#27: Functional Radio For Preparedness
A 1 hour overview of how to use radio as part of your emergency preparedness planning.
We look at the Why, How, What, Where and When of using which frequencies and for their purposes. There are 49 frequencies we can use to both gather intelligence and communicate with other, including a bunch for short range and a bunch for longer range and over various terrain.
Spend an hour and help fill the communication gaps in your preps.
If you want to attend this workshop, reach out on PrepareToLive.ca and we can set something up.
Disclaimer: You need to know the restrictions in your area. In mine, anyone can use radio for emergency communications, but that may not be the same in your area. Do your homework so you don't end up becoming a target.

#25: Close range Get Home Bag
มุมมอง 5022 ปีที่แล้ว
This is the gear I want in the truck all the time, to make it a little more safe and comfortable to get home. This would be for a day or two. I add a larger backpack for longer potential trips. I select 1 of 2 depending on how much range I need. But this stuff, I'd want even if I didn't need one of those.

#23: RV fridge not getting cold...SOLVED!!!
มุมมอง 713 ปีที่แล้ว
If your RV fridge is not getting cold even after you've turned it down as far as it'll go, it may not be broken. I bought this fridge for 300 bucks from a man who replaced his for $3,000 because he thought it wasn't working. It works fine. Enjoy saving money. Here's the book. Lot's of good little tricks and tips. www.amazon.ca/Camping-Everything-Wish-Knew-Earlier/dp/1652572805/ref=asc_df_165257...
#22: Get Home System (In-town kit AND Extension Kit)
มุมมอง 3524 ปีที่แล้ว
This is my Get Home Bag. The small one is in-town and clothes and the big one adds some range to the small one. Super-simple practical system to cover me in town and up to 100 miles cross-country....could go much longer but would need additional food.

#20 Pt 2, PSK
มุมมอง 665 ปีที่แล้ว
This is the PSK that somehow didn't get filmed while doing the rest. In addition to all this I have a Swiss Army Knife One Hand-Trekker (which can't go on the plane) and a spring loaded fishing spool I can tie off to the bank and come back to later.
#20 Pt 1:TSA-Approved Carry-on Family Travel Preparedness Kit, to handle almost all eventualities.
มุมมอง 2955 ปีที่แล้ว
Family kit to survive 72 hours or more while travelling. It's worth the watch time if you have a family to protect and provide for and are going to be away from your home and preps. I built several different GHB from this kit while we were away, and would be able to have gear in multiple places if needed. Could leave some stuff where we were staying, have some with us and/or have several partie...
#19 3 kits, 3 sizes, multiple options, inspiration and ideas.
มุมมอง 255 ปีที่แล้ว
3 different kits from 5 lbs down to a few ounces, all cover the major pillars of survival. Use for inspiration and ideas for your own preparedness. The little one also has the SOL Survival Poncho, just like the middle one as it's shelter option (attached with a carabiner). It just didn't make sense to put it in the video twice.

#15 Get Home Bag (GHB) contents
มุมมอง 2565 ปีที่แล้ว
This is the latest iteration of my GHB. These are the things I need to get home safely from Banff to Calgary. Sleeping is key hence the fairly robust kit. Pretty easy to freeze while sleeping in -20 celcius. Minimal food but lots of hydration options which is critical in the cold. Keeping yourself well hydrated will help your body regulate heat better and will keep you from complicating your is...

    How well did it work?

  • @adam_clay
    @adam_clay 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    This would work. I was thinking of using the same tape to wrap foam weather stripping. I didnt think of just wrapping the original gasket. Thank you for sharing.

    I would have added a compass & a whistle ...

    • @PrepareToLiveCa
      @PrepareToLiveCa 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It actually has a whistle. I didn't show it but it's right under the match container tucked between the sheath and the lifestraw. You can see it sticking out (on a small grey "s" biner) at the start of the video. It had a compass (suunto baseplate) but it broke and I haven't replaced it. Good catch.

    • @PrepareToLiveCa
      @PrepareToLiveCa 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sadly no. Was hoping someone else did. Lol. The logic is sound and as long as the seal is good there shouldn't be an issue. That said could try various communications devices in and out of the box and at least we know something. Radio is a little iffy but a cell phone should be a decent guage.

    Interesting comment about the Rush 72. My favorite bag of all. My GHB got up to 42 pounds, now I'm down to 34, trying to get to 25, but probably not going to make it. With my work, I could be in a pickup truck or a van, and anywhere from 15 to 55 miles+ from home. My trip home could be along a highway going through the xburbs or being on the west side of Denver and having to go through Denver to get 25 miles to the east. Staying off or to the side of roads I could be looking at a day to three days trip, and that would hopefully not be in the winter. Nice video and I sub'd.

    I also was carrying way too much stuff around that I never needed. It is too easy to get carried away with all the fancy gear... For myself I have set my 500 gram rule. Now the kit is actually full of uses and not mostly dead weight. Thank You for the update on the kit.
