How to - First Styling of my Pinus Parviflora
First styling of my 2nd Pinus Parviflora. This is one of my favourite pines, with its elegant and feminine stature; and fine, small needles. Autumn is the best time to wire and style trees. The flow of sap slows as trees prepare for winter dormancy.

Wow congrats...Pines,are hard to layer👍👍👍
@@thegreenmanalishiyamadori371 Thanks mate. Yes they are. They do take a while to develop roots in my experience. But yes I was fortunate with this one.
@hobbyscape4433 lucky you❤️ I have also some layers in the row Some maples and Ginkgo and blackthorn and cherrytree🤷♂️
@ Oh nice. You have a lovely selection there mate. Good luck with the air layering.
@hobbyscape4433 youre welcome🙋🏻♂️
Hey, what soil mix you using with this guy?
@@roberthumphres8283 Hey mate. I’m using osmocote cactus and succulent premium mix
Would hand been nice if you could explain why you did what you did, background music is annoying and distraction.
Where is this plant purchased at
I purchased this one from eBay 😊
I would use chopsticks to pack the growing medium. I think it safer in order not to injure plant. Nevertheless love that pot and your plant. 🪴
Amazing❤
Nice content. Wish the letter type color wasn't white. Difficult to read. Never the less very helpful demonstration. Thanks.
Way too cool! Short and direct to the point. I have a mungo pine I’d like to propagate and I thought pines only propagated with pine cones. Thank you for this video.
Hi Mate. Thanks for watching. I’m glad you find it helpful. Best to start it in spring and depending on your location, it may take some time to root so you have to be patient too 😊 All the best.
How is this after one year since repotting? Mine always look weak and the caudex shrinks from time to time. Yours look so full, healthy and beautiful!
Hi and thank you 🙏🏼. My plant is doing well. I’ll make an update soon. If it shrivelling up more often than it should, it’s probably because it’s drying up too quickly before it can suck up the moisture it needs. You’ll find that it’s a very hardy plant but you need to closely make sure it does not shrivel up too much and water it if needed. That said, they are prone to rot so you’ll need to be careful not to overwater.
Es muy delicado ese arbusto de la raíz sigue vivo?
They are not sensitive at all. Cotoneasters are very robust trees/plants. In some countries they are known to be used as garden hedges and are also used to extreme pruning.
How did you make the leaves small?
When you see new growth on the crown, start cutting the old leaves off. It will reduce the size of the new growth. Repeat the process until you get the leaf size you want. It may take a few years to develop depending on your climate. Bearing in mind that you only do this method also as long as the plant is healthy.
Wow 😮... I’m impressed!!!
Great video! I'm growing some Maples from seed and it's been really fun! :)
Yes definitely one of my favourite trees. Seedlings are always fun and easier to develop and train at a young age. Thanks for watching.
What kind of fertilizer r U using ? My question to U bcs i just bought a chinese quince.
Hi Francien. I use slow release fertiliser all year round with a low nitrogen percentage. Then I would add Charlie Carp in the growing season.
@@hobbyscape4433 Thank U so much 4 ur answer♥️👍. Wish U a very nice day.🙋
Best way to keep the tree growth compact? My quince Karin likes to try and run long branches
Hi @@Rob1337 Yes running long branches and cutting it back also helps with ramification. That said, it may also likely depend on the stage of development that a tree is currently in. In the early stages of development and design, I would likely do it more albeit without compromising the health of the tree. But once, the design I want and the structure is there, I would just maintain the shape of the tree.
@@hobbyscape4433 here is mine th-cam.com/video/CggS1lRdrgY/w-d-xo.html it’s the only tree I struggle with, it’s much the same as it was then just a little bigger, complete nightmare compared to my other trees and have conflicting advice on when to let grow or cut it back here in Scotland, it’s also temperamental in that if I do prune it may drop the complete branch lol 😂
What are those green things you put on top of the soil?
Hi. I’m not sure about the species. But they are some kind of fern. They just started growing in the pot. I initially left them there for aesthetics. But I ended up removing them now. Thanks for watching
Hmmm 🤔… interesting!
Good job! What soil mix do you use?
I buy bonsai soil from my local bonsai nursery. I don’t know the ratio but it looks like a combo of pumice, small pine bark, coarse sand and premium potting soil. The soil might not work for everyone because it will depend on your location. But it works fine where I am.
How long does it take for roots coming out?
@@locpham-ie6lyas we have seen it took 12 month🤷♂️
Good good 😌
Thanks mate. It was my first time doing it. So I was over the moon when I found out it worked 😊
Wow 🤭...that’s impressive!!!
Beautiful plant!! Do you add pumice, lime chips or other additives to your soil for this plant ?
Thank you 🙏🏼 . I usually use 2 parts Bonsai soil which I purchase from my local Bonsai nursery and 1 part crushed granite or turface. If I run out of those, I would use a normal well draining cactus / succulent soil mix as an alternative.
Nice!
Noice
Great! Keep it up 👍
Nice 👍
Are you crazy?
What a lovely tree. Thanks, Xav
Thanks 🙏🏽
Greetings from Mexico, could you upload more videos?
Greetings. I’m having problems with my computer at the moment. That’s why I have not been uploading. I plan to upload something this week. Thanks 🙏🏽
Can’t wait now for the next chapter of this quince! 😊👍
Big like..thanks
Wow 😯...I’m impressed!
How many days can you expect for it to live?
They generally last until the pulps dry out. Probably around 2 to 3 months I would say. Once they die out, I harvest the pulps and dry them out and plant them back in early spring - repeating the cycle again.
@@hobbyscape4433 the pulps are the seed pods?
@@mai4319 Yes. That’s what I meant. Seeds germinate very easy that’s why I make sure I collect them all. Quaking grass is highly invasive.
@@hobbyscape4433 that's amazing 😍 thanks for the tips I will try and take a walk on the nature to see if I can find a native tipe of grass with seeds
Hmmm… interesting! Will follow updates!

I wish it was spring here. Only like 5 months to go haha. That's a nice little tree, I love the flowers on them. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks mate. Yes spring is definitely my favourite season of all 😊
IMHO I think I would have trimmed the 2 branches going down hard back. The reason I don’t get paid for my opinion, don’t know Crap about nothing!
Thanks mate. I did think about that but decided to leave both for now to keep my options open later.
Do you have a male near by for it to have fruits? I've heard mixed infos regarding the subject.
Hi. Yes I have a male plant. It needs a male plant nearby or else it won’t fruit.
Where to buy sunshine blue blueberry,?
Hi. Depending on where you are located, I bought mine at Bunnings
Thanks for this ❣️
Good to hear from you. I hope you’re well.
@@hobbyscape4433 I am great. Thanks :) I hope the same for you.

LONG AWAITED LIGHT!
Seeing that the trees have fallen leaves, I guess Sydney is winter now? Thank you for the wonderful bonsai
Hi. Yes, we’re in our last month of winter. Thanks for watching 🙏🏽
I came here by chance, Thank you for the video! as a bonsai tree, the hornbeam is very popular in Korea, and it is very interesting that the hornbeam bonsai in down-under country. One thing I want to tell you is that the Korean hornbeam has the smallest leaves, so it is evaluated as the best bonsai.
Thank you for watching. I am very much still a novice in this art and I am still learning a lot. The Hornbeam is one of my favourite trees - especially the Japanese and Korean varieties because of their small leaves. IMO they are elegant looking and easy to care for 😊
Many thanks for this idea! Simpel, but realy efficient MG Lacky
Its about time you changed this poor plant. The other pot was pathetic. You're soil still needs to be fixed. Good to see your not using chop sticks this time.
I’m impressed! Can’t wait to see the next step!
Thank you. Thanks for watching
