots of shops and places to eat. We didn’t plan where we were going to eat before hand, we just went down there and found something. 😊 Some guy working at one of the shops asked us what brought us to town and we said, “Oh we just got married about an hour ago.” He looked at us like we were crazy. 🤣

I’m so glad it’s been helpful!! 💕 So, the time your marriage license is valid differs for each state. In California, if I go get my marriage license today, I have 90 days to get it signed and returned to the county clerk because it’s only valid for 90 days. In the state I live in, marriage licenses are only valid for 30 days, so I’d have 30 days to get it signed and returned. If you wait longer than the 90 days or 30 days or however many days it is for the state you’re getting married in, then you’ll have to reapply for the license again. So you’d have to pay for a new license since the old one expired. Hope that makes sense! 😊

They LOVED getting to be a part of picking out the dress since they didn’t get to be at the ceremony. They also threw me a wedding shower and I had a bachelorette party! I’m sure your family/friends would love to be involved with anything leading up to your big day, even if they won’t be at the elopement itself. 😊

I feel this. Not engaged yet. We have 2 children and we talk about the price of a wedding etc and i think elopement is on the cards. my parents are also divorced and I don't want to deal with any of that. Just us and our children

1.) We emailed back and forth with our officiant. She asked us each to send her answers to a few questions that way she could incorporate it into the ceremony since she didn’t know us. I LOVED that she did that because the things she incorporated that my husband had said were absolutely precious. We had her cell number and could have called/texted her, but we just opted to communicate over email. Although I was texting with her the day of the ceremony! 2.) The photos were amazing! Even better than I expected! I think each location has a few photographers. They assigned Josh to us and he did an incredible job! He was really laid back and so kind. My husband even said afterwards how comfortable he felt even though he doesn’t like taking pictures. We had his cell number as well and he was quick to get back with us. 3.) I really don’t wish we would have added anything on. We wanted it to be pretty simple and short and that’s what we got! The hour of photography was plenty because there are only so many poses you can do anyway. But if you are wanting pictures in a different location than where you’re getting married then it might be nice to add on a few hours of photography.
