You have got yourself a nice 986! I know you enjoy running that machine! Does the heat and a/c work? Thank you for sharing your beautiful homestead with us!
Thank you. It needs some work done to it but nothing unreasonable for it’s age. Yes, the heat and a/c both work which is great.
It is absolutely beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
Could you text me the gear ratio for planting sweet corn. What is the spacing and depth in soft plowed ground?
Thanks
Wow! Perfect hill for sledding! What a cool video! Thank you for sharing!
I have a Kubota BX2680 with 300 hours on it and this tractor has been nothing but trouble since buying it new. My last BX was trouble free for over 20 years. This will be my last Kubota.
That’s disappointing to hear. Good luck with whatever you get next!
Greetings from Australia, I know you did this years ago but I just wanted to thank you. I'm 70yo and have the BX23s and I hate having to sharpen the blades as the deck that I have to manually lift up weighs a ton and I have no concrete surface to work on.
A smooth surface to roll the deck on definitely makes it easier. Thanks!
Have the Same "Rig", & can agree with the 16 miniutes of "First Stage" to mount the Back-hoe. Then to "Re-Convertalate"; this Is where the "Time & Torture" start Pileing Up....about another 25-28miniutes;= those 3point Arms are HEAVY & gravity is NO longer yer friend. Have only done this "Time&Torture Conversion " Twice in 7 Years.....the Backhoe STAYS on the Tractor & does ZERO Three-point Werk! ( l use a WHOLE OTHER Tractor for for this)!!!! Thank you Sir for the Excelent vidio and happy safe tractoring. Best wishes with all your endeavours.
Thank you. I’ve done the three point arms a bunch of times now which has made it easier but they are definitely heavy and hard to deal with
Thank you and Happy New Year to you and your family too! Praying 2025 will be a blessed and healthy year for y’all!
Thank you!
It is counterintuitive, but if you want more hay on the left hand side, those aluminum tines need to be moved to the right as you have done. You may need to move the left most tines to the right too. This is per the manual. Your aluminum tines look pretty good, almost new. As I recall they should be around 14.5 inches long, some old balers, those tines are wore down several inches. When you feed hay into these type NH balers, you want to the hay to come into the pickup on the LH/bale chamber side vs the right. This is opposite of JD balers. When the hay is thin, in addition to merging windrows and increasing the ground speed, you can lower the rpm’s a bit to better fill the pickup. Our NH ran best full out at 540 pto rpm’s in normal hay. Good balers.
@@HumbleHaymakers Thanks. The manual says to move them to the right and I did at first but was still a little low on hay getting to the far left side of the bale chamber. I’m hoping that moving the left time farther to the left it will push hay farther to the left side of the bale chamber and that the right tine being adjusted farther right it will also grab more hay and move it over. My 2nd cutting was so light due to the dry summer it was hard to see if it made a difference. When I can keep the pickup full it makes a beautiful bale.

Thank you. Merry Christmas to you also!
Thank you for sharing! I hope y’all had a Happy and Blessed Thanksgiving!
We had a great thanksgiving spending time with family. Hope yours was good also!
@ AcmeCountryAcres we spent ours with family as well! Wonderful time spent together. Thank you for asking!
How much did y’all get?
We probably got 6-8”. I was hoping for more but it was good. The snow turned to rain Friday night so it started melting right away. Only a few inches left now.
Thanks for sharing! Love seeing y’all’s adventures! Definitely can see that this tunnel was carved out by hand with no help from machine. Absolutely beautiful!
Finally, see a vehicle with alternator topside.
Yes, I hate seeing the alternator down low.
Have been a railroad buff all my life. Enjoyed this short clip a lot! Thanks for sharing!
@@martyh299 we visited a 2nd tunnel that I’m hoping to edit and get posted in the morning. The Coburn tunnel was also a late 1870’s construction and was stopped being used in the 1970’s but it is still in its original/as left condition. It’s amazing how it has held up and was really great to see!
@ look forward to seeing this one as well! Thank you’
Bottle opener on the tractor key. When of the best mods I've seen. Well played.
Lol thanks
So nice when the wind is blowing your way!
Will keep saying this….absolutely beautiful! A little piece of heaven!
Thank you
Thank you. I plan to rebuild my 986 front end this winter. It's nice to see something come apart and go back together before you do it so your efforts will make my life easier. Appreciate your filming the process.
Good luck, hope it goes well. If you have any questions send me a message and I’ll try to help.
I'm gonna try this in a couple weeks. Thank you for showing and describing your process. It will make my work much easier.
Maybe you could check the tension on your twine. Have no experience with New Holland balers, only used International.
That’s a good point and something I’ll have to look into more. There is some tension on the twine, but couldn’t say if it’s enough/too much. Thanks for the suggestion.
The first oil change on that FIAT, should have been at 500 miles.
@@Hatchet-wy3vn interesting, no mention of that in the owners manual or anywhere else. Thanks for the input.
Said it before and I will say it again absolutely beautiful view!
Thanks again!
where is this? looks very similar to Germany, RP

No worries on video output. You are by yourself in video production and doing the work, so that eats up your time. Was going to ask about the IH, but you beat me to it. Look forward to any video you do. Thank you for taking time out of your life to share! God bless my friend!
Thank you!
Did this fix your banana bales
I need to do a follow up video but yes it seems much better. Second cutting was very light and I couldn’t keep the bale chamber as full as I would normally like but it still put out very nice bales. There were a few that were a little lighter on one side but not bad at all.
Did a follow up video on what all I’ve done to fix the banana bales. th-cam.com/video/IxjHFlodbt4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=l_qBCHRA2X4CfYS4
That cart speeds things up. Well done!
@@johnlaw9369 Thanks!
THANK ALMIGHTY COVENANT GOD YAHWEH THAT 💪 IT WORKS . AWESOME
Do you think the capacity of a BX23S is higher because of the backhoe?
I’m not positive but the overall capacity would be higher due to the additional hydraulic cylinders. If you retracted all the cylinders and pushed as much fluid back to the tractor as possible you should be able to drain out more.
@@AcmeCountryAcres Thank you yeah that makes sense 👍
Did you replace both filters with this one or just the first one from the tank?
Just the first one from the tank. I left the filter just before the injection pump since it is east to access and can serve as a final safety in case any contaminants get in while changing the other filter.
Seems like alot of fluid to add
Letting it slowly drip drain overnight gets a decent amount more out
I just came across your channel after searching all over for some information for a pto not working or slowing down. I have a Massey Ferguson MF1648 with about 1,200 hours on it and a few weeks back shortly after changing out the hydraulic fluids and filter while I was bushhoging for a couple of hours I noticed that the PTO would start to slow down and even stopped turning at one point. If I let the tractor sit for a bit I was able to engage the PTO again but eventually it would do it again. I had only cleaned out the suction filter so I thought maybe I had not cleaned it out good enough. I drained the hydraulic fluid again and cleaned out the suction filter and noticed some very fine dust like I'm guessing metal shavings and what looked like a little piece of teflon tape. I put everything back together and tried again but it still did it after about 45 minutes bushhoging. I bought new filters including the suction filter (those things are high dollar). Now whenever I have the chance I'm going to check the PTO control valve to see if maybe I have the same issue you had. I truly appreciate you sharing this information with us. Thank you.
I’ll start with saying I don’t know anything about the pto system on a MF1648. The slowing down part is concerning to me because it sounds like the pto clutch could be slipping. I wouldn’t use it any more till you figure it out just in case the clutch is slipping hopefully it is still useable. I would check pressure to the pto clutches and see if you’re getting what is recommend in the service manual. If you are getting the correct pressure then I don’t know where to go other than clutch issues, but again I’m no expert or even novice on your tractors setup. I wish you luck and hope it is a easy and quick fix. If there’s anything I can help with shoot me an email and I’ll do what I can.
@@AcmeCountryAcres Thank you so much for your response. Yes Hopefully it is a quick and easy fix.
I have an 861 with a loader on it. I absolutely love the tractor! It's so handy for my small needs. I like the look of a 961, too. Sometimes, I think it would be neat to have a 661, 751, 861, and 961 for shows. The Fords are not as common around me but very neat tractors people enjoy looking at. Thanks for sharing, I have been wanting a disk and some other implements. I would like to grow corn at my local tractor show grounds for demonstration purposes.
They are great tractors with good power and very maneuverable. I agree and would like a few more models also…..need another building if I would do that to keep them in lol.
Thank you for sharing !!!
Still can’t get over the view! Absolutely stunning!
Thanks!
👍🏼💯
All of these videos are interesting to me. I miss working with tractors and stuff, so anything that you brings back wonderful memories! Appreciate you sharing!
Thanks for the kind words. I also really enjoy working with tractors which is one of the reasons I do all this.
I have a 2370 , cant believe how much bigger the 2380 is
I haven’t spent much time around any of the previous series to know of a size difference but when they went to the 80 series that much have been one of the changes.
love the idea of hanging the deck by a chain. never crossed my mind but an excellent idea
Getting it up in the air like that makes it so much nicer for working on it.
Pallet forks on the loader, and a chain, works great to hang the deck and lift it up in the air for easy cleaning, been doing that with my Kubota BX2680 for the past 3 years. The problem I have is the doorway to my shop where I store the tractor isn't wide enough to leave the deck installed, so I have to install and remove the deck every time I want to mow, so its kind of a pain. The mower works great, just kind of inconvenient to have to install/remove the deck every time I mow LOL. Usually I can just use my leaf blower and blow most of the debris off the deck between mowing, and the underside of the deck stays pretty clean as I don't mow when its wet.
Good looking Kubota! Thank you for sharing!
@@martyh299 Thank you!
I have one just like yours. I have the float spring but missing the rod . I’m guessing I can thread one end of a rod and make one. I’m really looking for a pto shaft cover for it. Just to make it look complete. I have found a few things on line to put it back together. Really enjoy your videos. Very helpful!!
Thanks for the kind words. I have used Fry’s Machinery in Pennsdale PA for parts for the sickle mower and they have been very helpful. Good luck!
Could you include how you engaged the mower deck? I am not sure how you got the deck to cut. You were on the opposite side of the camera and I can's see which levers you moved to engage, or disengage the mower. Your installation is pretty easy without the backhoe and loader attached.
Sorry for the delay responding. I ended up doing a short video showing how to engage the PTO. Hope this is helpful. th-cam.com/users/shortsRIxpK2tucdU?feature=share
I had an issue with my needles drifting from the home position on my bc5050. That bolt that was loose, had completely fell off. One very easy thing to do, that I neglected until this week, was to check tensions on both the main drive chain and the feeder chain (the one on the tractor side, not the main feeder chain in the rear near the twine box). My chains had stretched so much that my baler jumper a little bit of time!
I’ve tensioned my chains and they are within spec but this winter putting all new chains on might be one of the projects.
The ones you took out look like the original ones judging by the paint so they seem to last a while despite being into the rivets.
Yes, that’s a great point. Thanks!
Just gonna add some important info here. That sealer gasket where the neck on that filter goes is very annoying to get out. I don’t recommend a pick. Use a hammer and chisel to crease it or pliers and then rip it out. When you put the new one back in use something flat and the same size as the gasket (like a socket) and lightly tap it in until it’s FULLY seated and as flat as possible. I had at least 4 low pressure codes and limped my tranny because this info wasn’t in the video. Now I’ll be doing this whole process again tomorrow and spending over 100 dollars 🙄
Thanks for the info. Too bad you have to go through it again, not the most fun job.
Hey, no worries at all! We all get busy nowadays. Thank you for sharing when you can though!
Thanks for the great idea with the ratchet strap! I always have trouble getting that thing off and back on.
Hopefully it will help you out, it’s definitely a pain otherwise.
Happy Independence Day to you and your family!
