Vandal Hearts (PS1) IMPOSSIBLE RUN - Base Class Only - Part 3 - Act III - Perfect Play (Deathless)
Impossible Run of Vandal Hearts with Base Classes Only/Deathless part 2. This part will cover the entire act 3 and this is the part where only going with Base Classes will start to showcase its shortcomings even with all the leveling as this chapter is gonna be the first instance where i cannot prevent casualties (Mage Towers getting destroyed). For the purposes of this run i will not count casualties that i am forced to take do to limitations of only using Base Classes (which is mostly do to the limited movement range) but otherwise the run will still remain deathless. If said forced casualty could be prevented either by pure luck or one of the many hidden itens in the game, i will see if its worth it as sometimes just letting the casualty happen will cost less then using the itens you find that can be sold for alot of money. Many of these instances i have tested beforehand to see if theres a realistic chance of salvaging it and...most of then dont. As always i will detail the strategies used for each fight in the comments section.

    Continuing on with the battle strategies used for each fight with the base classes: 3-1 - This fight is always free regardless so not much to say about the fight itself but here i showcase how getting a good stat boost at high levels is really important as while Grog is taking around 30 damage minimum, Sara takes only 13 since i made sure she got a good overall stat boost. Eventually i will do this with all characters as soon as i get the chance. 3-2 - This fight is the first instance where i couldnt prevent casualties from not happening. Since its impossible for me to use the Nova Key for leveling up as i would even be able to complete that fight, i have to level up Zohar mid fight as he cannot one shot the Sparkies at level 14 while he is a Mage. I still tried to see if i could save all the Mage Towers but outside of extreme RNG luck with the Sparkie spawns and some AI break wth then choosing to target my characters instead of the Towers, this is a forced casualty scenario so i try to at least make it up for it by doing the usual strategy later to put my characters on each corner to maximize money gained. 3-3 - This fight is pretty simple as the leveling takes care of any possible annoyance that might happen otherwise but i still have to make sure Clive doesnt commit suicide or kill everything before i can get every item. In the end i finally have Clive take the spotlight as i let him finish off the Deacon ;) 3-4 - Another simple fight thanks to the leveling done. Both the Warlock and Deacon wont ever move in this fight so i can easily get all the treasures in the meantime. 3-5 - This fight is tricky with only base classes and would be literally impossible outside of overleveling. The strategy to wait till turn 5 is still the same, but the catch here is that do to the poor movement of the base Priest class, even if you move perfectly one of the Guard Dogs will still be able to pass through before you can kick the Yellow Box to block then. If i wasnt overleveled i wouldnt be able to one shot it which would cause a fail in the next turn as it would reach the corner of the screen. Its no slouch for the rest of the party either as you have to make sure you cut then off as they can outmaneuver you with better movement if you dont. 3-6 - This fight is pretty simple with the most important thing is me leveling up Darius. Here i abuse Spellbind to completely destroy the 100% block gimmick of the Juggernauts as it requires 2 casts of either Dark Star or Piercing Ray to kill then. 3-7 - This fight is also simple overall and oddly enough the main problem that i could have here is me not being able to kill every single enemy before Dumas starts to move and eventually kills himself by attacking me as all of his Warlocks and Deacons wouldnt ever move. In the end i had to lure him to chase my main party instead of Clint's party all the way to the starting point where Ash arrives to both be able to kill the Warlock/Deacon and get the Mana Key. After that i just make Dumas look like a Dumbass yet again but in a even more humiliating and hilarious way possible (Huxley is the original Angry Grandpa afterall XD!!!)

    Continuing on with the battle strategies used in each fight with base classes: 2-1 - This fight is relatively the same as my previous runs but the difference here is since none of my units are Advanced, none are able to jump on top of yellow boxes because its a 2 tile difference in height and base classes cannot move to a tile that has beyond a 1 height difference. In the actual battle i take every opportunity humanly possible that i have to get more levels for Ash by making him take damage and then heal for EXP. 2-2 - Starting at this fight is where i needed all those levels but i still need to prepare further for the next fight and so on. In the beginning in put Ash in the face of the Guard Dogs as i want then to Poison him. This will be necessary later to get more EXP with him but i also will take the oppotunity and even out my entire party for levels as best as i can here. The levels for Ash paid off as he is able to one shot the Mad Soldiers. 2-3 - Thanks to the leveling done in the previous fight, i have room for breathing in this fight as otherwise it would be completely miserable especially for Kira and Clint. Kira is strong enough to 2 shot the Shooterimps and to not get completely destroyed should a Mad Soldier attack her. For the main party i lure the Blood Ghosts to attack my Archers as then attacking any of my Knights would be disastrous. The Dark Golems here will need a few attacks to take then out as even Ash being many levels higher, he can only at best deal more then half their HP with a back attack. Once every enemy but one Shooterimp is alive, i purposely poison Ash for more EXP through healing but i also take the opportunity once again to level the entire party to at least level 17 overall by abusing the Poison cure EXP. This will prepare me nicely for the next fight. 2-4 - This is the fight where i will have breathing room in the run and not every fight will require insane micro management. First however i have to take care of all the enemies. First i move Ash on the left and Clint in the right so that they can take the Shooterimps attacks with ease while taking care of the Mad Soldiers. Ash is able to one shot then but Clint will require 2 attacks. After they are taken care off, i lure the Imps to expose their backs to my Archers below and they are strong enough to one shot then with a "support" boost. After getting everyone up, i wait for the rest of the enemies to come. As you can see how these levels where needed, a Blood Ghost despite being 6 levels lower then Grog can still damage him way beyond the minimum amount attacking him from the front on a lower ground while he only deals exactly half its HP with a high ground advantage...thats insane!! Now with everyone gone its time for a MASSIVE leveling but not just enemy leveling... i level both Huxley and Sara to the max level of 49 BUT: i make sure they get close to perfect boosts in every stat as it will be also needed later. Then i level everyone to level 46 as i didnt had enough money for more Mage Oils at this point sadly. 2-5 - With the massive leveling done in the previous fight, this fight wont be completely miserable. Here you can start to witness how a bad boost in defense can make a character take high minimum damage from enemies despite then being much lower leveled compared to a good boost. Since Magnus and any enemy with Offensive spells gets their AI broken when facing much higher leveled units, i use this opportunity to get everyone one more level. Then i make Magnus look like a scrub with only Base Classes ;) 2-6 - Normally this fight is on the easier side since the Guard Dogs dont even fight back, but because of their good move range, they can flee quite far from you when you are stuck with only at best a move range of 5 from the base classes (and 4 from Mages and Priests) so this fight gets pretty tight i you dont make the Guard Dogs move where you want then to be while at the same time being able to get both hidden treasures on both sides. This fight i actually needed some off screen playtesting as no amount of levels will make this any easier and i have to fully optimize my movement here.

    Here i will detail the strategies used for each fight in the Impossible run: 1-1 - This fight goes exactly as you would expect compared to my other runs so the strategies are the same to maximize EXP gained for Ash. 1-2 - This fight is also mostly the same but the difference here is that i buy a Mage Oil for Ash beforehand to significantly increase EXP gained by healing more times after i purposely let the Hunterimps damage Ash. 1-3 - This fight is also mostly the same as i let Ash get attacked by the Golems as best as i can so he can heal it later for more EXP, then i divide the focus of the last Golems to be able to pick up the Yellow Box chest. 1-4 - With Ash not Advanced to Champion, he cannot one shot the Hell Bats even when he is several levels above then. The logic of the AI was all over the place this time around similar to my previous run where the Brigands would choose to target my other characters despite me purposely getting Ash to expose his back to then. In the end i had to reset in-battle saves multiple times until i can finally get the AI to act how its supposed to XD! After that its time for leveling up everyone the traditional way i did on my other runs as well. 1-5 - With the intention to squeeze as much EXP gain as i can, i do this fight in a completely different way for the exact EXP purpose but the problem is that this fight can be a real pain to use for EXP as the annoyance of Paralyzes is real but trust me this will be necessary for later. 1-6 - With the intention for me to focus most of the Corsairs and Buccaners to attack Ash, i Paralyze of then in the right side and put of my units beside the Paralyzed unit which makes it so no one can attack me close range which forces the AI of the Corsairs to change sides. This is yet another way to level up Ash as much as possible so that in the next chapter i can do another max leveling of the party.

      @@IgorWelkenbach Yup. Its only for The stages thenselfs where its melee only. Tô be fair i would love doing bosses melee only, but i dont think they were programmed tô interact with melee it seems. Otherwise the bosses would be easier with melee as you wouldnt need tô hit then in their weak spot for damage.

    Continuing on with the battle strategies used for each fight with the best classes: 6-1 - Already in the beginning you can tell how having 4 Snipers makes a huge difference. This is because with a combination of Salamander, Holy Pressure and Sniper attacks, you are guaranteed to clear both Shooters, the Priest , the Warlock and both Armors leaving only the Knights with little health for your Dragoons to finish then off. Later on its the same thing with the Priest and the Warlock. Before kicking the bolder i make sure to take out both Shooters and the Warlock before moving on. The way i kill the Warlock is a perfect example of how you can bypass their Magic Defense when your Snipers dont have a shot at then by Poisoning and Paralyzing then at the same time ( better results with a in-battle save abuse). After Kane goes from a scrub to a scrublord, i just give him the good old rugal treatment after i pick the Necklace and kill his remaining units ;) 6-2 - This fight is always free so strategy here is relatively the same as my previous runs. 6-3 - Here in this fight just like in the previous chapters with a bunch of enemy Mages, i showcase how you dont need to be as careful with your Dragoons around Enchanters and how their magic "weakness" is still not enough to make then anywhere honest as it should. Later on when Xeno is alone i also showcase how the Mage and Priest class resistance to the Armor class is completely useless for the enemy as even Xeno being at level 34, a level 28 Dragoon Dolan makes him his bitch like those 6 levels werent even there XD! 6-4 - Even if Darius is not a Sky Lord in here, the double Wyrmfang strategy still works in here to clear most of the enemies but i will require extra Magic on the right side to clear some of the enemies that might still be alive (which would be the right side Bahamut most likely). On the plus side, without a Sky Lord, theres almost no threat of someone dying unless the Cannons and Dark Mages decide to aim on just one character that the Bahamut up top can also target. Later on with Dolf i showcase the opposite scenario of the Priest/Mage class resistance to the Armor class as for the player it actually matters. Dolf being 4 levels higher then Eleni still barely manages to deal half her HP in one hit... if the situation was similar with my Dragoons being 4 levels higher then Xeno...its instant death no questions asked. After Dolf's pitiful display, i give him the good old Rugal treatment...so you know the deal already ;) Thank you everyone who watched and enjoyed this run :) Theres still one more run that i want to do with Vandal Hearts and the challenge i will do will surprise most people.     Continuing on with the battle strategies used for each fight with the best classes: 5-1 - Finally the whole team is together again and even if Kira is still a Bowman here, she still can be useful if you are careful. How i approach this fight is similar to how i did in my previous runs, but now i have a tendency to go in with my Dragoons in the face of magic and as you can see...its still not that threatning to then at all and can be easily healed and it makes the enemy Mages AI favor the use of their multi hitting spells which makes then expose thenselfs more to hit as many targets as possible. 5-2 - This time i use a different approach in this fight: first thing is to clear all of the Crimson Armors in your back alongside the Crimson Priest. Depending on how high or low Eleni's and Zohar's attack boost is, both of then casting Phase Shift might not be enough to kill then (which was my case) so i needed extra attacks to clear then. Once they are gone, fortify in the back of the bridge and let the Crimson Hawks come in while you use a Phalanx style formation. The ones trying to sneak in by the sides can be picked off by magic and the Snipers. Once they are gone, Kurtz and the rest of the units will advance. Kill the Warlock and both Shooters and surround Kurtz with your Mages and Priests so that Dagger Storm hits then for pitiful damage. In the meantime Kurtz is wasting his MP, i go grab the treasures before he runs out and i make sure he attacks Eleni as both Sara and Huxley in that instance can actually 2 shot him. Once the treasures are taken, its time to pain the snow crimson with Kurtz's blood but not before making him look like a scrub ;) 5-3 - This time just like fight 5-1 i go all out on both sides with my units clamped together, including my Dragoons to lure the Death Angels into using Thunder Ball and exposing thenselfs more. The rest of the fight is pretty straight forward as you pick the enemies off one by one but making sure one stays alive to reveal the Mimic at the end for extra money. Mana Key - I quickly do the trial to level up Eleni and Zohar to level 25 so that they have access to Salamander for the next fight. 5-4 - Move Clint to the tile to his side and most of the enemies will come in waves after. Spam Salamander and pick off the Acid Ghost and the Egg Worm by the Dragon Spear chest. After that fortify in the beginning of the map and just let the enemies come and kill then one by one. while not possible to get the Logos Key here without a Airman, i tried to pick up the Dragon Spear and while its possible with in-battle save abuse making sure Salamander blocks every attack, in the end i simply said screw it as its more trouble then worth it. 5-5 - This fight i do reset in the beginning quite a few times to as i come up with a more optimized way to approach the fight in the beginning. Just like fight 5-2, depending on your Enchanters attack boost both of then casting Salamander might not be enough to kill all of the level 29 Crimson Armors behind you (which again was the case here). after the first party is done, its time to fortify all Dragoons in front of where Kane's team will come and then make his units and then him look like the scrubs they are ;) After that its time to make his bitch Sabina into a scrub as well after taking care of the rest of the units and getting all the treasure. 5-6 - Having 4 Snipers will really help in this fight as alreadu in the very beginning, you can kill both Guardians and Basilisks with Salamander spam and then have each Sniper finish then off. Later in the fight i use the same approach i did in my other runs in this fight to save before another section rises up to perfectly align my units to destroy all enemies before they even get a chance to even think. The rest of the battle ends the same way.

    Continuing on with the battle strategies used for each fight with the best classes: 4-1 - As explained beforehand, this fight is arguably the hardest in the whole game do to its setting but of course here i showcase how you can overcome their class advancements with better strategy and better class viability (especially the Chad Armor class vs the scrub Soldier class XD). Let then come and use your Guardsmen to create chokepoints. Heal when necessary and abuse Phase Shift and multiple bowman to slowly kill their ranks of Crimson scrubs ;) 4-2 - This fight is always easy regardless of team composition but not having Hawknights will make it easier here as its usually the only unit with a danger of getting killed by multiple Bugaboos attacking it. Mana Key - I used this trial to level up everyone to level 20 and above as the next fight is actually hard to get it done deathless when not advanced. 4-3 - In a deathless run this fight can be quite annoying if you dont have everyone advanced and at level 20 or beyond and thats because if multiple Eggworms decide to focus on just one unit, it will more often than not will kill said unit with the help of further attacks. Strategy here is to pick a spot and try to focus most of the troops into said spot while placing a Dragoon on each end to kill those foolish enough to try and attack then. 4-4 - Having one extra bowman in this fight will sure make a difference alongside Phase Shift and Holy Pressure. Not having a Sky Lord here makes sure you dont have to reload if the Crimson Shooters decide to focus on it. In the end i decided to completely make Dallas a bitch by one shotting him while on a even level ;) This goes to show that the players Dragoons are just completely busted XD! 4-5 - Here having a extra Bowman will also help with taking out the Death Angels and Acid Ghosts. Here its also a good example how the Duelist class is worthless as the Skeletons are such a fodder that those in the beginning you can ignore and just move everyone to better positions. They will most likely attack your Snipers but the fail to even deal half their HP attacking from advantageous positions...yeah...Duelists suck XD! Make use of AI manipulation and turn your Dragoons back to then to try and bait then getting killed faster as Dragoons have a hard time moving with this map's terrain containing lots of barren tiles. Kill everything else strategically, get all the treasures and save Kira cause next chapter, its time to enjoy having 4 Snipers in the team ;)

    Continuing on with the battle strategies for each fight with the best classes: 3-1 - As always this fight will always be free but this time around i did chase the Sparkies down instead of just let then kill thenselfs. 3-2 - With proper placement of each character on each corner, you can guarantee the best payout by making sure all Sparkies die as soon as new ones spawn. In the last turn make sure to do a in-battle save as reload if any of the Sparkies block as you will miss potential money. 3-3 - Here the strategy used was similar to my previous run but more optimized. Here i also show why the "weakness" of the Guardsman/Armor class to magic isnt that big of a deal when its the player Armor units as the power of the spells enemies uses would completely one shot their own Armor units if used on then while it can barely deal half of mines HP. Here you can also witness Clive and the useless Swordsman class completely fail in the end as he struggles to kill a Deacon... (He eventually gets him i promise XD!). In this fight i also take the opportunity to level Sara and Huxley to level 18 as this level gets the much needed Ultra Healing as at this point, Healing Plus starts to fall off abit. 3-4 - Here the strategy is relatively the same but this time instead of using Phase Shift with Zohar, i make sure i Paralyze the only unit that do anything bad to my Guardsmen which is their Warlock. Once he is Paralyzed, the Centurions may as well start writting their will ;). The Blood Bats are taken care by using my Bishops as bait for then since they cannot ever be Paralyzed. In the end leave the Deacon alive while everyone gets the treasures but this time i used the Deacon to also even the level of Diego to the rest of the party until he runs out of MP. Then i just make him kill himself by attacking Dolan ;) 3-5 - Here the strategy is relatively the same: wait till turn 5 and just waste on the enemies with everything without caring for MP consuption. Take this time to get the treasure and even out the levels of any unit behind. 3-6 - Here in the prison fight my first priority is to level Eleni to level 14 to get Phase Shift. I also showcase another way you can "Cheat" the Juggernauts by paralyzing then. Since Paralyzes reduces your block % to 0, this is one way you can kill then if they ever get their back towards a wall if you mess up manipulating their AI. After getting Phaze Shift its time to kill the other Juggernauts and get the treasures while making the Mimics look like dunces by ambushing then as you reveal then XD! 3-7 - In the beginning i make sure that Clint is out of reach from the Warlocks while nuking most enemies with Phase Shift while i also make sure Darius is safe from the Grenadiers. Later on i move everyone towards the main party to be in range of Ultra Healing while i slowly reduce their numbers until only Dumas is left. Once Dumas is attacking my Guardsmen i make sure to level Darius and everyone below level 17 by attacking Dumas if they arent already level 17. In the end i just make sure to show Dumas besides him needing to change his name to Dumbass how much of a scrub he is in the face of my Guardsmen ;)

      @@JS-lh1lp Not quite as even in The regular mode, if you set The CPU above 100 it will still apply tô then but not if you set it below. For you it pretty much doesnt work even if you set it below 100 as The game seems tô lock you At a predefined HP per fight. Its just those hidden weird ways games back then would cheat in The AIs favor for added difficulty and Toshinden is no exception tô this rule. Also The way it ends up working is still glitched/broken anyway🤷🤷

    Continuing on with the battle strategies used for each fight with the best classes: 2-1 - This fight is relatively the same. After kiting all the villagers and then me getting to the "safe zone", i noticed that Ash was close to level 14 which is when he learns Rolling Fire, so i aim to get hit by Piercing Light to heal it off for EXP. Huxley later evens out his level with Ash somewhat in the meantime casting Mystic Shield on him as getting early access to Bless Weapon is also nice. 2-2 - This fight was also the same. I own the Mad Soldiers with the Chad Guradsmen but i make sure one stays alive Paralyzed just to get all the treasures. 2-3 - I normally advise to give both Kira and Clint an Herb or 2 to each just in case its really needed but most of the time, its not really needed if you play it out correctly, better safe then sorry as they say. The main party will have a easier time with Grog and Dolan destroying everything. 2-4 - In my first run i didnt fully optimize the first section of this fight but this time i showcase how you can dispatch the 4 Shooterimps with expert AI manipulation and one more to the list of millions of reasons on why Swordsman suck balls and you dont need units made just to poorly remove enemy Archers as your own are the best answer to then. So i kite then to attack my Guardsmen acting as lures, then i pick then off one by one with my own Bowmen from below. Once everyone is up is just another dream setup for Guardsmen with the advantage of high ground to the mix ;) 2-5 - The best way to approach this fight is to place your units always in a formation style that i use in the video where the main strategy is to strategically make the enemies aim in the units you want then too especially the Imps to attack the Guardsmen. The formation also is placed in such a way that one cast of Healing Plus is enough to heal everyone needed at once. Once you strategically remove every enemy where only Magnus remain, make sure you move in such a way where Magnus will expose himself the most casting Raimbow Storm to hit the most amount of your units as possible. The spell is very weak as it barely even damages the Guardsmen. Once he gets his one cast off, its time for you to heal up and then make Magnus look like a scrub Rugal Style ;) 2-6 - The strategy used is relatively the same but more optimized this time around to avoid some of the RNG of how the Dogs move by cutting off most of the ways possible from the start better.

    Here i will detail the strategies used for each fight: 1-1 - This fight is very similar to the other runs in that you wanna make sure to get as much EXP possible with Ash by letting him get damaged to use Faerie Light and to also make Zoot use Self Heal for more EXP. 1-2 - Like always have Diego kill all the War Ghosts, get all the treasures and have the Hunterimps damage Ash for EXP purposes. I did cut most of the process this time around since its the same as previous runs but a slight miscalculation on my end and bad luck with a terrible defense boost meant i had to reload a inbattle save here. 1-3 - This fight is similar to my previous runs but i did optimize the whole party level here this time around. 1-4 - In this fight this time around the CPU wasnt cooperating. As i showed in my previous runs, the AI will favor attacking units where it can attack from the best advantageous positions but sometimes when you have a unit that is way higher leveled compared to the rest, the AI might switch and target your low leveled units even if they only can ever get then from the front. Normally what i said above is a AI logic when the enemy knows the attack will be a kill, but like every rule there are exceptions and sometimes Vandal Hearts AI does "break". I do the same leveling trick here but i cut only to showcase the end result. 1-5 - With all my units Advanced, theres no need for me to stall here so i quickly end Death Ant's life. Just like my destruction run, you can see how hard it is to deal damage beyond a minimum amount to the Death Ant but Clint this time was able to deal alot more then before. Nova Key - I used this trial to level up Grog but since i showcased this in my destruction run, i cut it and only show the end where Clint asserts his dominance over the shitty Soldier class as the Chad Guardsman ;) 1-6 - The dream map when Grog and Clint are Guardsmen ;) They will just be throwing lifeless pirate bodies in the ocean like they are nothing. In the end Grog asserts his dominace yet again over Hassan by one shotting him silly ;)

    Continuing on with the battle strategies for each fight: 6-1 - Just like my other destruction run, you can simply advance while casting Plasma Wave but the difference this time is that the other units, especially the lack of Salamander and Snipers means Vandalier will do most of the job however, theres no need this time around to keep the other troops in the back. Making Kane ook like a scrub is a must here ;) 6-2 - This fight is always free regardless but do make sure one enemy stays alive until every treasure is taken. 6-3 - Being higher level here means less damage overall from magic which makes the Dark Mages and Xeno way less threatning. Just beware of then focusing on your Sky Lords as the added damage magic and the Mega Basilisks can add up despite the level difference. You know already what to make of Xeno ;) 6-4 - Here you will witness the Sky Lord class fail as the enemies decided to focus on Amon and even being 6 to 7 levels higher and the class still manages to show why its not good... After that fail i just decide to solo with Vandalier just like i did in my Challenge Run but this time only for the most part and not entirely. I hope Dolf already has his Will written ;) That is it for the Destruction Run 2 of Vandal Hearts but theres still more to come. I hope everyone who watched enjoyed the videos and stay tuned for more :)

    Continuing on with the battle strategies with each fight: 6-1 - With the higher levels, i dont need to be careful with my units so i can just advance without issue but i still need to beware when Kane turns into the Black Knight as the combined damage of Plasma Wave, Magic Arrow and a Crimson Shooter is still pretty considerable when aimed at a Sky Lord. In the end i make sure that Kane is my bitch ;) 6-2 - As always this fight is free. Just put any character on the Tricket tiles close to then and then just give then the Welcome to Die treatment. Of course let one stay alive until every treasure is taken. 6-3 - As always the combined damage of 5 Enchanters in one character can spell major disaster but being higher leveled significantly reduces the magic damage taken here so its gonna take a few more attacks focused on troop after the 5 casts to kill then. Dont forget to make Xeno look like a scrub... unless he chooses to do it on his own XD! 6-4 - The lack of Salamander means its not possible to use the Wyrm Fang + Salamander combo to wipe out most of the opposition instantly so instead i position everyone just like i did in my other run but this time the added levels means pretty much everyone gets one shotted except the Mega Guardians if they attack the Sky Lords as even being 6 levels ahead of then, the Armor resistence to the Airman class is just way too good. In the end just make Dolf look like a scrub x2 and the rest is history ;)

    Here i will provide the battle strategies used in each trial: Nova Key - This trial is pretty simple and the movement range of the team will make sure that you can get on the top even before the enemy Airmen can despite the lack of Snipers into the team. Once you can surround then, use your Duelists to kill the Imps, your Sky Lords to kill the Buccaners and your Ninjas to kill the Golems. Earth Key - In this trial you do have to be careful with your Sky Lords and even the weak Archers can still deal abit more then minimum damage to then. Once the regular Archers are gone and only the Bowmen are alive, its time to retreat the Sky Lords and let your Ninjas and Duelists chase then down one by one. Mana Key - This trial is always the same, just Paralyze the Brigand and let your Sky Lord take the Prism then make the Brigand look like a scrub ;) Chaos Key - With the lack of the Salamander spell, the best strategy to use here is to place all your Sky Lords into the water and just let then get attacked and with the counter, each Golem will go down as the water will tank their damage to single digits with the exception of the Gold Golems but still low enough to not be a issue. The Armor Class resistence to Airman class is apparent in here as Sky Lords struggle to damage then. After the bottom wave is gone of the strategy in the video to move the boxes and keep some Golems Paralyzed until the Prism is taken. Logos Key - With the lack of Snipers and Poison Magic, the only way you can make the enemies above come to you is to damage then with either Piercing Ray or Dark Star as these are the only spells with enough reach then team has. Use the water in the beginning to your adavantage to lure some Salamanders into attacking your Sky Lords which will take no damage in the water from then but be careful of the Basilisks as they are capable of doing over 100 damage to then. Abuse Spellbind on Guardians and minimize damage taken back from their counters by surrounding then and let Ash deal a big hit from the back to destroy then. If a Dark Mage is able to target someone, make sure they target either your Ninjas or Ash until they dry their MP out. After that heal all the damage taken and keep on moving as you repeat the strategies above. Heaven Key - The lack of Dragoons will hurt the hardest in this trial but the ability of the Airman class to be able to bypass enemies at the cost of 2 tiles of movement range will really come into play here to infiltrate with the help from the Perfect Guard spell as i leveled my Ninjas in a way to take advantage of their base class MP gain to be able to cast Perfect Guard multiple times. The real problem in this fight are the enemy Dragoons as i dont have a good way to deal massive damage to then as not even magic will do enough both thanks to level range and the boss enemy Armor class privilege of increase magic defense. In the end i relied alot more on the Ninjas here as they are 2 levels above the rest and those 2 levels makes alot of difference in the damage taken and dealt.

    Continuing on with the battle strategies for each fight: 5-1 - Being high leveled here with a bunch of Sky Lords means you can exploit the 20% water defense bonus to the point of being immune to damage. Just beware of the poison of the Acid Ghosts. Harmful Waves from the Death Angels will not damage then enough at this level range either. Just make sure one enemy is paralyzed to be able to open the Mimic chest then own it later. Again poison from Acid Ghosts is the only annoyance here. 5-2 - The hardest fight on my challenge run becomes trivial with all the levels under my belt. Just gotta make sure that both buried treasures are taken before Kurtz runs out of MP as otherwise he will just kill himself. 5-3 - This fight is pretty straightforward and more than one meaning actually as you can also just advance with everyone without worry. Make sure that one enemy is paralyzed at the end to open the Mimic chest. You know the deal next ;) 5-4 - On a destruction run, the one thing you have to worry about is killing the Salamander prematurely before getting both the Spear and the Key. Otherwise the only annoyance here is also the potential poison from Acid Ghosts. 5-5 - In this fight you will witness the first fail of the Duelist Class (Of course...) as even being 7 levels ahead of the Crimson Armors, they still fail to one shot then from the front...yeah i wish i was making this up but that goes to show how pitiful their damage is compared to Dragoons. The rest of the fight is also straightforward to the point of it being a slaughterfest. Of course making Kane and Sabina look like a scrub is a no brainer ;) 5-6 - This fight is pretty straightforward and you can advance everyone without worries. The Basilisks on the unreachable platform initially can be dealt with by using Spellbind and making sure they stay forever Paralyzed until the next platform is up where i can reach and destroy then.

      @@Rugalbernstein777 going very slow because i could have the other one going kind of in the background while doing some work, but this one i really have to pay attention to. that battle in the poison plains was amazing. having to hide kira behind a tree to avoid shooter imps, the must use of terrain and counters. it really forces you to use everything you have and think very strategically, really enjoying it. ever play a series called Kingdom under fire? just curious.

Oh yeah before getting The levels these earlier battles i do have tô go on like a normal run and The Kira bit on The Swamp is almost helpless for her as a Hawknight as Just One Shooterimp hit will deal massive damage. The bit about The terrain is só true man as it helps every troop but its a saving Grace tô Airman The most as Water tiles giving a 20% boost does make then situationally tanky. Never heard of this game before you mentioned here, is it a old game as well? Now i am The One curious 🤣🤣

      @@Rugalbernstein777 yeah i end up really wanting to pay attention because you have to be so much more careful, its alot of fun. its an old OG xbox game, i think there were a couple versions, the one i played was Kingdom under fire heroes. very niche game i dont expect you to know it. your use of strategy particularly having to pull the enemy around this time around just reminded me of it a bit. the other VH like games i played were tactics ogre: the knight of lodis (ds game i think) and FF tactics (psp)

The tactical rpgs i played The most were Vandal Hearts 1 and 2, Real Robot Battle Line ( mixes many Mecha anime into it like Gundam) and bit of FF tactics (i do prefer Vandal Hearts through😉).

    In Vandal Hearts the chance of you blocking from the back is 0% without the use of Perfect Guard however, if at any point a regular attack would result in 0 after all the calculations, then the game will simply use the block animation instead of displaying a 0. Because of the way Vandal Hearts damage/defense formula works, you are always able to do a minimum damage to the opponent no matter how high the difference in levels would be but theres a catch: The player characters can receive a random boost to their stats that range from 0.80 to 1.20 per level. This boost is not cumulative as Vandal Hearts has hard coded stats for each class at each level and the differences are applied with equipment for you and enemies. To get all of the above in your favor for you to take 0 damage from the back from attack: it requires a high defense boost, it requires another outside defense boost provided by the tiles (in this case Ash is on a Tricket tile which gives a 15% increase to the defense boost), it requires that you be some levels ahead of the enemy so its already doing minimum damage and finally but not mandatory is for your unit to have a advantageous matchup against the attacker which in this case its an Archer attacking a Knight advanced to a Swordsman equivalent which takes less damage from Archers. One thing to keep in mind when your character blocks an attack because its taking 0 damage is that its technically still taking the hit, so in a situation you were to take 0 damage from an enemy that can inflict status on you, it can happen that it shows you blocking but you still get Poisoned or Paralyzed as actually blocking would reduce the chance of affliction to 0.

    getting back to it, have to admit those challenge runs remind me why i never go for vandalier, man they can be a slog. loving the kane fight, also like how they are literally just yelling at each other over the battle. twin salamander lead is just iconic for VH at this point. also noticed Clint missed his return strike but dolan nailed his, classic. clint always felt like a wet paper bag to me a bit, he just lacked enthusiasm for his work XD

      @@Lawliet117 The trials can really test your patience especially when you get tô The Chaos Key and of course The Logos Key which wins The award for The longest map in The game. Oh yeah The Kane fight is always amusing and i agree with you with The Twin Salamander setup, its just way too good 🤣🤣. About The Clint vs Dolan bit on The counter, thats pure RNG as unlike Vandal Hearts 2, The AGL stat doesnt apply The difference when it comes tô hitting but instead only for blocking and its mostly Class dependent. AGL difference does influence The likehood of you getting inflicted with status and you inflicting status yourself but that is also Class dependent and even level dependent. The Characters thenselfs are actually all equal assuming they are using the equipment for The same Class with Ash getting special treatment as He hits harder and takes hits better on both ends compared tô a Duelist. All other characters will be entirely dependent on The hidden stat boost you can get between level ups and in this run i know for a fact that i got unlucky and Clint got a somewhat low defense boost compared tô Dolan and Grog. Boosts are almost unknown tô pretty much most Vandal Hearts players but as soon as you level up beyond what you normally get in a normal run, you can clearly see The difference.

Vandal Hearts because of this hidden boosts going makes it só that every playthrough even if you use The same exact Class composition like 50 times in a row, all those 50 times will feel different. The boosts more é specifically The attack boost affects Magic damage and thats why Eleni and Zohar both casting Salamander will most likely deal different damage as opposed tô a bunch of enemy Dark Mages casting Evil Stream in One character as enemies have static boosts At 1.00 só Evil Stream will always deal The same as long as you dont level up (in which case a bad defense boost might increase The damage you take despite being a level higher). Oh yeah trust me man i only discovered this bit about Vandal Hearts stat boosts pretty recently, then everything about The game clicked for me completely.

    Continuing on with the battle strategies for each fight with the worst classes: Mana Key - I do the Mana Trial once quickly with the intention of leveling up Darius to match the party's level. 4-1 - Arguably the hardest fight in the game in a normal but this is a destruction run so just like last... the Crimson scrubs are no match for me and with me using the worst classes, destroying then like that makes then look much worse... XD! 4-2 - This fight is always on the easier side regardless but since i lack Salamander and Snipers, i need to chase the Bugaboos down. Making the Sky Lords stay on water tiles will basically null their damage. 4-3 - No Salamander available to almost end the fight in just one turn easily but the other strat i can do while i am overleveled is to just make the enemies kill thenselfs by attacking me if my units cant reach anyone. 4-4 - While i dont have Snipers in this party, the overall better movement range of the whole party means its easier for everyone to keep up the pace and never stop moving. Just make sure to get Dallas into heal range with spells so that you dont accidentally kill him beforehand ;) 4-5 - Even with this map having alot of Barren tiles, Ninjas and Sky Lords can move without any movement cost on then alongside climbing multiple steps easily and with the higher levels, theres no threat of getting ganked to death. Poison from Acid Ghosts can be annoying so make sure to cure it as soon as possible.

    Continuing with the battle strategies used for each fight with the worst classes: 3-1 - As always this fight is always free so either give the Sparkies the "Welcome to Die" treatment or chase then down ;) Nova Key - Here i use the Nova Trial again to level up Zohar as a Mage before advancing him to a Ninja so he can keep the MP gain of the Mage class which is 2 MP per level instead of the Monk/Ninja 1 MP. 3-2 - Same strategy as my challenge run but with the better movement of the Final advancement of these classes, it compensates somewhat for the lack of Salamander as i can position each character on the corner to make sure the Sparkies can get to then and kill thenselfs for the maximum money payout. 3-3 - Same strategy of the destruction run, just make sure that Clive stays away from the center of the map otherwise he will get completely destroyed. In the meantime i make zohar either cast Perfect Guard or Mystic Energy on Sara so he gets to level 38 like Huxley and Sara. 3-4 - Same strategy as before. With the Ninjas immunity to Paralyses and their great movement alongside being high leveled, the Blood Bats annoyance is a non issue. 3-5 - Same strategy as always, just wait till turn 5 and completely own all the enemy troops one by one. Of course i cannot forget to make Lando look like a scrub ;) 3-6 - Not having access to Salamander means i cant completely own every single but one Juggernaut in one cast but the fight still goes on smoothly. I just make sure Eleni takes some hits in the beginning so i can level Darius up. 3-7 - The lack of both Salamander and Snipers means i cant do anything to the enemies above with just Darius being able to snipe some units above him. Otherwise the fight is a cakewalk and the Blood Bats cant annoy me wth Paralyses if i just make then aim at my Ninjas. Ending the fight making Dumas look like a Dumbass is also a no brainer ;)

    Continuing on with the battle strategies for each fight below: 2-1 - This fight is mostly the same as last time with the worst classes challenge run. 2-2 - This fight is also mostly the same but here i make sure to get both Huxley Sara and Eleni as high leveled as possible as they will be staying in their base classes for awhile to get their Monk classes to have high MP so i will need levels to compensate the lack of Advancement. 2-3 - This fight is actually abit tougher this time cause i have 3 units not Advanced so i have to be abit more careful with then here. Overall strategy remains the same with extra careful on Clint and Kira since Kira will die easily to the Shooterimps as well as both Diego and Amon as here you can witness the first fail of the Hawknight class versus Archers... 2-4 - Overall strategy for this fight will be mostly the same as i make sure to exploit the 20% defense bonus of the water with my Hawknights. After everything is gone, i off screen level Huxley and Sara to level 38 and the everyone else to level 36 with Ash at 35. After that its time to Advance everyone ;) 2-5 - With everyone overleveled, this fight is literally a cake walk and Magnus as explained last time, wont do anything because of how the AI logic works when going against high level units for casting magic...So i slowly make my way in and make Magnus look like a scrub XD! 2-6 - With the overall better movement of this class composition, this is arguably the only fight where this team is actually somewhat better.

    not gonna lie. i am actually possibly one of the few people that don't rag on this game. i feel like it's fairly difficult and has some really bullshit parts(especially with some of the reploid placements) but it's fairly difficult compared to the other games. holy crap some of the spots you died in made me rage just watching. it looked like it was utter bullshit plain and simple. You have to be spot on on some of these jumps. you made it look as easy as it gets for the difficulty you were playing on. one of the big reasons i love your content(and have been watching for the last 6 months) is cause you're not afraid to show mistakes and i respect you for that as well as the details you go into. this is not an easy game in fact it's far from it. But very excellent work

Memes?? At this point but yeah compared tô X4 and X5, The difficulty does go up by a large margin and even more playing on Xtreme. The only problem X6 hás is more of a annoying design choice with The Reploid rescues as they getting infected can Cost you a valuable part but that is save scummable só its impossible tô realustically lose then. The other is that X, while compared tô previous games He is more powerful by a long shot, Zero is just broken in comparison making X almost not as viable in comparison. Despite The above i love X6 as Just how more difficult it is compared tô previous ones, you are as equally capable of breaking The game as well. About The descriptions and The fails: i always make sure tô explain The more obscure stuff when i can and even techs used in The run in General só The viewers know what is happening should him/her be in doubt. The way i Record is tô show The entire experience of The run as even on a high level play, mistaken can happen só that it shows The viewers The Trouble spots and how bs it can be sometimes tô make The run as genuine as possible😊😊

    Here i will detail the strategies used in each fight in a brief manner unless it changes too much from my previous runs: 1-1 - This fight is pretty much the same, just make sure to get Ash's Faerie Lights EXP from taking damage. 1-2 - Same approach here with Diego killing the War Ghosts and using the Hunterimps to damage Ash for EXP purposes. 1-3 - Same approach in this fight as far as how i kite the Golems to easily get all the treasures. 1-4 - This battle goes the same way when it comes to the preparation to level up the entire party to level 10 later by making sure Ash gets Poisoned and one Hunter stays alive. 1-5 - This fight is the first one that shows how weak both Swordsman and Hawknights are compared to Guardsman as they cant even damage the Death Ant beyond the minimum amount. I purposely didnt advance Huxley and Eleni as i will explain in the next chapter my strategy to make then better as the Monk/Ninja class. Nova Key - I use this trial with the intention to level up Grog for advancement purposes. Here comes the first fail of the Hawknights as their terrible weakness to Archers bites then hard in the ass. This team also doesnt have alternative ways of dealing with enemy Armor class enemies beyond magic so the Dark Golems can be a threat as well as they also can deal alot of damage. 1-6 - This fight is pretty much the same just not as free compared to having one Guardsman guarding each corner of the ship. This also shows how weak other classes are versus enemy Armor as none of the characters can one shot Hassan from the front unlike Grog or Clint as Guardsman which they can easily pull it off at level 10.

    i love the C.G. captain fights, aside from the train a bit. this so reinforces 2 mages though, after the level with salamander they put a literal death squad of CG heavies right next to you as sally fodder to cement how badass it is when you see it toast that whole group, then your like "oh guess its 2 casters every playthrough now" the snow fight is a little railroady as for some reason you stop to chat on this lone bridge, but we can say ambush is ambush, like the change of background we get to see, i dont think there is another snow level? EDIT also sally pit is boring because the lava is too restrictive, they could have opened up a few more paths but still let the little guy keep his map mobility edge, i think he should have maybe been ranged or like a fleeing caster, watching dolan counter attack put him in the dirt was as funny as it was sad, what a man. XD

      @@Lawliet117 Same here😊! I like The train fight as The music there is unique and its fighting on a train in itself i already find it baddass. Oh yeah this Chapter is where The Difference in viability of Enchanters Vs Ninjas becomes a no brainer when The game starts ambushing you with high level Crimson Armors on your back with a Priest tô heal then. These High level C. Armors on a normal playthrough will even kill your Dragoons thanks tô sheer numbers and strenght if all 4 aim in Just one. Later One in Sabina fight when theres 6 of then all At level 29 when you would be At 25 normally makes it even worse if you dont have Enchanters Or are overleveled. I dont think theres Another snow map besides The One versus Kurtz. Also Kurtz map Just makes Duelists look even worse then they already are as The Crimson Hawks will Just trounce then😳😳. The Salamander fight is The only reason The game forces you tô have a Sky Lord for a 100% item completion because of The Logos key being in The lava... If Salamander had spells like you said it would be much easier tô get the Spear and The key as i would not need tô worry Just killing it abrutly before picking everything. Oh yeah Dolan Just One shotting it always feels goid😊😏

    Here i will detail the battle strategies for act 6 with Vandalier: 6-1 - In this fight i decided to showcase what happens if you manage to kill Kane before Xeno turns him into the Blacknight. To do this you have to cast Plasma waves in a way that makes him move to keep healing the Warlock and the Shooter. If you can keep him in there, then you put a arrow in his scrubby face for the kill. If you kill him this way, you dont get the Caliburn and Kane himself wont award any money has he doesnt even appear in the victory menu. Later i just reload a save before i do this and kill everything as normal before i make his Blacknight form look like a scrub ;) 6-2 - This battle is even more free now but i make sure to keep at least one enemy alive to collect everything. 6-3 - With the added levels i dont even need to be careful as all 4 Black Mages + Xeno combined cannot kill Ash. In the they decided to aim on Darius just like last time so he gets a close call here again XD! 6-4 - Here i decided to make Vandalier go in mostly solo just because he can ;) Then later i kill everything but i let Dolf as a Dark Angel have abit of a spotlight as he just got owned free before doing anything in the last runs so i give him a chance to do something...only to be made a complete fool later Rugal style ;) And thats that for the destruction run but Vandal Hearts content is far from over. Another destruction run will start next week so stay tuned for more Vandal Hearts awesomess and thanks everyone for watching :)
