These apartments are really nice. However, I see so many beautiful and expensive houses and apartments in Ghana, and I wonder about a couple of things: 1) Which demographic are these apartments built for? 2) Why are these apartments sold in dollars, when the currency in Ghana is cedis? 3) Why are so many builders in Ghana, or maybe I should say Accra, building for high income earners when majority of indigenous Ghanaians are very low income earners? Ghana is a very small country, that has no real structured economy. There was a time when in the sixties and seventies when Ghana had a noticeable upper, middle and low class structure. In the current climate, there is only a small percentage of ghanaians who have money and a majority who don't. I live in the US and a lot of people couldn't afford those apartments in the video without getting a mortgage loan. Almost nobody in the USA can buy a home outright. It seems to me that the builders of these types of homes are being very unrealistic, because the market for these types of homes is going to be quite small. It seems they are catering to foreigners, expatriates and maybe tourists. The question is; how many expatriates would want to buy these expensive homes, when most of them are leaving their respective countries in the western hemisphere for a cheaper way of living? I think a lot of business owners in Ghana are gearing their products and services to a market that is very impractical and not sustainable in the long term. Ghana would be better served if entrepreneurs would create products and services that benefit the general population instead of trying compete with the western world, and trying to get rich quickly. Ghana's currency is not in dollars, Why on earth do apartments and homes have to be paid in that currency when dollars are out of reach for most indigenous Ghanaians?
