Country Fiddle Licks and Style
You may have learned the melody to country classics like "Faded Love" - but what do you play for the rest of the song when you are accompanying a singer? We will look together at some of the common country idioms, like suspensions, color notes like the 6th and the 9th, echoing phrases, and other ways of playing tastefully behind a singer.

How to Hear Chord Changes and the Nashville Number System
มุมมอง 550หลายเดือนก่อน
The first step is to hear the "home chord", referred to as the "1" chord. Do this by listening to the last note played or sung in any major section of a song, for example the end of a verse or chorus. Sing that note on the word "ONE" The rest of the chords are found through their relationship to "1", so when you hear a chord change, you can sing the root note on a neutral syllable, then walk up...

Having Fun with Bluegrass Rhythm Guitar - Three Advanced Techniques
This was fun! I haven’t done music since choir in high school and i don’t know any instruments. I’m dying to learn to harmonize given those limitations!
Any advice on how to grow hair out like this?
matur suksma
❤😂😢😮🎉😊
Does this relate at all to (2) playing i Dorian and (6) playing in Aeolian. Or am I that confused?
@@hutchwd I'm not sure I understand your connection. Most people who like to think of modes use dorian for minor7 chords and aeolian for regular minor chords but those aren't happening in this video
I hope I can play this in my advanced strings club at school.
@@TrainLover-wt9ix You should, it's so much fun!
Great Picture of what to expect and look for ...lots of basic information in such a short video ...Great Synopsis and Presentation 😊🎉
😂❤🎉😊
Nice camera angle 😊
Excellent Presentation, I Enjoy your pleasant and encouraging demeanor.😅🎉and the content of your instructions
Great lesson. But what happened to the focus on your camera?
Oops! I think the problem was on my end.
One of your best ever lessons Austin. You have a gift for teaching and helping folks really understand key concepts. Thanks!
@@anne-marieforer That's so kind thank you!!!! 🙏
Thanks fiddle Jesus
@@lyubotrayanov9326 😂
Great class Austin!
😊😊
What’s the name of this song? You guys are really good musicians
@@BurntRice4 Stoney Lonesome - it's a Bill Monroe fiddle tune
Playing this in different keys for a couple of minutes seems like a good thing to incorporate into a warmup routine.
@@tomsmart1970 absolutely!
amazing stuff, this tune reminds me oh a forced bible song we had ti sing at school in scotland in the 80s,..."give me oil in my lamp keep it burning....give me oil in my lamp I prey"
Super helpful!
Thank you Austin! You're an excellent teacher. This helped me tremendously.
@@laurasinclair8712 My pleasure! So glad you found this helpful :)
Thanks man! I enjoyed your bluegrass guitar lessons
My pleasure! So glad you found your way to the channel through the guitar stuff!
It's beautiful - sounds more soulful than angsty to me!
beautiful. love this.
beautiful
Superb video. There needs to be more of the same on TH-cam. In a duet setting if the person doing the harmony has a lowish range is it best to drop the tenor an octave or just sing the baritone part? ie does low tenor have any advantage over baritone?! Thanks.
Great explanation!!!!
It's a good ear training...u get a feel for the melody...👍
Beautifully clear. thanks
You want a fiddle to back you up brother?
can you make sheet music instead?
@@FF23392 I recommend staying away from sheet music when learning to play non-classical styles. Ozzy Osbourne certainly didn't use it! It's a major crutch in learning to communicate musically with non classical players. Spending time learning in this way develops your audiation ability, pitch memory, and practical musical skills.
My right ear enjoyed this! In all seriousness thank you for the lesson subbed
So glad I found this, thank you!!🥳🙏🏻
Great video and method! Do you recommend actually transcribing into written notation? Is writing it out a helpful part of learning by ear?
@@lannyf.9652 I almost never do this nowadays but I did start that way. It can be helpful when starting because pitch memory takes time to develop.
What app are you using?
@@iammalianjasmine This is TH-cam and the transpose extension

Thank you. My Violin Teacher has been having me practice this -- and I've been wondering "why"?? I'll work on it more.
@@KellyCordovaArmer I've personally found them so much more useful for improvising over chords and for understanding the underlying Harmony behind melodies. It's also helpful in playing melodies on the fly without having to search for random notes
Does it work for an "old violin" that hasn't been played in a long time? I just purchased a really old violin. The Luthier replaced strings & bridge as well as other parts -- it sounds so dull to me. I'm so sad. Maybe playing more will improve the sound, I hope!!
