Love these kind of videos. I've got the elitewheels ent 2.0 as a second wheelset for my gravel bike and they are so good. My next step will be building a road bike around them. I really hope they keep these quality products at low prices and don't go the premium only route.
Yeh when my bike shop said I'd have to spend $1000+ on carbon wheels, I was slightly disappointed because I'd already spent $4k on the bike, and now I'd have to dish out another $1k. Very happy to have stumbled across EliteWheels though. Like I said in the video, they saved me a lot of money!

What is the Garmin mount called you have on your bike? the one with two clip ins? And what type of garmin alarm is that you mentioned?
The mounts are Trek's priority system. They call it the Blendr System. Very well designed - if a little pricey. But worth it for the clean handlebars. And the Garmin has an in-built alarm feature, where you can activate it, and when the Garmin feels vibration, it sets the alarm off. Quite handy when popping into a coffee shop real quick.
try some knock off team jersey like the Ineos in 2:37 or some UAE knockoff jersey and reveiw the quality lol
I was surprised how good quality the cheaper AliExpress jerseys were, but now I have the Maap jersey, I have no reason to buy more AliExpress jerseys. Besides, I have to stop spending money now!
@@fitin30challenge fr like its gumble when u scrollin to those online shop website, it feels like u need it even tho u don't
You can buy e really cheap cable that you rant about if that is only the issue. It is standard band or watch charging cable. So for 1$ more on top of 31$ problem solved :) I keep my cables on the bike that I need on the field. I just don't like magnetic cable on the bike when you are off road, it will slip away instead of charging it... And you count on it that it is charging your light when you need it. And it charges slowly lol Guess for the road bike it is ok. Nice video :)
Nice, I didn't know that. I use the SeeMee 200 rear light now anyway which is superior in terms of brightness and build quality, so I'll just continue using that. But good to know I can buy a cheap proprietary charging cable for the other rear light.
@@fitin30challenge Yeah I know you pretty much said what you think about other standards XD guess you at least can buy a new iPhone now with USB C XD or could stick to Android for the principles that you had about Micro USB and other cables XD I am using just the Ali S**t for too long. One of my bikes has still lights from 6-7 years ago Still working great :) so nothing wrong with Micro USB IMO.

Indeed! Wise words ;)
Cool video Mike! We are living in the same city I guess. I’m training for a full Ironman but give myself 3 years. Success!
Ah nice! Which district are you in? We'll probably be doing our full Ironman around the same time ;)

I hope he meant 6:45
Ah, good catch lol. Yes, 6:45, not 7:45 :)
I finally made a cameo!!! Keep up the hard work!
Still waiting for you to start posting on your own channel 😆
Sorry if you already answered to this, but why not start with an Olympic distance triathlon ? I'm also starting the sport, and will try to increase the distance gradually
Two reasons: 1. When I started, I was pretty average in terms of athleticism. I could probably have gone straight to a full Ironman, but I don't see much downside to starting with a 70.3, and then doing the full Ironman a year later. 2. As cliche as this is, for me, it's about the journey not the destination. After my 70.3, I will then do a full, and then onto the next challenge. I just want to take my time, enjoy the process, and stay injury free.
great channel. What the name of the app where you track your training?
Habitify. Great app, especially for the widgets. I use them daily.
You're channel is criminally underrated. I'm really enjoying it, please keep it up! :)
Thanks Steven, I appreciate it. Still deciding whether to upload a video once a week or once every two weeks, but I definitely won't be stopping ;)
I'll be filming a Q&A video soon, so if you have any questions, you can write them here and I'll answer them in the next video 😇
How do you make sure you recover well and dont burn out?
What app do you use for tracking training?(Home Screen widgets)
really inspirational video. I'm working on getting fit myself but... i wonder why you wont go swimming in the rain, you pool is wet already.
That's a good point. When I used to go fishing with my dad as a kid. I would often ask him, "Will the fish still bite if it's raining?", and he'd always reply, "Why would they care? They're already wet." I think it's just psychological. It just feels different swimming at 12 noon under the blue sky and full sun, vs swimming at 6pm after dark in the rain.
BUY A POOL BUOY. The easiest thing a beginner swimmer can do is use one. It will help your buoyancy so you dont get tired trying not to sink. It will keep your hips higher in the water which will help your speed in the water and teach you the correct position in the water. Do your warm ups. Use the pool buoy for moat of your laps. And then take it off for the last 10mins or so. FOCUS on keeping your core tight and body straight and level.
Really good advice, and although I don't personally have a pool buoy, my swimming coach does and I train with it frequently. One of my 'issues' is that my body sinks when I swim. I recently completed an Oceanman 5k though, and a pleasant surprise swimming in saltwater was that my body was more buoyant, so I didn't sink as much as I do in a swimming pool.
Which 70.3 would you be participating?
Ironman 70.3 Da Nang in Vietnam
Hi!! Could you explain why did you choose to do fasting? What are the benefits?? Thanks!!
Im watching all of your vids rn. Really love especially cause im having similar goals as you and im also in Saigon.
Awesome, let's grab coffee sometime. Feel free to send an email to mike@mikedee.com and we can sort something out.
I would recommend a bike fit before buying the bike to know what size and adjustments you need to make to make it really comfortable, it could even save you money in the end.
Really good advice, and that's exactly what I did. Had a bike fit before buying, and after buying. Some of the best money I've spent on my bike.
hey you in saigon? Im in D2 as well and just started training for a 70.3 as well.
Yes sir - I replied to your other comment. Let's grab coffee sometime.
20 laps is 1k not 2 but enjoyed the vid. going for 100 laps is pretty bonkers!
Thanks - my bad 😅
Good stuff! I just signed up for my first triathlon and have 8 months to do the same for a 70.3.
Good luck Ray! You're going to smash it 💪🏼
I did an Ironman 70.3 in June and my advice would be to not compare yourself to others! It was a problem of mine during my previous triathlons, and only at the 70.3 finish line I appreciated my effort and the fact that, bloody hell, I finished this thing (even if I was the last female to do so)!! Also I would suggest to sign up for at least one shorter distance triathlon before the 70.3 to get some practise of the race environment and how the three disciplines feel back to back🙂 Good luck for your journey!
Really good advice junnade! As the saying goes, comparison is the thief of joy. Naturally, I do sometimes catch myself comparing my times with others that are far more experienced than me, but I try to stamp that out fast and just compete against myself.
Im doing 70.3 Victoria CA. I set 36 weeks of training but in last 3 years I have done open water and 2 full marathon distance. But I support the idea from someone that has 0 biking experience
Good luck with your 70.3 Sofia! I actually just bought my first road bike a few weeks ago. It's been a learning curve - that's for sure! I'll be posting more bike training videos in the next few weeks.
Very good video. Enjoyed it a lot!
Thank you :) I'm glad you enjoyed it. And I appreciate you commenting and supporting 💪🏼
Hi man, do you work or you have full free time to do that ironman ? because the prepa is a lot of time
I wish I had full free time to prepare for the Ironman. But yes I do work, however I'm lucky that my hours are flexible because I work for myself. I have a video coming out very soon going over my routine/training schedule and what my job is.
Dont aim for a half ironman, go for the full distance! Otherwise you can't call yourself an ironman. You can do it in 10 months for sure. Aim high!
True. Maybe I can call myself Tinman.
here's a life changer for some: i've managed to find some clear goggles with a correction (-2.0 for me) for 20 quid
Where are you living?
Saigon, Vietnam
What’s your current swim pace?
Honestly, no idea. Although a couple of weeks ago I swam my first Oceanman 5k in 1 hour 48 minutes.
I am running my first 10 k this Sunday . Why do you have such goood video editing and. Shooting by the way
Good luck with your first 10k! Have you been training much for it? I have good video editing because I am amazing video editors 🤩
Keep up the great work! Can I ask what 70.3 you are signed up for?
I'll be doing the Ironman 70.3 Vietnam 2025 in Da Nang.
I am also learning how to swim for a olympic triathlon. Great video and series
Wow, good luck with the triathlon! That's impressive.
This series is awesome. Keep up the great work, you have been so motivating for me.
Thank you so much. Ironically, me motivating some of you, circles back and motives me.
High quality video, especially given your channel is so new. I’m sure this will blow up soon
I appreciate the support. Thank you - and I hope so ;)
You need to be sure to progressivly overload for training. Dont go from 30-45min to 3hrs. You need to build up to that.
Sorry my friend but a 70.3 distance triathlon is not an "Ironman".. But the Ironman company organizes 70.3 (half distance) events as well as 5150's, which is a a 1/4 distance event. A Ironman full distance event is a 3.8 swim/180Km bike ^& a full marathon run.. & don't worry, if you live a sensible lifestyle you can still do these at a much older age, (I'm 55..) Better to spend another year conditioning yourselve & learn the correct biomechanics, then to overextend. You can do permanent damage from poor technique at any age.. If anything, enjoy the process.
les goooo
Good luck with your challenge. Based on where you’re at, I’d suggest getting some swim coaching as soon as you can. It sounds like you are holding your breath / not breathing out underwater whilst swimming and that’s why you’re getting tired. Having completed a 70.3 and other longer individual events (5km swim, 200km bike, 50km run) I’d suggest in addition to swim coaching, you build your time on the bike. 90km as a standalone event is not unachievable for someone with a base level of fitness but being fresh enough for the half marathon requires an efficient swim and coming off the bike in decent shape.
Really good advice, and that's exactly what I did. I hired a swimming coach, and the video I uploaded after this is titled "I Swam 10 Laps Every Day for 30 Days". Spoiler: I went from only being able to swim 2 laps, to being able to swim 100 laps, in 30 days.
Holy gatekeeping about the distance in the comments. Don’t get so butthurt about calling a 70.3 an ironman. Nobody normal cares
I didn't know it was such a sensitive subject 🥲 I don't want to have to say "70.3" EVERY time I say the words "Ironman". I mean, surely once is enough at the beginning of the video is enough 😆
No one cares as much as much as those weirdos!! Ironman is a company lol not a distance
Oh this is a 70.3. well thats entirely different to the long distance. A 70.3 you can do any weekend with some decent fitness. A full ironman you cant.
Your definition of "decent fitness" is very different to mine lol
Go for it mate, good luck! Will follow along 🙌
Thanks, I appreciate the support <3
The quality of filming, editing and communication skills on this channel is ridiculously good for a channel with such few subs. You deserve way more, and I'm looking forward to following your journey. Im in for a full Ironman in 11 months aswell
Good luck with your full Ironman in 11 months! After my 70.3, I'll definitely be doing a full.
Best of luck dude! Just watched the video and wanted to share some feedback as someone who just started doing triathlons this year. - Get specific with your race because I was confused by your video - are you doing a full Ironman or a 70.3? Because you keep saying Ironman, I feel like you mean a 70.3 or a half. - Personally, I'd say running a marathon in several months when you said you haven't done any training is almost foolish. Have you at least done any 5k, 10k, or half-marathon races yet? A Full mara is a huge undertaking and it's a big goal in itself. I just don't see how it can benefit training for a 70.3, in which you need to run a half-mara. - You aren't great at swimming and yet you are signing up for 5 kilometer ocean swim??? a 5k swim is NOT like a 5K run, at all. 5K swim is A LOT. Again in a 70.3 you only need to swim 1.9K and that's a solid distance in itself. You just don't need to do that if you real goal is a 70.3. - I highly recommend instead of doing all these huge individual sport races, sign up for a couple of sprint and olympic distance triathlons. This will help you SO MUCH more than a marathon and a 5k swim. I'd bet you be in for a humbling surprise after an Olympic distance. - I would recommend to evenly split your training each month instead of focusing on one sport every month and leaving the other two as an afterthought. Triathlon is one sport and you should train for it as such. - Please don't sign up for a Tour de France as your bike race haha :)
Haha, just the other week I was Googling what 'big' bike races there are around my area, but there really aren't many - if any at all. I agree that signing up for an Oceanman 5km when I could barely even swim 2 laps in frontcrawl could have been a bit silly. On the other hand, I need those end goals - I need something to strive towards. Because I signed up for an Oceanman 5km, I hired a swimming coach 3x a week, and I swam every day for a month. Long story short, a couple of weeks ago I swum the Oceanman 5km and - I'm not going to say it was easy - but after I swam the 5km, I could have kept going. I'll have a video going up about that soon. I had the same train of thought with the marathon. It's coming up in 2.5 months. I have a clear goal to aim towards. I can run 21km, albeit at a relatively slow pace, so 2.5 months of training more, and the marathon should be do-able.
@@fitin30challenge alright man, that's pretty amazing you can comfortably do a 5k ocean swim now! Maybe you already had a much bigger aerobic base in the first place or a lot of time to train, either way that's pretty awesome. Just be careful not get injured!
A piece of advice, don’t skip the weight lifting days in your training. That strength will be important to keeping some muscle and injury prevention. Two days of full body per week are sufficient. You can go down to one day as the race gets closer. Most every plan has this built in but many people skip this to their detriment. Other than that consistency is the key. Follow the plan and you will do great.
I appreciate the advice. I'm definitely not skipping strength training days. I'm still fitting in 3 days a week.
Sleep and recovery is best fro iron man
Agree. Not easy to do, but important.
