Produced and directed by MWT’s Head of Engagement, Graham Makepeace-Warne, "Wildlife Remembered" delves into the concept of shifting baseline syndrome, a phenomenon where successive generations witness a decline in wildlife, accepting it as the new norm. Through heartfelt interviews with local residents, the film paints a vivid picture of the diminishing presence of wildlife in the Isle of Man....

The Balearic Shearwater, a species endemic to the Balearic Islands, is considered the most endangered seabird in Europe. Following the International Action Plan drafted in 2011 by the SEO/Birdlife, France approved in 2020 its own National Action Plan (NAP) in support of this species. This plan primarily aims to reduce the pressures exerted on the species, such as interactions with fisheries, na...

Oystercatchers, cuckoos or a bit of a dove, a cockerel and hens, woodpecker, gulls, blackbird alarm call,
I wish i participated in your volunteer program
Verbalase watching this: :u I thought that lost my bird pet.
It's a wonderful enterprise & so important; The way forward 😀
It sounds like something was trying to get into the nest, so mana brought out her entire arsenal of mimicry to drive the potential predator off. I definitely heard cuckoo and barn owl in there.
Sounds like a woodpecker attack
How do they get back to the nest safety? I know herring gulls prey on eachothers chicks so walking through the colony seems dangerous. Edit: Mistake on my part, that's great black backed gulls. Not herring gulls.
When old enough to ring, the chicks are too big to be predated by other gulls. After ringing they are placed on the ground and they return to their nests quite safely. Surprisingly, during the whole process, the adults take off and just circle over head. They come back down and find their chicks as soon as we leave.
@@manxwildlifetrust6289 Emberrasing mistake on my part, that should have been great black backed not herring gulls.
Hi @@chestnut4860, good question as I was also concerned when we filmed this. Whilst doing this, the adults circle above keeping an eye on their own young. Once the young have been ringed they are released and, as soon as we retire from the site, the adults return to their young and look after them as normal. Graham
Congratulations on the continued success of your business John.
Nice intro, Leigh. REALLY hope to visit en familie one day. When do you think is best time? Thx.
Best times May-August, but come any time, it’s a great place…
