    What were your laser settings for your engrave? I'm trying to do something similar but can't get my engrave deep enough. Did you do multiple passes?

    • @InteractiveRealm
      @InteractiveRealm 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You should be able to achieve the depth in one pass, though it depends on your lasers power. Using 1/8th acrylic, you only need to engrave half the depth on each side and sandwich the acrylic in the middle. I dont have exact settings but if you're using a glowforge basic or pro, the basic engrave setting should get you what you need.. maybe with some adjustments.

    💥 start at the bottom, and the weight of each plank will push down slightly and close up the gap between each one as you go up.. your way they are inclined to open up as you go. 🤟🏼

    • @InteractiveRealm

      No need for studs.. construction adhesive holds the boards to the walls. The brad nails i used wouldnt even hit the studs.. they were to temporary hold while the adhesive dries. And yes we shouldve started from the bottom.

    Hi. What kind of wood u use? Not all will be nice like that???

    • @InteractiveRealm
      @InteractiveRealm 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's just pine, actually. You'll want a softer wood as the torching and wire brushing removes the top burned layer leaving more grain giving it that aged look. Other woods you could use are red wood, cedar and cypress. Along with pine, all of these woods are good for indoor and outdoor use and are soft woods.

    Do you have these instructions written out? I can't figure out how you got the acrylic to sit on the wood without falling through. It looks etched then cut, or the outline was cut thicker for the back?

    • @ivory6418
      @ivory6418 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just saw the answer below! 🤣

    • @InteractiveRealm
      @InteractiveRealm 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have them written... but basically front and back are the same (back is obviously flipped horizontal) but each cut out is also engraved creating a little lip around the cut. The depth of the engrave is half the width of the plywood. Plywood and acrylic are both 1/8th thick. So engravings are 1/16th thick. But combine each side together it creates a space for the acrylic to set into making not fall out.

    I know Im late to the party... Excellent video. I notice you both started from the top down... All the manufacture videos have them starting form the bottom. Was there a reason for starting at the top? Also I noticed you ended up painting spots.... I hate painting so I was considering dark brown window caulk... Your thoughts? I am covering a huge wall 8.5 ft high buy 31.5 ft long....

    • @InteractiveRealm
      @InteractiveRealm 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! And actually I don't remember why we started at the top. I think it was just in case there was a half plank at the end then it wouldn't be too noticeable at the bottom. The chalk might be fine since it would be behind the wood then and no one could rub it off at that point. Most people I've seen paint the whole wall but I didn't think we needed to do that.

      @Richard Woodward no worries I used to be and actually right now am again a netsuite developer. Woodworking started as a side business. An arcade sounds like a great idea and I think the aged barn walls would totally fit the design. Maybe throw some wooden stools and some video game artwork.
