In a DC motor, the commutator also acts as a rectifier. Explanation: In a DC motor, the commutator ensures that the current flowing through the armature windings reverses at the appropriate points during the rotation of the motor. This reversal of current direction is necessary to maintain a continuous torque and ensure that the motor keeps rotating in the same direction. The commutator doesn't change the type of current (AC to DC) in this case; instead, it ensures that the current in the armature always flows in the right direction to produce rotational motion. So, in a DC motor, the commutator primarily functions as a rectifier as well, helping in the continuous rotation of the motor.
