This song is a reminder that I haven't spent enough time out in the country lately. While I thank the good Lord that I've grown up all over the place, from the deep woods to the city and experienced so very much in my life, I still pray, Lord, take me back to the mountains where I feel closer to You! And get the city air out of my hair! LOL!

I didn’t have much of a father figure growing up…that being said, my mom introduced Guy to me some 20 odd years ago. His Keepers album. I’ll be 30 next year. I feel that I’ve lived with this generation before my time, even though I’ll never touch it. But I feel it. And Guy helped me learn in the ways I needed to to understand myself-without having that stability in my family. Still learning. Still struggling.. but damn this man strikes a chord a mile deep in me every time I hear his voice and his words. I’ve been writing to make sense of it all, to be okay, just as he did so well; and to touch that void with your mind and heart and a pen…I hope I can find my words too. I feel really special being part of this community, at this age. Thank all of you for appreciating this man. And thank all of you for being you, y’all get it. -Wes

Saw him live magnificent

I’ve known about Guy Clark about 20 years now. He’s one of these artists that I’m always humming. When im alone in the car I’ll sing his songs out loud. He did a song called Randall Knife. Ive memorized the lyrics and sing it all the time. This video was really special to watch.

I have heard of Ramblin Jack, gots his music. Tom Waits who wrote "I don't wanna grow up" and i love it. TVZ who was a REAL good friend to Guy n vice versa. And to BLAZE FOLEY also... Ginsberg, more power to her for being such a defendant of female and human rights. Kerouac who was an impact but around for so little. But never ever had a DOG PIE or a rainbow thingy, seems that to be an artist, we have to go to great stretches of famine, hu ? Guy Clark just left us, keep rhyming "up there", probably lots of angels need help !

Three days later I'm hearing this song again. I know where the Red River is. I know where San Antonio is. But in the beginning my thought was of Red River, New Mexico. Been there also and really nice place in the summer, out of the way place 😇 !

I'm an old musician and I've listen to music all my life it, Guy the mastercraftsman.I had the pleasure listen to him talk, play and sing and when his gig was finished he joined me for a beer so laid back and down to earth, this is one of his first songs I never knew he recorded it .
