Wow, I did not think they were gonna pull that out at the end. It was looking pretty bleak there for a while.
Same. I was really thinking I made a big mistake about halfway through
Oof! Brutal round! I'm always happy when a Druid does well though ... So I'm conflicted 😅
Same. At least Keyleth didn't show up
Great episode! This was fun to watch. I really like the speed of combat. Love those game tiles. If I may, where are they from?
Thank you, I'm very glad you enjoyed it! The Dungeon tiles are from a Games Workshop game called Warhammer Quest the Cursed City. Which I will also get around to on this channel, eventually!
A couple minor notes. at 7:00 one of the heros rolled a 1 on their first shot. This is an exception to the limited ammo rule, you always get at least two shots. Page 39 at 11:19 the enemy equaled the armor and so the hero should be stunned. Page 43 at 11:54 the hero can't back up so the combat continues even past round 3. Page 42 at 28:35 combat went to the third round and ended there so both sides should back up 1". Page 42 and of Step 5. You showed me a few rules that I got wrong. Thank you.
Thanks for watching and paying attention!
I do love the delve system for 5L, its nice and quick and gives it a real ol' school D&D vibe. I hear something similar is coming to 5 Parsecs soon as well, which would be awsome. Good vid, and stay cool
Thank you! And Happy New Year! I agree, it's a very old school vibe, kind of fun
I’m not positive, but I think if you roll a 1 on the first time you shoot in the scenario, you don’t run out of ammo, so basically, archers always bring at least two arrows to a fight… been a month since I read the rules though so I could be misremembering!
I have been procrastinating on getting started with 5 Leagues by overthinking the map. Thanks for reminding us that we don’t need much to launch the campaign!
You are welcome! I'm happy you said that. Really wanted to show you don't need a lot of stuff to get going.
Exciting episode!
@@ctorus thank you!
I just stumbled across five Leagues. And being curious I looked around the internet for some tips and tricks. I must say I really enjoy this channel. thx for your work.
I'm so glad you found the channel! Welcome!
I get it 😁
Just found your channel, and ripped straight through the first 4 episodes. I'd never heard of Five Leagues before, and now I've just gone and bought a print copy. Thanks for the great content!
I'm so glad! Thank you for watching and best of luck on your own adventures!
New sceneries ! Good job as always.
Thank you! I had to go to Michael's for some glue, and one idea led to another.
Excellent play through! Really enjoying your game play. Very helpful.
Thank you! I'm very glad
Good, video, looking forward to the battle. I'm not sure how well breaking up videos is going to go; ones I've seen do it tend to get disjointed with the pre/post battle steps in seperate videos from the battle. Personally, I'm all for long form videos with the whole turn included. Either way, keep crackin' on, both your game and your personality are great to watch.
@Axiie Thanks for the input! I'm honestly not sure which way people would rather view it, so your opinion is helpful. Thank you!
Yeah, its a tough one to figure out, and I get why some try the splitting it in multiple parts. For me, its the whole turn in one video deal even if its long form, is better than split videos and losing track of 'the next episode'. Its something I feel aggressive editing can solve, but even that varies per individual channel. Whatever you decide, I'm sure trying it will reveal more than any kind of theory chatter. And I'll still keep watchin!
Another great vid! 😊
Thank you!
Great vid. I did try using spoiler tags, but they didn't work, so I'll just salute, good sir.
Thanks! I was slowly worrying the fight was going to be a campaign ender!
I’m really enjoying your playrhrough. You are being extra hard on yourself though. When you roll against toughness any roll of 2 to 6 will wound and stun. You kill outright if it is more than toughness, and only stun on a 1.
Thank you!! Yeah, I figure it out later, lol. I am so used to Warhammer that it felt weird not needing 8 different rolls before actually inflicting a wound, lol
@@TinyTableGames On the upside, it’s definitely making the battles feel very epic! Keep up the great work!
The rules for monsters with MPs are different, you need to at least match toughness to do something
@@yairiny Yeah, you’re right, although the golem would still wound them on 2 to 6, and in the previous videos it would have applied.
I learned a new way to determine a random direction that I thought I'd share. Roll a d10, ignore the result, and just look at the direction that the top face is pointing.
@jasonkemp4571 yup! That's an old school Warhammer solution to losing your scatter die
Enjoying your videos, loving the Five Leagues focus. Lookin forward to seeing any Five Parsecs you rock out as well.
Thank you, Im glad you are liking it! I will mix in a few other games, but the Five Leagues campaign will carry on until the whole team dies or they win. Starship Trooper style, I guess lol
I found myself playing the same way with 5 Parsecs; lots of cool end state conditions, but I want to play indefinitely and just see what happens
Very cool
Nice play
Thanks! Glad you enjoy joyed it
Really enjoyed this!
Thank you for watching!
A session like this, on occasion, is actually really nice in solo campaign games. Gives a sense of progression and time ticking along. And, it makes you clentch at the thought of fighting the Death Knight :P Looking forward to more!
@Axiie yeah...I don't know when they'll be ready for what right now will likely be a "anything but a 1 takes them out" fight. Lots of story points I guess....
Loving these videos, good stuff. You don't see as much 5 Leagues playthroughs as you do 5 Parsecs (love both games). Lookin forward to many more natural 1's ;)
@@Axiie thanks!
Pretty sure your guys should be getting +1 combat skill when an ally is within 1in for melee exchanges?
You know I'm not sure. I'll check the rules! If so, that would be great!
When you roled "golem" for the monster type, i was like "ow poor warband !". Great campaign report !
Thanks! I felt the same way. I'm even more concerned about the new big bad...yikes!
That is good.
I miss splash mountain
I respect that. For me, Tiana's is way more fun. It IS MUCH splashier...I get soaked on the ride now. Plus, we love the movie and songs from Princess and the Frog, so it's a big splashy sing along for us now.
Happy funday 🎉
I'm reminded of that scene in Saving Private Ryan where Tom Hanks is shooting at the tank.
Lol yeah my confidence in their ability to win was not very high
Not sure if it's an oversight or a houserule, but RAW wounds don't only occur on matches against the toughness, it's on any hit that isn't a natural 1 that also fails to knock the figure out. I made this mistake on my first read through because I glossed over the section thinking it would have the same logic as the overcome armour roll - but nope, apparently not. Summary on the back page makes it super clear, I was just being daft. It does make the optional rule for multiple wounds make WAY more sense, I was genuinely wondering what the point was on my first read.
Yup you are right! I get it fixed later on.
Nice playthorugh
Thanks!
Can you do a vid for 5 Parsecs from home too?
I'm certainly interested in that. I'll add it to my list. Thank you for the suggestion!
I really like your presentation of the game, but one thing i noticed, the red circle with a cross in it means you immediately end the action phase. It doesn't reduce the bloodlust. I look forward to more Final Girl playthroughs.
Good point! I kind of assumed since the red hourglass indicates it on the horror board. Also, thanks for watching!
I bought one a few weeks ago. I think I’m months away from getting it
Probably, to be honest. I was soooo close to asking for a refund. The other thing to know is the Craftsman promise means that as the produce the parts for your table, they may pull it to replace a part damaged in shipping for someone else, then make yours again. Added 3 weeks or so to my delivery.
@@TinyTableGamesah ok. I can wait, I’ve wanted one for years
How long from when they sent you tracking information to actual shipping? I got my tracking monday and it still on their docks LOL
Three days
Whoop!!!
Thank you!
Yoooooo!! Gonna pick one up just to rock the cardboard playmat on my next locals
4 vs 4? let's see how this goes?! thud/thunderbolt has 3! medium lasers iniative winning side moves after the losing side! also the facing of the vindicator would change on hex side to its right ;) i think alphastrike would be a good system for you to try. you also fogot the forrest for the movement of the thunderbolt in team griffin. (putting the thud in the heavy woods there would have been a good move, because it could have parked there as area denial and shoot everything at range with its LRM and Large Laser and everything coming close from the other woodline would have gotten a load of medium lasers and srms)...
Yeah, I remembered the extra medium lasers partway through. Setting him up as a firebase, especially with no heat sink issues and no forest fires would have been a good idea.
I super appreciate videos like this. I dont have the new starter box yet just the old one that had the wolverine in it.
Thank you!
For the 2 0n 1 situation, when the 2 side looses initiative, both mechs move before the 1 side.
I agree. Except the beginner rules do not say that. It's literally just loser goes first, and alternate.
The animation at the end reminded me of the first Battletech computer game (Crescent Hawks Inception). I would have liked to see more of the damage readouts as they took hits, but otherwise nice demo.
Thanks! I'm working out how to do that efficiently, because I like the old game too. Life got in the way for a minute, but it's coming
Jumping adds +1 to your normal evasion, so 5 hexes jumped would be 3+ lights going full tilt are hard to kill, you need to box them in. also you can change the gunnery for the mechs if you like to make the game faster with turn 3 was only +2 evasion for the running locust, because it moved only 6 hexes, its important to pay attention to that, because that would have been some easy shots into it for the griffin. the griffin locust is also making a critical move here, because with close combat it could have been pushed off the map by the vindicator! you forgot the second medium laser on the griffin ;) after the turn the griffins locust was out, both enemies have to move first when the griffin wins the iniative the vindicator run in the turn, because his initial turn was 1, then move 3 hexes for another 4 movement, meaning 5 MP spend on a 4/6 mech you keep forgetting the 2nd medium laser ^_^' jumping in the wood would have helped the griffin in turn 5 too getting +3 evasion and +1 or +2 depending in what kind of woods he jumped you forgot the woods that the griffin was standing in, but the medium rolled high enough haha. can't mechs reverse in the biginner rules? because the griffin can jump or just turn one hex side and walk backwards into the corner moving the locust forward would have kept the griffin in his firing arc and moved the MGs into medium range. jumping 5 is the way to go with the griffin, gives 3 evasion and causes 3 on his to hits. really liked the improved animation hehe
Thanks for commenting! This Griffin doesn't have a 2nd medium laser. It was a super light load out in exchange for extra jump jets and armor, I guess? I definitely forgot how far mechanic moved a couple of times, but man the rolls were So. Bad. I could not believe how consistently I couldn't roll 7+ on 2d6. Ugh. Mechs can reverse in beginner rules, I just don't like to. And glad you liked the new animation graphics! I do too.
The Urbie is the Mascot mech of Battletech
Yup
Those are awesome!!
Thank you! I use Citadel, Army Painter, and Vallejo paints.
@@TinyTableGamesso do you build them and then paint?
Usually. Except if there are capes or they are holding something very close to the body. Capes are the worst.
@@TinyTableGames I’ve never seen those before they are super cool! I love mini stuff
Might need a more vigorous dice tossing (into a box), not "flip twice while falling from hand"
Perhaps
A Game of Armoured Combat box is the next level up from the Beginner & Essentials boxes rules wise
True. Curious about Alpha Strike though. But I do enjoy hex maps.
@@TinyTableGames nothing stopping you from playing AS on a hex mat Just swap Inches for hexs.
yes, diffrent mechs, other map, but nearly same rules, because rules light. looking forward to alpha strike!
@@Spartaner251 me too!
Poor Rifleman was cheated out of his last large laser shot before losing his arm.
Yeah, I blew that one. To be fair though, he was shooting like drunk guy at a rigged carnival game. So...
first turn: wolvorine would only get a black +1 dice, because he was running, but the many turns let it only move 4 hexes, which only gives +1 for evading enemy fire. its not the MP used that makes the modifier, it's the actual hex fields the mech moves through (including the one the mech stops in) that's why running with a 4/6 mech allows you to move 5 hexes straight with one turn in between or at the beginnig or end. moving straight lines is always better than putting a lot of turns in. sometimes its even better to go through forrest or stuff and eat the movement mod than getting around the obstruction. (at least all shots would have missed with lower mods too lol) i dunno what the rule about the wall was, but if it only counts as height 2, your mechs could climb it. also if you want to speed up the game you could lower the gunnery and pilot skill to 3/4 or play every pilot with the sniper skill to half the range modifiers turn two: same thing about hexes moved vs MP spend, not moving the thunderbold behind the wolvorine in direct base contact to the rear is criminal >__< could have dumped all his short range weapons into the back of the wolvorine. 4 gunnery, 2 running, 3 wolvorine, 0 range it's still hitting on 9's but you would have about 7 tries to have something connect. you forgot the other two medium lasers on the thunderbolt and the two MGs that would have hit on 12 for shooting long range instead of short, you also forgot to check how many SRMs connect from the SRM2 i think turn three: the wolvorine would have moved last, because team centurion would had to move all two mechs first, because they have 2:1 advantage nice that you've remembered it with the turning, and promptly forgot for the wolvorine lol and did it right for the thunderbolt turn four: cent would have a 0 walking mod here represented with a 6 on the white dice, so that you remember to add the walking to your shotting, but the enemy knows that you haven't moved enough hexes to get evasion thunderbolt could have gotten a shot at the wolvorine just running forward and turning one side to the right after 5 hexes, well maybe because it would have touched the walled hex too. jumpjets and the mobility of the wolvorine are a brutal advantage even when going 2vs1 for SRMs: each missile rolls for a diffrent hit location, i don't know if that is explained in the box rules. turn 5: better move for the wolvorine here would have been to just walk reverse, if you keep your mech standing without moving, you don't have to place a dice, so you don't add the +1 for walking on the white dice by accident when you play with even more units. and if someone takes 20 dmg in a turn or more, the mech has to take a pilot skill check of pilotskill+1 (so 6 or better in this case) also for the end animation: if you could make the arrows/lines in diffrent colors for the diffrent weapon types that would be awesome :D pretty nice that the game went so fluide for you!
Thanks! I'll have to work on the animation arrows. I split out the sounds but I can see the arrows being helpful too. I don't disagree with a lot of your comments, but there are a lot of rules not covered in the Essential box they just skip over, including climbing and rear armor. Yeah, the Wolverine did better than I expected, even not playing optimally
@@TinyTableGames okay didn't knew that it doesn't cover climbing/going over diffrent height levels. and yes in the beginner rules it helps to be in the side/rear arc to not get shot.
For sure. After playing through this box, I don't think it's my favorite version of the Intro boxes. I feel like they left out too much that makes the game what it is
@@TinyTableGames yes! looking forward to videos of you playing with the full Mech Manual ruleset, or ramp it up slowly with adding more and more rules.
More coming for sure
1st turn, the rifleman would get no cover bonus, because it moved only 2 hexes, that's why running can help you, even if you run through woods for example. if its 12 hexes, that should be medium for the LRM, short range for LRM is only exactly 7 hexes, everything else is medium or minimum range (or in this version short range i guess) 2nd turn for the centurion the same thing, it only walked 2 hexes 3rd turn rifleman had to move first, you've played it like the rifleman won initiative. damage counts at the end of the phase, so if you lose the arm, in a turn you can still use all the weapons on this arm. but you won't be able to punch with the arm the animation at the end was pretty funny, well done
First, thanks for analyzing it and enjoying it! The cover bonus in turn 1 was because the Centurion was standing behind but not in the light woods. For the rest, I think you are absolutely right. There are some weird movement simplifications in the Essential rules that left me scratching my head a little bit as far as modifiers based on movement. It's wholly possible my wires crossed and I played it half "full Battletech" and half Essentials. And yeah, I straight up forgot to give the Rifleman his second shot of his large laser on his left arm in the turn it fell off. Realized while editing. Figured his shooting was so bad he was probably in the cockpit screaming in frustration and forgot to use it. 😁
