Doringlaagte Resort Caravan Park and Campsite review (See tip on power cords!)
Be very careful of December month bookings. No refunds, no compensation whatsoever, not even allowed to give the site out. The wife had to undergo a contractive knee surgery. No refunds or date exchanges. Lost all money paid to these rampokkers.
I bought one of these in Australia but a 4 sleeper. Just wondering do all chobe caravans have oxygen and acetylene hoses for the drinking water hose? Or am I just lucky.
We camp in Addo all the time. You can book a "Caravan Site" for normal camping for a slightly higher price but it is well worth it. There are also 2 tent sites in the caravan area. The train can be annoying but we got use to it quite quickly. Summer time camping can be very hot. Our advise is to find a site with afternoon shade. Addo is a great park, small and unique. You can drive every road in the park in one day.
I’ll be going there next week for the first time.
The voice on the 👌🏻👌🏻top quality good work
Great Review thanks. We will be there from 18-20 Oct 2024.My first time to Golden Gate ❤
Plot 16..any pics please
If you record sound in the wind, you need a windsock. Sound is more important that video quality, but maybe you could not help to avoid it?
Stayed their years back when the prices were good. Nice spot most of the parks are over priced now. So we support small buisnness now like back packers, and camping sites in crags, and wild spirit.
Any recommendations for campsites in George South or Mosselbay
"My favourite place on the garden route, and wild spirit in the crags." "All great places to visit.❤️ Nice video. 👍👌
Thank you for this video! Looking forward to my first stay at Kleine Eike
Thank you 🫠,i had to go through my home for the next 2 years
Informative video. Thanks for sharing.
Hello Neil. Baie dankie vir jou video, waardeer dit!! 2 vrae asb. 1. Hoor mens lawaai in die nagte van nabye omliggende nedersettings? 2. Is daar goeie selfoon opvangs vir Vodacom? Baie dankie, ons sal dit opreg waardeer!
Thanks for video. There are more campsitesv1 tob6 closevto the beach which you didn't show and we would love to see, also 7 to 10 next to the sea. Ablution blocks inside? Overall we got an idea....
This is very helpful, thanks a lot!
Thanks for posting these reviews. They are super helpful 👍
It's lovely. What are the permanent site like.?
Nice video. Dankie. Jy het genoem dat jy die huisie ook gaan review. Het jy? Ek kry nie daai video nie.
Is this good for 4 people? I assume we have to book 2 units. If we stay inside the park the whole time, then we only pay for one entrance fee. If we stay outside such as Merloth Park, and want to spend a few days visiting Kruger, then entrance fees can add up. Any thoughts?
Hi there, thanks for the review. Did your gravel site B have a power point?
As far as we are aware they all have power points but it might be good to call them and confirm
Hi. We've left our Kruger bookings late this year and I notice that Pretoriuskop has a lot of availability compared to other camps in the south. Why is this? What is off-putting about camping at Pkop and why isn't it popular?
Good day We have also found that Pretorius Kop is typically one of the camps with availability. I think the reason for that might be that it is located on the border of Kruger so there are not many options to drive different roads from the camp. But that is just my assumption. Also the Numbi gate has been known for safety issues so few people want to enter through that gate.
Plot 6 ot 8?
They are both sea facing so basically identical and you can go with either one
An excellent campsite review thanks so much 🙏🏻 We've been once before & stayed on #17 which was allocated, lovely but would have liked to be on the fence. Next visit in April & been allocated #29 but tossing up between that or #30!? 🤔
Thank you, we are glad you enjoyed it. Site 30 is certainly one of our favourite ones :)
Great review, dankie! In die mark vir n 2slaap camper en sjo, dis n moeilike taak.
Dankie Nelia. Ja die twee slapers is skaars. Sterkte met die soektog.
I am considering buying an Echo Chobe, how difficult is the Bush wing to put up and take down?
Hi Ant The bush wing swings out and is strapped to the side. It literally takes about 10 minutes for one person do do it. Packing it up into the zip bag is a bit more of a task as you need to roll and zip it. For that I would it as a two person job and can still be done in 10 minutes.
What camera are you using, please?
Hi Jon I use a Iphone 15 with a stabilising gimble
@@AfricanCampsiteReviews Great advert fot the phone. Straight into th sun and still getting great shots. Well done.
Thank you @@JonGericke
Now that is usefull info thank you
Hi Andre, I'm glad it was helpful! :)
THANKS
You're welcome!
Hi there, We are staying at Addo this Month. We found your video very helpful. Please could I ask you a question? The camp sites, are they all big enough? I have a Bushwakka Fargo trailer. I’m hoping to be able to put my 360’ awnings out for some shade. I’m stressing a little about the size of the sites to be honest and we can’t reserve any. Your opinion is very welcome.
Hi Jonathan The sites are small compared to other parks but you will certainly have more than enough space to set up the Fargo
AWESOME
Thanks 🤗
Hello, is there power/electricity in mata mata rest camp at night?
Hi Vishak Some guests have said they have had power at night but in our experience there is no power at night.
Very beautiful place for weekend outing
Hi Steven Absolutely. Happy camping :)
This video is very helpful! Thank you! Can you book a camp site or is it first come first serve?
Glad you found it helpful. You can book a campsite on the SANParks website but you cannot choose a site number until such time that you arrived.
Thanks so much! I’ve booked our first ever camping holiday to Kruger for September 🥳
@@mattyolo , very exciting! Enjoy your trip 😃
Brilliant, thank you. Leaving in less than a week now.
Only a pleasure Steve, hope you had a nice trip? :)
Nice review. Do you think a Bush Lapa will fit/allowed on the gravel campsites?
Thank you. Yes we camped with a Echo Chobe and Mobi Lodge on the gravel sites and the sites were big enough.
The is always wind at the coast, it is just about an everyday phenomenona..Hahaa... That is why being at the seaside is sooo cool. Hah...
This is true :)
Site nr 225? Any comments?
225 is located against the road leading to the beach so can be very busy with traffic passing by constantly during the holidays
Ek hoop jul reis na Tankwa was veilig?
AS A CHILD 50 YEARS AGO THAT PARK WAS MY PLAYGROUND SO GLAD i COULD SEE IT AGAIN NOT MUCH HAVE CHANGED EXCEPT THAT THE ABUSIONS ECT HAS BEEN MODRNISEDTHANK YOU FOR THIS WALK DOWN MEMORY LANE I LEARNT TO SWIM IN Davies pool
Hi Pieter Glad this brought back some good memories :)
Ahve never been able to understand how a piece of land that forms part of public owned facility, built on public land with public funds can be privatly owned.
We’re not sure either. As long as we can enjoy the camp :)
Another bonus of the non electricity point sites they are cheaper and you do not pay the electricity usage fee. So few hundred rand saving a day
Absolutely. If you have solar those sites are in my view always, cheaper and less crowded.
Watching your video and longing to go go back.....then as you pass site 17 there is our setup 😂 great camp, wonderful team who run it and will hopefully be back soon
Hi Richard. It sure is magical. Happy camping! 😊
I love this place you presentation made me to enjoycamping
Glad you enjoyed, happy camping 😊
What would be the most quiet time of year for camping with a tent?
I’ve found that winter in the camp is the most relaxed
@@AfricanCampsiteReviews around end of August? I plan to go the last week in August
Eina! Sad to see that the lawns that covered the camping sites "way back" have completely disappeared!
Yes most of the camping grounds are rather dusty. A good ground sheet is highly recommended.
Is there any caravans to rent in Desember
Hi Pat Unfortunately I’m not aware of any companies providing rentals. Maybe you can call the park to find out if they know of someone or of a permanent campsite that is set up for rental. There are a few permanent ones there
I thought you said it has 30 sides now you are up to 33 camp sights. but over and above i loved your video straight to the point and very helpful...
Roughly 30 sites. What is 3 extra sites between happy campers 😊 Glad you liked it, happy camping!
Hi Neil I haven’t stayed at Satara, in fact I’ve camped at Skukuza and Pretorioskop only. Although I love Kruger, I think the camping experience there is not the best: water taps far away, ablutions not very well maintained, if you arrive late in long weekend, the sites you can find won’t be good with shade etc. I’m any case I’m planning to go to Berg en dal sometime soon. Cheers.
Hi Banana Camper :) I totally agree that the sites has their challenges, but nothing beats being in the Kruger :) Enjoy the camping at Berg & Dal and be sure to check out our review of that campsite. It definitely is one of our favourites.
